Soul & Financially Destroying 6-month…

Soul & Financially Destroying 6-month experience.Renting a 5-Bed country property at over £1500 per month - our dream home was ruined by the double-handed, Lies, Incompetence and outright negligence at the hands of Connells and its attitude towards its clients.Structured as a Pyramid Franchise - all issues, of which you will have MANY are outsourced to their central Liverpool customer care team, who are consistently abysmal at every stage of the rental process, slow to respond with any local issues you will encounter and deceitfully flip utility providers without having prior consent (which could lead to a number of serious problems including, poor credit rating)Even staff in their local office, knowingly admit its company values are adverse to its clients those also reflect internally - I personally noted 2 key members of staff leave the company within a short timeframe.Every matter is concluded in Connell's favour, working lockstep with their 'contractors' who overcharge for the most basic work. Please take this warning, read all the comments below and AVOID at all costs, protect yourself your FAMILY, ASSESTS and SOUL from despair and financial loss. This estate agency seriously needs investigating for its conduct and crooked practices.

Customer service training needed

I had the misfortune to have to talk to someone from this company, I can only say that their customer service training needs a complete rethink. I am selling my house so the survey was on behalf of the buyers mortgage company, and I have no fault to find with the gentleman who came to my house. I don’t even feel I can give the person I spoke to at Connells the title of ‘Gentleman’ because he was far from it. I came home to find a that I had missed two phone calls, I rang the office admitting that I’d missed the phone calls only to be met with the comment “ oh we thought you were trying to avoid us, most people do”. When I told him that I’d been on holiday he replied “well I suppose that is allowed”. He then told me what I was expected to do when the surveyor arrived, no question as to whether I would be able cope with the requirements. If I ever need to employ the services of a surveying company I would certainly make sure that I would not employ Connells

Avoid at all costs !

So we decided to go with Connells to sell our house, as the lady that initially came out was lovely and made us feel confident to go ahead and put our house of 26years on the market. After that time, it went downhill, once the house was sold, Paige who had been given our case to proceed with, never seem interested, had to be chased for everything, gave us no information unless we had to ask for it. Even when we dropped the keys off, there was no "good luck" or effort made to be pleasant. Also the PPL converancing that they recommend i wouldnt touch...nightmare. My best advice, would be to avoid !

Useless Mortgage Advisor

I put an offer down on a property back in March and Connells insisted that for the offer to be accepted and for a “quick sale” (even though it took about 5 months from putting the offer down to completion) I would have to use their in-house mortgage advisor. So I agreed to use their mortgage advisor who was completely useless. He couldn’t even find me a mortgage and said it was because I didn’t have a good enough credit score. I did my own credit check through Experian and my credit score was excellent. So, to cut a long story short, I went through my own bank in the end and they gave me mortgage offer within days. If you do put an offer down on a property marketed by Connells, DON’T agree to use their mortgage advisor. It’s a waste of time and put us back about 2 weeks!

Remortgaging to borrow for a loft…

Remortgaging to borrow for a loft conversion of 3 bed semi in Aldershot. Passed all affordability and credit checks - bank sent out someone from this firm who was in the house all of 5 minutes. Next door neighbour with identical property and vastly smaller garden (1/3 of size of ours) sold 2 weeks ago for £350K. Our valuation by these people - £340K. We have a garden office, an extra off road parking space (3 in total), planning permission for a 1 storey extension 4m x 7m and the extra garden area. Looking at other similar houses in the same area £390K was the average. The Connells agent was advised of all of this and did not impart this information to the bank. £370K was what would have been my lowest estimate based on the recent sale next door, but how on earth did they go lower?! This means a higher LTV and more interest. I have challenged this with the bank, but the stress and infuriation that they failed to act professionally, did no research apart from looking at property sales from 10 years ago and submitted an inaccurate/incomplete report to the bank leads me to question their competence. I would not recommend any bank uses them.

Under Valuing Houses!!!

Paid over £800 in valuation fees and the surveyor has under valued both properties, all other houses on both new build sites have been valued at the sale price. The properties that have been used for comparison are nothing like the new build and the increase in current house prices has not been taken into consideration. We are first time buyers and had a horrible experience because of Connells. They have no procedure to make a proper complaint, I was given three different phone numbers to be told there’s nothing they can do, eventually was given an email address. Will be reporting to RICS if this doesn’t get sorted.

rather not

New to the property market, so contacting different estate agents, one of them Connells. First called a branch nearby, got promised they pass on my number to the responsible colleagues to give me a call back, nothing happened. Reached out via email, nothing happened. Saw a very interesting property and contacted them via a website to arrange a viewing only to receive quite a short email requesting me to call them back (they did have all my details so could have just phoned me). Anyway called the number they gave me, the person who sent the email answered, I introduced myself and said what property it is about. She firstly didn't have a clue what was going on, pretended the phone line was bad, took my number and promised me to call me back right away. And she didn't, no call the whole day or the following. Not sure how they make any business, as according to other reviews, this seems to be pretty standard. Totally different experience with other estate agents so far and will definitely pick them over Connells anytime, sadly might miss out on a dream flat, but will certainly avoid more stress and banging my head against the wall.

Avoid at all costs

We are current Connells customers with a rental property on their books. To anyone thinking of using their rental service beware -everything is wonderful until you sign the contract. Too many points to list, but rest assured that they will always side with the tenant on issues, you’ll be passed round the world trying to get answers (poorly trained staff who don’t last long) and the check in/out forms they use aren’t fit for purpose.Avoid at all costs

Keep well away !

Very helpful until straight after the contract signed, had to repeatedly ask to get my contract - only my threat of not paying fees prompted its delivery, found they overcharged me, also incredibly difficult to speak to anyone, their sales progress was virtually non existent - in fact they failed to inform me that the moving date had been agreed i found out by accident from the vendors agent created chaos and so much stress! will NEVER use these "estate agents" again, not happy!

Could you guys pls stop adding fake virtual tours on your ads on zoopla and right movie. It's absurd you would a video of a virtual Tour which just shows picture slides. If you don't have a proper video then let it be. I find this very annoying to open a virtual Tour video and you are showing me animated pictures.

Terrible agent

Terrible agent! I requested a refund because I mistakenly paid my rent twice when trying to sort my standing order I rang all last week to get it sorted and all I was getting back was we will sort this as soon as possible. When I rang at the end of last week on Friday the woman said I don't see any action being taken so nobody did anything! She sorted it all out for me and told me should be in my account on Monday meaning today so I rang to make sure and they said yes it will be in my account after 4pm which was great. I just got a email saying it will he in my account in 3-5 working days. The place needs shutting down can't manage anything.

They only reply to you when it's in their advantage. They only reply if THEY need something from you. If you have any enquieries and want to speak to someone..good luck. Tried calling the agency 15 times in a single day, sent multiple emails, no reply, only for them to send me an email days later telling me that my rent is increasing HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Bad news

We thought we were just getting a valuation of our house but they conned my husband into signing up with them with a 14 day cool off period which I did when I saw what he had signed for. We have been hassled by them ever since and after 3 months have received emails from premier property why haven't we signed papers to sell our house as connells didnt cancel our 14 day cooling off period. Lack of communication or tactics not sure which but dont trust them they are con artists just interested in selling your house. Dont be conned they are very believable

Connells Lettings are stealing our money

Connells Lettings beyond awful. Too many problems to list here, but the final straw is that they are refusing to release the tenant deposit to partly offset considerable rental arrears, with no legal right to do so. They are basically stealing our money.Would have been so much easier to manage the tenants ourselves, plus we would have avoided the letting fees.Avoid these letting agents at all costs!

Awful estate agents and made the…

Awful estate agents and made the experience of buying a first home an awful one. I viewed a property twice and made an offer. During the first viewing, everything was fine. Second viewing they complained that the agent showing me around had to be at another appointment 15 minutes after mine. They do not communicate with each other, they fail to reply to emails and fail to answer the phone. I pulled my offer in the end and the reply I got was a demand to increase my offer. Will not be dealing with them again.

Avoid Avoid Avoid!!! 0 stars

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. At the end of 2020 I left my abusive partner and was promised by the Connells agent looking after the property we rented together that he would get me removed from the tenancy as my ex refused to leave the property. They then went back on this promise and have left me financially tied to a man that physically, mentally and emotionally abused me. My ex demanded he wasn’t going to be made homeless so I had to leave and that he would take on all rent and bills. He has now gone on not to pay any rent since I left and tried to demand I pay it. As you can imagine I have had to find somewhere else to live and can not afford to pay for my abuser to live in a house I (being pregnant) should of been able to stay in. Connells have continued to ignore any correspondence from me and just let the property go into 4 months of arrears with no efforts to remove my ex from the property. All I will say about Connells is that you should avoid them as a tenant and even as a landlord. They have no morals and are not interested in anyones circumstances.

KINGS HEATH BRANCH avoid it at all cost…

KINGS HEATH BRANCH avoid it at all cost I would not have even given one star in particular to Jason Westson Tate. After having to chase them for an appointment to arrange a second viewing. Jason had the audacity to accuse me of turning up to a house viewing on my own accord which I had confirmed with them that morning. They spend most of the time just delaying offers being put forward. Once they put the offer forward, they start a bidding war. If you are on the ball and you know exactly what you except from an estate agent then these bunch of egotistical, unprofessional and money grabbing people are not for you.I actually pity people who are trying to get their house sold by Connells I think if the vendors actually saw the conduct and the games, they play they would take their business elsewhere. In the field I’m involved I will not be recommending these unprofessional bunch to any of my clients. I certainly will not be buying houses from them.I’m glad I didn’t part with any of my money to continue to fund this level of unprofessionalism.I suggest Jason should review his personal failings as an unsuccessful gym owner and not to take his personal failing out on the public.

Poor property valuation experience

Poor property valuation experience. Stay well clear if you have the choice.Undervalued my property. I had 5 estate agents value the property ranging from £200,000 to £220,000. My mortgage company sent Connells to do the survey and the agent was in the house less than 5 minutes. He only went into 1 of the bedrooms and didn't really seem that interested. His valuation came back at £180,000. When looking at his report he had missed off the en-suite bathroom and the comparable properties where nothing like my property.Luckily I was still able to remortgage as I still had enough equity in the property but others may not have the room. I can see by other reviews that it seems to be a common issue with Connells down valuing homes. If you have the choice I would steer way clear!!

Buying a house in Cambourne

Buying a house in CambourneWas buying a house offered by connells cambourne, overall experience is not very good, but not totally bad that why I am giving 2 starsThey were trying to push us to use their services, mortgage advisor and solicitors, which we didn't, so they became a bit rude to us especially the mortgage advisor who was very rude.First agent wasn't really helpful at the start, kept shutting down our questions and requests, we knew nothing about the house and they were trying to help the owner hide any flaws in the house to complete the sale, which isn't professional or right. Was lucky to get a relatively good agent from connells by the end of the sale, but didn't really help fix the mistakes done during the start. If you are a buyer and had to deal with them, don't use their services. Also keep on the pressure to know everything or walk away, it is not worth it to buy a house if the seller and his estate agent are going to lie to you.
