Unfortunately, i read these reviews quite late and I am in agreement with all the negative opinions about Bridgfords Withington. We tried to buy a flat, but when we told them that we have our own mortgage advisor, the communication stopped. When we tried to get updates, they would try to discourage us to continue. They went on making an offer for our maximum budget, despite only having 1 additional buyer who offered 25k less than us. Dishonesty/ lack of transparency and totally unprofessionalism, especially Richard/ Hammad. I am happy I did not use their services, and I now select properties which are not in their portfolio. Quite sure the seller has received a lower offer as well, which is a shame as the flat was superb. Avoid!

Unprofessional is not even close to applicable when describing the conduct of Branch Manager, James Dodd. Having made an offer on a property (and a subsequently higher offer a short-time later due to a revised builders cost estimate), James proceeded to assume and misrepresent my intentions to the seller who then in turn accepted a lower offer on the understanding that I would attempt to renegotiate during the legal stage. This assertion is wholly untrue and I am completely bewildered as to why this has even been suggested to the vendor - who has now lost out on the higher sales price. I only became aware of what James had said to the vendor as a result of the fact that he took great pleasure in telling me that my true intentions were 'transparent' that he had 'seen this trick before'. This deplorable conduct was only to be made worse by the condescending and patronising tone in which he delivered this message. I am utterly appalled by James' behaviour and seek to discourage any seller using this branch in the future.

Absolutely awful experience dealing with Bridgefords, especially with James Dodd. We recently sold our property in Macclesfield through Bridgefords and had the misfortune of dealing with the condescending, arrogant and misogynistic branch manager James who would treat our every complaint as an inconvenience providing almost sarcastic replies in place of support or solutions. We were sceptical of using Bridgefords initially having used them to sell a previous property, however James undercut several other agencies and included services "free of charge". Unfortunately this was enough for us to list with Bridgefords at the time. The first red flag was that James continued to try and list our property for significantly less than other estate agents had valued and than similar properties in the area had sold for simply because "we had only recently brought the property for a lower price". It was only after providing examples (from my own research) of similar properties at higher prices that had sold in the area and using the average 5% increase in property value within Macclesfield during that time period, did we come to an agreement in the list price. Once agreeing a price James went ahead booking photographers for the listing, this was a shambles with the photographer turning up unaware that they were meant to take 360 photos so did not have the equipment to take them and had to return a few days later to finish the job. Once James had the photos he hurriedly listed the property on Rightmove and either through rushing or incompetence listed the property without photos of the Kitchen! When I raised this with him as an issue if was met with arrogant excuses rather than sincere apologies and a solution. After listing our property, James and the team were quick to get the 5 viewings they'd promised in our negotiation booked in, however these viewings were not worth the time they had be given as 2 were no shows (with no warning which ruined our plans for the day) and the others provided no feedback. We decided to manage the viewings ourselves from there at from that point had a number of interested party's and came to accept an offer at asking price. From there it was quite for a number of weeks-months as the chain progressed but unfortunately the original property we had intended to move to had several underlying issue arise in the survey and we had to pull out. This left us in a scramble to find an alternative property with no chain as quickly as possible as to not loose our buyers. This is when we had to once again deal with James who added undue pressure suggesting that we were obligated to move out of our current property and into rented accommodation or we would break the chain. This simply wasn't the case and insisted that James explain the situation to our buyers who completely understood and just asked for a month's notice (as they were currently in rented accommodation) once we had found a new property. James even tried to pit me and my fiancé against one another saying he had spoken to her already and she had agreed to move to rented accommodation when that was not true at all. The last conversation my fiancé had with James was the final straw. He was rude, undermining and completely uncalled for given that we were in fact his client. From then on we asked that all correspondence go via our solicitor which made the situation a lot less stressful for us. The moral of the story is to go with your gut instinct and not to be swayed by cheap sales tricks as the circa £3k we're paying Bridgefords feels alot more expensive given the experience.

Bridgfords Macclesfield were worth their weight in gold. A reassuringly safe pair of hands. The staff were professional, reliable, efficient and most kind and caring. James arrived to value our property; a most personable young man who gave us a realistic figure, which we were instantly happy with. He went to great lengths to explain his calculations and what our expectations of achieving the asking price would be. He was on the mark; we achieved the full asking price. The whole process was overseen from start to finish by Pauline; due to unforeseen circumstances, the chain broke fourth down the line, and took much longer to complete than anyone had anticipated. Pauline kept us up to date with affairs, gave us good sound advice along with her honest opinion when decisions had to be made; she had a most calming influence over proceedings when it was needed and a cracking sense of humour to lighten events. She was just utterly brilliant. Every office should have their very own Pauline. We are so pleased we did not choose a DIY estate agent - Bridgfords were worth every penny!

Stalybridge branch over promised under achieved

Put my property up for sale with them all they do is over promise, the staff have no idea, couldn’t accept any feed back and very patronising, everything was a struggle after 3 viewings in 7 months took house of the market with them. Absolutely useless as a manager of 40 years if they worked for me they would all be unemployed.Stalybridge branch over promised and under achieved.

Very happy with sale via Bridgfords Swinton

Very please with the service and result of selling my mother’s house via Bridgfords Swinton. Mike was knowledgeable and efficient. His sale price estimate was 20% higher than another local firm but he managed to achieve it. He also arranged to visit mum in her care home to complete the paperwork. Happy to recommend.

Branch staff good, conveyancing beyond horrendous

Started the journey of selling my flat with Bridgfords well, great listing, quickly found a buyer, then Bridgfords conveyancing service took over and was incompetent at every turn. 6 months on from accepting an offer I’ve had to end the sale as my mental health couldn’t handle anymore of the misleading, lies and gaslighting from their conveyancers. Was so bad even the branch staff said they were embarrassed at how bad it was.

Me and my girlfriend have just completed the purchase of our first home through Bridgefords, Macclesfield. From day one Pauline Adshead looked after us. We were always kept well informed of any progression or changes and felt we were in good hands. Although this was a particularly 'tricky' purchase for various reasons Pauline showed a lot of patience and professionalism throughout. We would both like to thank everyone at Bridgefords, Macclesfield especially Pauline for all her help, and would recommend to anyone!

If I could put 0 I would

If I could put 0 I would. My cousin gave notice that he was giving up the flat due to family and health issues. Before he was able to remove his things (within a week) they have taken his belonging and given only some clothing back. They have stolen a family air loom watch (Rolex) , cash that was for Christmas, not given back any expensive trainers .. they have drip fed some things back since like the tvs and yet to receive the Xbox, they have photos of his stuff on their report which they haven’t given back. They are not to be trusted . They are proceeding to trade non ethically and illegally. Reports to police have been made. They prey on vulnerable people

If you are looking for an office with good service, I can't advise this one for lettings. They breached their own T&C's and as a landlord, would not have known if the tenant didn't tell me. Then their nonchalant attitude and compete …

Couldn't have dealt with a bigger bunch of thieves. Firstly we couldn't view the property as we where living abroad at the time and my first question was if the property had double glazing since I knew there was a club very close by and was concerned about the noise. At this point I should have walked away but they started by lying and saying they thought it was closed, even though I was clear I already knew it was there. Then came moving in to find the flats main radiator was broken, the place was a mess (despite them constantly telling us it had been 'deep cleaned' another clear lie) and 20+ broken lightbulbs. I then went on to find the radiator that did work was by the door that fit so poorly it did nothing to warm the flat as the heat went straight out the door, also the bathroom tap dribbled to the point of not working, the extractor in the bathroom wouldnt work, the smoke detector was broken (this is illegal) and the oven wouldn't heat up more than 180. Complained about all this, told it would be repaired. Someone came to repair the bathroom extractor, NOTHING else. Complained, told someone would come out, nothing. Moving out a year later, would have moved a second earlier if I could, and NONE of the issues have yet to be fixed. Despite sending countless emails and highlighting this is a breach of contract and illegal in the case of the smoke detector. Every time I was told right we will send someone out and then nothing happened. They just want you to shut up and hang up. Event went in person a few times and they try and make you feel like you are being the pest. A functional heater is NOT being a pest, its essential especially over winter. Another small example of them trying to make you feel small whilst weasling out of responiblity is I do not have access to my water and electricity meters and need a key to get into another door. I was told my neighbours all have keys and just ask one of them when I need a reading with a tone of me being a pest. Mm.. if my neighbours all have keys why do I not have one? I will never deal with them again and after telling a friend they have shared similar experiences, such as when buying they were told the current occupier would be willing to move out sooner, but when speaking to them directly they said they needed more time not less! His summary is they would tell you anything to sign on that dotted line. Avoid like the plague! Update: When moving out I was put in touch with Amanda who I had not dealt with during my tenancy. Everything she has done has been great and she does seem to genuinely care. She has also told me that the people I have dealt with had been fired during the move to the new office (which I can confirm is true) and she helped with me issues around my deposit. Also as soon as she heard about the smoke alarm she did come around with a new working one. She has asked me to edit this review which i am happy to do for her sake however my original review still stands since her being good at the end doesn't change what I went through during the tenancy. She has pointed out some of these issues are to do with the landlord but since I could only talk through Bridgfords who failed to communicate anything like this to me and should be more careful with their choice of landlords if these issues arrise I still think this review applies.
