I bought from this auction a Hurst trade in on the 6th of January 2019 took it to my mechanic to be told the turbo was under boost needs replaced, sump plug has been welded into sump, also needs replaced, i paid £2550 plus auction fees for this and when i called the auction they told me i can only run it back through the auction ( so badically pass it on to some other unsuspecting buyer) this is unacceptable and i would WARN anyone buying from this place or HURST trade ins BEWARE!!! I will be taking this further!!!!-

Advisable to go in early if you want to get a bidding number for the unreserved auction. I bought a top spec laptop in very good condition for close to nothing and I am using it everyday without any issues or what so ever... The staff is friendly and helpful when ever you need assistance.

BEWARE BUYING THROUGH WILSON AUCTIONS, I recently purchased a car from the auction, it was sold as seen, 15 miles I got before engine blew up. This car was submitted for sale by Charles Hurst and my mechanic tells me the fan had been disconnected deliberately as the thermostat housing was faulty and the dash board would have been lit up like a xmas tree so by disconnecting the fan no one would know so to me a very very bad experience and I would BEWARE of WILSON AUCTION as they are as guilty as the perpetrator.

In fairness a great site for auctions. Plenty on-cars, Property to general goods. I have bought 2 cars from here over the years..they don't just do 10 year old cars- but fleet and prestige as you will see from my photos. Interesting stuff!! Buyer beware of course!!! Also be sure to add in the VAT charges if you are not a company and any other charges on specific auctions. You go on the night - pay £200 deposit for a bidding number which you get back if you don't buy. Auction lists are published very late on the day-but you will get some items on the website. You can also bid online - which would be even easier, but must collect the next day or loose your item and deposit. Try and stand/sit near a door if at the car auction due to the fumes of all the cars..toilets are decent, a cafe on site sells limited hot food and tea!! :) £1.20 for a cup..All in all - pretty decent, just don't get caught up in the bidding wars :)

Bought a 32" tele and a laptop. Spent a total of £90. Got them home and neither worked.. Essentially i paid £90 for scrap. The laptop had the parts stripped out of it. Before you go to any auction, Consider why the goods might be there for sale.. ;) no reflection on wilsons.. Ive bought stuff in the past and been fine.. But like any auction... Its high risk!! I got my fingers burnt... Lesson learned. BE AWARE

What an interesting place! I bought a very nice watch at the last Prestige Auction. Fascinating collection of cars, jewelry, designer goods through to household items. The place seems to sell everything, even properties! Brought the grand kids up for something to eat in the new restaurant and i was very impressed, the renovations are fantastic. Very professional bunch of people to deal with - look forward to doing business in the future. Ian M

Several years ago I reported to Wilsons that family stolen medals from ww1 could appear for sale in the auction. Rather than record the details and assist they said it was not their problem. Thankfully another auction did assist and the medals were returned to the family.

Their commission is ridiculously high. In some cases 30%+VAT. Some staff are also unhelpful.

Agent replied · 16 June 2024

Dear Shane, thank you for your review. Unfortunately, some of our fees are in keeping with contractual obligations meaning that on occasions they can reach 30% + VAT. We do however keep this under constant review to provide our customers with a market leading service at a reasonable cost. In regards to unhelpful staff, if you have had a bad experience please reach out to michaelrennie@wilsonsauctions.com who would be more than willing to assist in resolving all matters.

Very good facility for quick sales and purchases. Mechanisms in place to remove uncertainty in such places. I have bought good cars from here.

I was up in Wilson's and was taken back by how much they actually add on when you consider a lot of the cars come from well known dealers and there fore there is no need for indemnity charges to be added I think the word you could be looking for is conartists if you want ripped off Wilson's auctions is the place for you👎 …

The worst service ever. Bought a car that has engine problem and them neither help after sold it. They basically don't care about. Very poor spot and will never suggest them to friends. Spent almost 1000£ and they told me basically, it's my problem. With a bit of more money I could buy at least working car. Only losing money with them, not a good deal. AVOID!!!

Some staff could do with more training given our experience with our first auction attendance here. Mixed up lot numbers and improper use of graphics display led to confusion over which lots where actually being auctioned at one particular point. And nothing was done to rectify or apologise for it
