I moved out on the 22nd of April and they kept my deposit until the 23nd of July.There were no disputes or anything. They didn't claim we owed them money or that we left the place in a state that would warrant us losing our deposit. Just every time we asked when we will get our deposit back they said "It will take a month to process". They did this every month. It took going there to shout at them for them to finally release the deposit

There is no qualification or professional membership that anyone has to achieve before they can call themselves a letting agent and this is certainly the case with Northwood Northampton. From the start they had no idea about the house or how things worked referring me to the landlord each and every time I had a question. Their aim was to extract as much as they could in fees and incidentals and tried to claim my entire security deposit because I had complained about them so much. The assistant manager was a real piece of work and was so obviously completely incompetent. There are so many decent lettings agencies in Northampton so please do not rent or let through these people. I had to litigate against the landlord to get my full deposit back plus costs. Northwood were nowhere to be seen in court!

I am a landlord, last 4 and half years I was with Northwood. They never ever paid my rent on time . Now my rent is overdue for 13 days. When I called some time someone answered and shouted at me. They say contract head office. No answer from head office, no reply for email. I am really under stress. My property is 3 bedrooms house Last four years they are not even paying a two bedroom house rent . No rent review, tenants say they are taking direct debit from their account. One day their head office say go to ombudsman. Landlord please be aware, don’t put your property to this agency. You have to beg for your moneyThanks

I had a terrible experience with Northwood Letting Agency, Derby branch and the landlords. They withheld my entire deposit, despite a professional end-of-tenancy clean and satisfactory inspections throughout my stay. Although they initially agreed that wear and tear was normal, they later claimed I was responsible for extensive repairs to make the property look “like new.” They also conducted unannounced visits and took intrusive photos of my personal belongings during inspections. To top it off, they raised the rent during renewal, only to list it at the original rate after I left. Avoid this agency if you’re looking for a fair and professional rental experience.

GoogleA highly organised, supportive , friendly team based at four lane ends. I can’t praise Clare, Lindsey and the rest of the team highly enough in both helping us to sell and buy our homes. They make the process so much more easier than other companies and go out of their way to help us whenever needed. Unfortunately I had to give one star rating to allow me to rate this business. All I can say is if your property is worth a lot to you emotionally or financially If you ever think about Northwood Falkirk (Jim and his wife RUN!!!). Severe lack of communication along with lies of funds from Tennant and when challenged no reply. Also never mind the lies that I’ve been told that have cost me over £5000!! I was fooled with his chat. I’ve paid the price and lost my home of 18 years because of them. BEWARE.

Beware this company. Did the guaranteed rent scheme withh one of their branches and they've called in liquidators. Took 6 months rent from our tenant just weeks beforehand then knocked us for rent. "head office" ignored everything then send out an email at 5pm on a Friday. Apparently theres nothing they can do, even though the keys to our flat are being held by people we dont know.Want to have terrible experience and lose money? - Choose Northwood

GoogleTerrible customer service. Requested to view a publicly listed property over two weeks ago, no contact until we chased it up several days ago. Appointment made to finally view said property today only to be contacted 5 hours before saying the house had been bought. Not the first time we have been completely neglected by this letting agency before we've even looked round a property. If the attentiveness is this poor before even viewing a property I dread to think how they function with actual tenants.

GoogleIf I could give it 0 stars I would. Inpetant and rude. Tour around the flat was rushed and inpersonal, she couldn't answer any of our questions. Lasted all of 2 minutes and it was clear she didn't want to be there. She also kept the fees and what was required of us silent until we went to sign for it. Put a holding fee down on a flat with the Manager. She told us the flat was ours. We bought furniture and were meant to be moving in in the next month. We get an unapologetic EMAIL (not even the Courtesy of a call) a week later to say it had been rented to someone else. It's worth mentioning the estate agent knew the day after we signed the flat and kept it to herself, couldn't be bothered to let a know before we wasted money ordering furniture for a flat we actually didn't have. When we phoned up angry, the estate agent had a horrible attitude, and made it out to not be even remotely her fault. She couldn't explain herself or her behaviour, and just continued to make sarcastic remarks such as "I've already explained it to the other girl. Do I need to explain it to you as well?" They offered no help on finding another flat. There was no proper apology. Disgraceful. Perhaps the worst estate agents I've encountered. Dont bother.

My recent tenancy with Northwood has been a frustrating experience from start to finish. Despite following all instructions provided at the end of the tenancy, including using their recommended professional cleaning service, I was still met with additional charges and deductions that felt excessive and unjustified.Communication during the checkout process was particularly disheartening. Despite my efforts to provide evidence showing the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy (including existing damages), these were largely dismissed or minimized. The agent's stance felt more focused on extracting additional costs than on fair assessment.To add to the frustration, I later discovered that it is actually illegal for agents to require professional cleaning services at the end of a tenancy. Yet, they insisted that we use professional cleaning service and even demanded an invoice as evidence.Overall, this experience has been marked by disappointment and frustration. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Northwood's services to anyone seeking a smooth and fair rental experience.

GoogleNorthwood Benton Office dealt with a sale of a property in Longbenton. They were accessible, knowledgeable about their local area and their estimate of value was exactly what the property went for. They acted as communication between myself and the buyers and kept the process moving along. I have absolutely no qualms in recommending this estate agent. They weren’t the cheapest quote though not much different. But, they were incredibly helpful down to taking final meter readings - and I consider their service absolute value for money.

If you're renting, stay away from Northwood Benton, Newcastle. They are rogue and unprofessional. Go for some other reputable firm. Northwood treat their tenants like dirt, they forget the fact that it's the tenants who pay the rent and help pay off the landlord's mortgage. The agent gets a cut from the landlord when the tenant pays, so shouldn't good customer service be provided to the tenant? Not quite with Northwood. They're more focused on keeping the landlord happy and look the other way when the landlord does any violation but expect the tenant to fully comply. Stay well clear of this rogue agency, you'll regret it after you sign up with them. With such malpractices in place, don't give away your hard earned money to them as a tenant or as someone who wants to sell their property. Find a more ethical agency that deserves your money, you'll be doing the public a favour.

We had Northwood to manage two properties over the last 7-8 years but I can honestly say what a complete waste of time they say they will inspect and send you a report every three months this didn’t happen they allow contractors to carry out work without your permission and charge extortionate prices we said no pets and allowed three gunea pigs in a run in our newly carpeted living room that had the run of the house they allowed two snakes in a vivarium in the bedroom when they sold my property an agreed 1% commission was not applied and charged me more I also ended up selling the property myself as there sales representative did not show up for the prospective buys if I could give this company 0 stars I would anyone reading this please think twice about renting or buying please find another estate agent

This is a woeful estate agents. Where do I start just never rent a house from them! Poor attitude to tenants. Slow working to provide information. Come into your house without providing any information when they are coming. This includes unlocking the door where my wife was in a towel. House fixing is slow had a bathroom floor what dropped and it took 8 months of leaking to fix. When trying to get hold of them it’s impossible or it the I call you back but never do. I see they aren’t getting as many houses to let most likely due to there poor attitude across the board. Now waiting for my deposit back but nobody is calling back. Would add more but I be here all day typing about this shocking place. Stay wellClear

Northwood York is the worst agent in the world. I paid for the all the cleaning before checking out. They posted me a letter with the time of checking out which is 4:00 pm. The agent came at 3:00 pm and she was very unhappy at first when coming to the property. I don't know why. I was about to bring packed rubbish out at that time. I thought there was one hour ahead out checking out. She was mad at this and even asked me for the informing letter (are you professional with your work?). Then I showed her the letter and told her that she should come to the property at 4:00 pm, so don't be unhappy! This was sorted out. But she asked for more payment on the cleaning (just money, money and money). I have all the proofs about what I said here. I retain the right to pursue legal actions.

I haven't actually moved in yet, but so far have had no issues with this letting agent, and am due to move into a property in a few weeks.Dealing through Email has been a massive help, and having only one point of contact makes things easier as well.I have to give 4 stars as the deposit and application fees are a bit higher, but the deposit comes back and it wouldn't be free to apply for anywhere.Many, many thanks to Jadine Walbrook so far.
