We were looked after brilliantly by Andy Parker and the team at SDL. We were kept informed every step of the journey, and knew how many viewers had seen the property, how many had requested legal packs and how many were likely to be bidding. We had a brilliant auction and realised about 50% more than we expected. We felt the professionalism shown to us was very impressive and we would not hesitate to use SDL again

Key hand over after completion

SDL Auction put constant pressure on the 15 day turn around however when I managed to turn it around and complete the legal work successfully within the given timeframe. There was no communication what so ever regarding when or how I will receive the property keys.I as well as my solicitors chased the auction who holds the key however I have still not heard anything after 24 hours.It means my plans of DIY and renovating the property have to be cancelled which I arranged weeks ago in line with the completion date. This will consequently delay any works to be done at the property for at least a week.I’m now losing money each day this is delayed. Still hoping someone contacts me. The service started of well but unfortunately when it came to wrapping it up no one seems to know what is going on and it seems like they really don’t care.Baring in mind they had a clause to serve penalties or even withdraw the sale if the delay was caused from my side.The keys should have been handed over by now, but they really don’t prioritise you once the sale has gone through.Extremely unprofessional. Watch out.

See the reviews: all sellers "were originally nervous but eventually happy" - seems like a template comment to me - all buyers mad at this agency. I'm with the latter, and I won't be a buyer with SDL. Contacted them 2 weeks ahead, kept in touch proactively, almost always speaking to a different person, proposed a date from the beginning, was told 2 days prior it'd have to be the next. Disappointed, I managed to move things around my schedule and asked for the date they proposed, only a little later due to transportation constraints, was told no way and offered other dates. They'll do nothing for buyers, and I can't be sure the happy sellers are real either. If you ask me, it all seems like a bit of a set-up. BTW, I don't know if it's all they do, but they buy and resell properties that are "difficult to sell" otherwise. Look into it. I did and I didn't like what I found. Utter waste of time.

Viewing booked for a bungalow. Confirmed by email. Arrived at 10:30. No one turned up. Waited 20min. Emailed the office. They didn't respond. Called to advise what was happening to be told it was sold. Wasted the whole morning. Really disappointed. I asked why they did not inform me. Although they confirmed the viewing my contact details were not saved. Time and money wasted.

Sophie was very helpful

Sophie was very helpful and seemed genuinely interested in selling our property. She was friendly, efficient and quick to return calls. She went out of her way to ensure the ID information was received, even visiting one of our Trustees to collect it, which was most helpful. It went right to the wire. What I found most frustrating was the absolutely useless role the Estate Agent played. However, SDL did a good job with a difficult property that had initially been over valued.

I met Andy Thompson at a house we had inherited in 2019 and we discussed all options with regard to the sale as I was reluctant to sell at what I perceived could be a lower price than on the open market. There was no pressure or tantrums (from him) when it was decided to renovate and not use SDL services. After 2 years, and personal circumstances preventing renovation, and the possible emotional turmoil of being a landlord was too much, Andy was instructed to put the house up for auction. Fees explained clearly and options discussed including reserve price. Alex kindly took photos and a 360 degree video, these being shown to me for approval before being included quickly on SDL and Rightmove website. There were lots of viewings and all accompanied by either Andy or Alex, and I had regular updates on the telephone. The day of the Auction was live streamed and I was able to view the actual bidding from my living room whilst drinking coffee and having the odd sweet.The Auctioneer was Rory and he teased as much as possible from thh bidders in a humorous and engaging manner. It sold on the day at a price that was acceptable with almost all the legal fees being paid by the purchaser! Many thanks to Andy, Alex and all at SDL who tool the stress out of the process. I’ve never sold at auction before so I entered the process with some trepidation. However, Rachel from SDL was just brilliant. She was patient with my questions and completely put my mind at rest. She was proactive in contacting potential bidders and she kept me informed throughout the whole process. I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more. I’m still relatively new to the whole property market, and it was nice that Sarah had taken the time to explain and assist me with steps to take, which would reduce any time wasted when getting an offer potentially accepted from the vendor. Jim has been absolutely amazing and so helpful. (Viewing a house to buy at auction)Myself and my partner are first time buyers and are very new to the housing scene. We were both sceptical about how viewings would be in general (but especially cautious due to covid at the moment) due to my partner working I had to go with another family member to the original viewing of the property. As I was concerned that my partner would not be able to see the house Jim was more than happy to ensure my partner got to view the house and took us on the Saturday to show us both around. Jim has been extremely helpful, knowledgable in his field and more than capable to answer every question we threw at him. Being professional, polite, chatty and covid safe I felt completely at ease and not pressured in the slightest. He managed to very efficiently keep time slots going without rushing anyone and also made sure social distancing and mask wearing was adhered to. Jim also helped us to imagine the house how we would like it and even helped us to think of ideas we hadn’t even thought about. He took great care of us throughout the house viewing asking about our opinions and how we were feeling.He gave solid recommendations on surveyors we could use and even took us over to go and speak to the local surveyor who he recommended (a fabulous recommendation aswell). Jim truly went above and beyond mine and my partners expectations. We felt safe, informed and extremely happy with the service provided. Would just like to say aswell that it is so nice to have someone local show you a house who knows about the history of the village and the houses surrounding. Would highly recommend. Thankyou so much for all your help.

We placed two small non-residential land lots in your 18 December auction. Whilst they were at fairly low guide/reserve prices they were nevertheless unusual in a number of ways.We dealt with Chris Theocharides at SDL as well as other staff. Chris has been excellent in the way he took instructions, tried to understand the nuances of the lots we were offering & seemed genuinely interested in achieving a good outcome for us which indeed was achieved.We have other potential lots in the pipeline & will be talking to Chris about them in due course.
