I take great pleasure to write this…

I take great pleasure to write this review. Ruth is AMAZING! I experienced her superb service during my time helping a friend to find accommodation. The level of service she provides is key and very important when anyone finds themselves looking for a place. Professionalism, great people’s skills, transparency and understanding just to name a few. Her passion for her job and tenants/customers really does show. As a result, it’s very refreshing and encouraging. Thank you.

Fab Manchester Uncle Team

Reviews need to be honest. To give a full picture.UNCLE building is located very much in the heart of Manchester, close to amenities, including the main train station. That was one of the main reasons why me and my commuting Husband chose this place for our home. Our flat, like all others, is single-bed which some would consider quite small, especially for a couple. And it is quite expensive. There is a few things I'd consider in here as downsides: - lack of central heating- lack of on-demand hot water in kitchen and bathroom sink (you need to start heating the water [boiler] about 30min before use and I think this is ridiculously inconvenient) - if you like a warm room your electricity heating bills over winter may be really expensive as there are electric heaters installed- furnitures are not luxurious! ;) haha I love when "minimalist" expensive Ikea-type furnitures are called luxurious, while they are bit poorly made (but that should be a different review for made.com) - if like us you're not a student and want to find a place to call home (including invite people over, cook, etc) you'll find the miniature of a fridge not sufficient to hold everything you needI'd really say for us as well as most likely other people UNCLE Manchester is a stepping stone to something else. It's a place to stay when either being a student (although in my opinion for quite well-to-do student!), single professional that mostly eats out and stores beer or take-out in the fridge or... people like us - married, that just moved to Manchester and try to check the place out before making more permanent decisions. Benefits are for sure access to a nicely equipped gym, yoga studio or lovely office area. Also - our delivery orders are never gone missing thanks to the reception! (which happened before when living in stand alone house!). Finally, UNCLE benefits immensely from a really engaged Team of been most welcoming, helpful and overall lovely people. Lois, Grace, Kerry, Simon, Andrew (and others that are not working here any more) make this place warmer, homier and fun :). Smile, little small-talk every time I see them makes my day and is always appreciated. Keep it up! :)

Luxury living with UNCLE in NEW CROSS

UNCLE in New Cross is situated in a quiet and lovely road accompanied by a cosy cafe next to the beautiful small Fordham Park. The apartments are modern and quite luxury so you can make yourself a charming and comfortable home. The UNCLE team is very cooperative , sympathetic and supports your living as rather a team of friends than just an agency. On top of this they provide a great parcel system including both storage and notification that you can easily pick up your parcels whenever you are free.It is a great place to live.

So far we couldn’t be happier!!

So far we couldn’t be happier!!Everything along the way, from the first email exchange, viewings, background check,... the move; is extremely simple and hassle free. No dramas or issues.Everything is dealt with swiftly and you feel very much welcome. With apartments that have jaw dropping views it’s really up and above anywhere else. The team is great and you get the sensation that they are there for you, to help you along the way; and not just to collect the rent every month. All in all very happy and huge thanks to the Uncle team for all so far.

The Uncle Team are fantastic!

The Uncle Team are fantastic! They always make sure to make you feel welcome with their warm and friendly approach. Especially Jamella's famous Welcoming message on the phone line which she always matches that enthusiastic energy when you actually speak to her. They always have time to speak and listen to our concerns. The only thing I could say is I believe the sky lounge should be open till 3am on weekends. It's a facility for the residents but we dont get to enjoy it all the time. If the gym can be 24hours then I think the sky lounge can be open for 3 extra hours on weekends.

We love living in the UNCLE Building!

We love living in the UNCLE Building! The building itself is beautifully designed and engineered to make it extremely comfortable and practical. The staff are amazing. They are all so friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to get to know the residents and arrange resident, but without being intrusive in any way. We were the first tenants in our flat, so there were a few issues that needed ironing out, but the staff responded very quickly to emails, and the problems were fixed very quickly and efficiently. The building location is excellent, being close to the Elephant and Castle Underground station, and an easy 15-20 minute walk to cross the river to the North bank into Westminster. Elephant and Castle is a very interesting, up and coming area with several new buildings and parks being developed. I highly recommend this building and the company in general.

Highly recommend UNCLE Stockwell

I just moved out of UNCLE Stockwell yesterday, and can honestly say that I will miss it massively. I enjoyed two years in a clean, well-furbished studio with views overlooking the London skyline. I moved out for career reasons; I would've happily stayed on if I hadn't gotten a new job elsewhere. The team - Andrew, Daniel, Maria and Vanessa - have been incredible. When I first moved in, a different team were in place, who were nice but a bit inconsistent about their conduct; since these guys have been in, interaction has always been totally friendly and professional.UNCLE Stockwell is walking distance to Brixton and Clapham, and I comfortably walked to London Bridge every morning. Really easy to get to central and south London on public transport. An awesome apartment that I'll really miss - grateful to have spent two happy years there.

If money isn't a problem, fine. If you don't like feeling ripped off, be careful.

I've been living in an Uncle property for about 3 months now. The rooms and building are nice and modern, but expect to pay for it.Also expect extortionate fees for vending and washing machines. They will increase prices citing financial grounds, while at the same time offering you discounts on things you don't need like massages. Clearly there are no financial concerns or they wouldn't be offering the latter while doing the former. Like most other places, they talk "customer/tenant first" but it's just that, talk. So, if money isn't a problem for you personally, then fine. I'm sure you'll love it. But if you don't like feeling like you're being ripped off, be very careful before making your decision.

Hi Adam,We know that one of our team members has responded to your email directly, so hopefully that has already helped explain. We are very much aware of the current challenges being placed on everyone with so many costs increasing significantly. As a company we are also affected by the utility cost increases put in place by our providers and have had to change the pricing of our washing machines to reflect this.I appreciate this isn’t the response you would hope to hear, however, we always try to be upfront and transparent. Please know that we carefully analyse all required utility information when setting costs to ensure it is fair for everyone and we have explicitly kept tumble drying costs free to try and help reduce the cost impact. Even with this increase in price, we are still a lot cheaper than laundrettes in the local area. We're sorry to hear you don't enjoy the free perks and partnerships of living at UNCLE, but hopefully the rest of your tenancy is enjoyable. As always, feel free to reach out to our team directly -- they live on site!Best,UNCLE

UNCLE New Cross

Excellence - one word says it all. All members of UNCLE New Cross team are super nice and professional. Shaqira and Caroline were happy to answer any questions we had regarding the property and services, and once we decided to rent a flat it was all stress-free with updates on every step all the way to moving in. Shaqira, Caroline and Paco are all approachable with positive attitude and willingness to help you no matter what. We had one issue after we moved in and it was resolved in less than 24 hours. Professional, quick to respond and always there for you if you need as the concierge is open 6 days a week. Highly recommended agency to work with after a number of bad experiences.

Enjoy living at Uncle New Cross

We had a stress-free move into our apartment at Uncle New Cross. Everything was well organised by the management and they answered all of our questions and gave many recommendations on what to discover in the area. We moved to London from abroad and so it was a nice surprise that the team was more than happy to help us with other questions we were having. The area is nice and has a good connection to the centre. The apartment itself is very modern and well equipped. We really enjoy living here :)

Uncle New Cross - Amazing staff

Moving places is always a tricky process, however, my experience with Uncle has been fantastic. I moved recently to Uncle New Cross, where thanks to Caroline an all of the amazing on-site staff, we had a very smooth transition to our new HOME. It is amazing to find a staff team that will go the extra mile to ensure you are happy with your flat. The building is really clean and in great conditions, we had a minor issue with our heating and the staff solved the problem that exact day, they know how to take care of their tenants. I have had some bad experiences with previous landlords during my time in London, but I´m happy to say that it wasn´t the case with Uncle and I will definitely recommend it to anybody.

Manchester UNCLE

Manchester UNCLEThe year I spent in UNCLE's location in Manchester has been wonderful due to 2 things - the location and the staff who work there. The building is so central and so close to everything you would ever need in a city centre. Being a stones throw from bars/shops/Universities/stations is a dream. The employees of UNCLE have always been so helpful and thoughtful in my experience. They are very welcoming and courteous and I've never had any problems with them.Living in a listed building obviously comes with its teething problems such as heat regulation and noise regulation however I was always thankful that there were things being put in place to counteract these problems. We were the first to move in out flat ever, so problems cannot be solved until they are obvious. The gym and the yoga studio were a lovely added extra and my mind was at rest with my car as they had underground parking. Lovely rooms and modern furnishings.Very sad to leave and have had a great time here overall

Old Meets New in Manchester

UNCLE Manchester is a stunning old building in Manchester’s city centre that has been restored (with all the retrofits that you’d want including super fast elevators and reliable broadband). There are some wonderful public areas, including a gym and yoga studio, art studio and co-working space. These have made my move to Manchester nearly effortless as everything I need is in the building and at my fingertips. In the event that I’ve needed help with anything, Jodi, Simon and their team have been beyond helpful. They’re thoughtful, efficient and I’ve never had a maintenance problem that was not fixed the very same day that it was reported to them. The flats are above and beyond what you’d expect (modern appliances, furniture that has been thoughtfully placed and chosen) and there are lovely little designer details everywhere like subway tiles in the kitchens and bathrooms as well as complementing light fixtures. I was so happy at Orient House during my first stay in Manchester that I’m moving back in on my return in a few weeks. Highly recommended!

Orient House Manchester: recommend !

I moved to the UK about 10 months ago and was fortunate enough to rent at Uncle Manchester. The staff was kind and friendly. They helped me with everything, from the process of moving/renting, to getting set up in a new and foreign country. That was a very positive experience! Everyone is very approachable and quick to help with any silly question I have. Orient House has a free gym, yoga studio, art studio. It is close to the city centre, Picadilly Station, and main bus lines. It's ideal for me, I feel well taken care of, would absolutely recommend!!

Update: Happy to be living in Manchester

I originally gave 2 stars but things have improved greatly. You can read the original below for transparency. All of our original issues have been addressed and fixed where physically possible. While it took a bit of time, Ryan and his team ended up taking a proactive approach to solving everything and we were kept informed by all the progress. The building is old and took a lot of work but it is now a pleasant place to live and it does feel like the Uncle team actually want and try to make a difference.(Original Review :Unfortunately the advertised quality of the buildings is not true. The Manchester building is uninsulated, freezing cold and poorly built. Walls are so thin you can hear all of your neighbours and the fire doors in the corridors every time they slam shut. Single glazed windows and poor heaters means flats are cold and draughty. Bathrooms have a small towel rail as an inadequate heating solution. Corridors and stairwells have no heating and are the same temperature as outside. Complaints have so far had no progress.)

Excellent London Accommodation

UNCLE Stockwell has been my home for 9 months from October 2022 to June 2023. I cannot recommend the service provided by the UNCLE Stockwell team more highly. I have felt very well looked after by Ruth, Duncan and Paul. UNCLE Stockwell residents are very lucky to have Ruth and Duncan managing the building.

Uncle Southall

Having lived at Uncle Southall for just under a year now, we find ourselves disappointed by the landlord's will to put money first. We moved into a flat where not all electrical wiring worked properly, not all things that were supposed to fix to walls were indeed fixed, underfloor heating has to stay on otherwise it breaks and fixtures held by maybe a half of screws that were supposed to hold them. Granted, once flagged, most issues are resolved in timely manner, but there is no way around the fact that the property was poorly reviewed before lettings. The promises of area improvements later turned out to be unrelated to Uncle, and once sold as part of rent package, are not influenced to come about further.Promises of on-site facilities' openings are delayed by months or are never delivered, despite being sold with rent. The parking of cars on the pavements all around the property to an extent where passing to it or bringing in a bicycle becomes not possible, is being left to solve by itself. The banqueting hall next door, setting off fireworks which explode mere meters from balconies at 12am at night and loud parties until as late as 2:30am are also ignored by the landlord. And, to put a cherry on top of - a staggering price raise of 14.5%, coming live in two months, which, as we were kindly explained, is backed up by landlord's feelings about the market alone, after we deconstructed previously given pretend-reasons.We are deeply saddened, because the property, by itself, is not bad (once everything inside will be brought to its operational condition) and the on-site staff do seem to do their job. The sad bit is that, despite all this, Uncle are the ones making all decisions and it feels like their only goal is money, right here and right now.We would abstain from recommending this property and this landlord to anyone, in their current state and ethos. Please do not trust their marketing)

Would definitely recommend...

We have lived in NXG since last June and have loved the flats and service from Uncle. The flat we are renting is large and spacious and having the roof terrace is a real plus. The flats are finished to a really high standard and if there are any issues Paco and Caroline are always very quick to help out and respond. Also having the management office on site to speak to and pick up parcels is a huge bonus, especially as there are no management fees for this. All the neighbours are friendly and its a great place to live in a really great part of London. We are sad to be leaving but are staying in New Cross, buy moving out to buy, if not we would happily stay. New Cross is such a great place to live in London and the location of the flats are perfect for both train stations into the city and south to Gatwick airport.Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to rent within south London.

NXG resident - great experience with UNCLE

I haven't been living in my current flat for too long but fell in love with the place as soon as I saw it! Spacious, clean and bright. The onsite managers at UNCLE - Caroline and Paco were really helpful through all the contract process and my moving in. Always pleasant to talk to and would never shy away from helping when I have a query even something small. In all honesty I haven't had to go to them for much recently at all which goes to show there are rarely any issues to be had living in the New Cross Apartments.

More like friends than managers

I highly recommend Uncle. The flats themselves are smart, spacious, light and well-finished, but the best thing about this handily located apartment complex in New Cross is the resident managers, Caroline and Paco, who take great care of the several dozen flats and their inhabitants. A former dancer and boatbuilder, they bring a unique perspective - and heaps of enthusiasm- to the role. They always go the extra mile (and then some) to make sure we are happy and have what we need to make our lives run more smoothly, and it's not an exaggeration to say that they feel more like friends than managers. It's hard to imagine ever leaving Uncle now - amid the usual nightmares of the London letting scene, this place is a dream.

Absolutely Horrible Manager

Absolutely horrible Managers. Me and a friend have been looking for a place for a while and have to move in the first week of October and we finally decided to go ahead with Uncle Living Southall . I personally visited the property twice and spoke to the person showing my the property. He was absolutely incredible and genuinely very very nice. Once we said yes to the property and no to two others which we had kept as our other options and sent some of our details to them. Next day the property manager calls up my friend and tells her that even though we both have well earning guarantors and are only renting for 6 months , they need us to pay the rent for 6 months upfront. Opposite to what I had been told during both my viewings with them and their official email with all the details about their property. When I tried contacting them they didn’t even pick up atleast 15 times. Then the guy who had showed me around called me and upon being confronted about the misinformation from his side, the confusion and the problem it was causing me and my friend, all he said was sorry. When I asked for either a solution, a negotiation or a compensation for the inconvenience it caused us making us lose two other properties and leaving us with only a couple of weeks to find a new place, he still just said sorry. So I asked to speak to the person who had called my friend; the property manager. This person calls me up angrily saying how dare I get upset with his employee. He would cut all my sentences and when I asked him not to do so, he said he will and I need to listen to him. When I proved to him that this was all his employee’s fault and that had caused all the confusion and frustration, he did not pay any attention to it and proceed to tell me how it was all my fault. I told him I never intended to get upset at his employee, I actually liked him , but this mistake of his was costing us time , money and two houses! He still did not care and was upset I was “pointing fingers”! I was ready to even apologise to his employee if he could give me any solution or resolution now whatever but he still was mad at me and blamed me for everything. I appreciate him defending his employee , but doing it at the cost of someone else and when it definitely was his employee’s mistake is absolutely not ok.
