Exceptional service as a seller and buyer

Alison and the team at Rook Matthew’s Sayer, Whitley Bay, were outstanding from my first encounter with them in the office throughout completion on our purchase and sale, and beyond.Their knowledge of the local market, and drive to find the right buyer and get the best price for each property, is exceptional. Alison worked tirelessly to negotiate on our behalf. Once the sale and purchase was agreed the hard work and regular communication continued. It’s rare to find an agent who can be impressive in both the sale negotiation and holding the sale together through to completion without bump or incident. We’ve sold and bought properties in different areas of the country and region and I’d go as far as to say this was the perfect agent experience - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

We had previously contacted RMS to arrange a viewing of a house prior to selling our own to which there were mistakes and mixups I.e being called weeks later following up the viewing request when we’d already seen it…twice. Then I poorly chose RMS for the sale of our house. Had a poor and unhelpful experience when selling and still so now the house is sold! During the selling process, we went with RMS as we were promised 360 degree photography for free which was never organised- luckily the house sold quicker than expected so didn’t need this. The photographs taken were sub-par and I had to send in my own to replace the poor quality of the worst ones. They also did not include an adequate coverage of the house in their images. During the selling experience, I found that when I rang to request information this was never followed up. If it was, the wrong and outdated information was then given. Additionally, they managed to tell me that my buyer requested a viewing, and to tell my buyer that I had requested a meeting- leading to a lot of stress and very much wasted time on both our parts as we stood looking dumbfounded at one another when the meeting took place. Now my house is sold, and the current owner is selling it on nearly a year later, I have been emailed her confidential documents….twice- even after I corrected them the first time. They clearly have been unprofessional in the way in which they have handled customer data. Would not recommend.

Poor estate agents. Tried numerous times to organise the viewing of a house in Callerton via email and calls. Was last left with someone will book us in and get back. Never did. House now sold in anycase and had been on months but its no wonder why when they are this poor to handle communications. Dissappointing as well as it looked a lovely house and the vendors will be none the wiser as to how badly their agents handled their enquiries as we probably would have agreed on this over a month ago.

We have always used RMS when we have bought and sold in Newcastle. They were kind enough to allow us to access their services in person last year to ease our submission of relevant papers, etc, as Covid restrictions were becoming hard to circumvent and our time in Newcastle was limited.Our purchase was complicated by the resistance of the seller to move on as they promised and I felt ( at times) that I was leading the process to seek clarity. This of course could just be me feeling the stress of a home move from Birmingham to Newcastle. Ellie always responded to my communication and was always available to speak to. I found the team very professional and genuine. Importantly they didn’t just email. They phoned and spoke to you directly. The personal touch makes a big difference. Many thanks. We'd like to recommend Alistair Bowman as a mortgage advisor. He's helped us with (re)mortgages for a few years now and recently he helped us with the finances around selling and buying. Alistair is an extremely professional and hardworking advisor. Not only is he approachable and always there when you need him, he's also following up with you on a regular basis to see how things are progressing. You do feel that he cares for his clients and you're not only a pay check at the end of the process. When we needed to renew our mortgage offer due to overly long waiting times in the buying process he had it extended in minutes. He had the ball rolling for the fund transfer at the end of the purchase before we were even advised to start the transfer by the solicitors. He seems always on top of the game, which is superb. The level of service, attention to detail, helpfulness and professionalism is exceptional. I first called to arrange a valuation. Within minutes of finishing the telephone call I had received an email to confirm the appointment. This was going to be a benchmark.
