First time in a big unfamiliar city. UNCLE E&C was a safe space for me.

It was my first time living alone and abroad at that, so far away from home and my family. But everyone at UNCLE Elephant and Castle were so extremely friendly that it made it so much easier to build a second home for myself there. From the concierges, to the maintenance team, management team, and every other team. My apartment became a safe familiar space for me in such a big unfamiliar city and I’m so grateful for that. So sad to go but wish everyone that made my experience what it was all the best. ◡̈

Application process was quick and efficient!

Not physically moved in yet so can’t comment on that, but the whole viewing and application process with Liv and the team couldn’t have gone more smoothly!! From our initial viewing less than one week ago at Leeds UNCLE Whitehall block B, to finishing all reference checks and paying the deposit. We could have moved in today if we wanted to which means all in all, it took only 6 days from viewing to receiving the keys!!

best of the best

I had a really great experience renting with Uncle Acton. The staff, especially Tessa, Savannah, Harry and Nathan, were incredibly friendly and made the whole stay feel welcoming. Whenever I had a question or needed help with something, they were always quick to respond and genuinely helpful, which made a big difference.

Worst Experience at Uncle Deptford (New Built? Don't think so)

I have been a tenant of Uncle Deptford between Sep 24 to Sep 25, it was a terrible experience and in particular, Ayde Apartmetns was shambles.

Gareth · 13 July 2026

Agent replied · 22 September 2026

Hi Gareth, Thanks for sharing this, and we want to be upfront: the pipe works during that period were a genuine disruption, and we understand that living alongside construction is frustrating, regardless of how necessary the repairs were. That's a fair criticism. That said, we don't have a record of a resident named Gareth at UNCLE Deptford, and the details around check-out and reception interactions are difficult for us to verify or respond to fairly without being able to trace the tenancy. We're not dismissing the experience, but we do want to be honest that we can't confirm who this review is from, which makes it hard to address properly. If you are a former resident and want to talk through what happened, including anything around the construction period or how your move-out was handled, please get in touch directly at deptford@uncle.co.uk. We're happy to have that conversation properly. Kind regards, UNCLE Deptford

A sharing of an experience.

I’ve been living in the Elephant & Castle area for two years, but just moved into this place recently. Still getting used to it, though. A few days ago, my package got delivered to the wrong floor, I thought it would be a very troublesome matter, but who would have thought that Farid gave me a lot of help. He was very patient and helped me search in every corner and floor until the package was found. I highly recommend Farid and Paul. They are both very approachable and greet and smile at the neighbors every day. I recommend this apartment.

Uncle Leeds- Polly

Checking in at UNCLE Leeds was an experience in itself. Polly, who helped us check-in and took us through all the necessary information made took the guesswork out of figuring out the apartment and made us feel welcomed. Amazing staff and facilities.

Me & my partner have been with UNCLE…

Me & my partner have been with UNCLE manchester for nearly a year now, they’re always on hand to help whenever you have any issues and have always been really kind and understanding, especially when my circumstances changed during the year due to work. Our apartment has a STUNNING kitchen view with mill style windows and it comes fully furnished. Parking is highly affordable (£60-100) which is a massive plus along side it being a 5-10 minute walk to Piccadilly train station, Oxford road station and St Peter’s Tram stop with local shops within a 2 minute walking distance. There is a work space, small gym, yoga studio & art space which is perfect for people who work from home or is a student. These are, majority of the time, fairly empty which is perfect so you get your use out of it. Although I’ve seen some reviews say the building is outdated and not worth the money (which Manchester is overly expensive anyway nowadays), I think majority of the things I have listed can make up for the minor things, along with it being a beautiful building with a lot of character and having really nice people to live with who always make you feel welcomed and like a friend. We are first time renters and I’m definitely glad we picked UNCLE for our first home together, we love the little home we have made💗

Uncle Southall

This review concerns Uncle Southall, and before I list the bad stuff here are the good things about the building:-The flats are high quality in a high specification building. It was completed in the last 3 years, and with double glazing and insulation the flat is easy to heat. -The ventilation is also great-Generally a quiet buildingThe bad stuff:-Unbreakable 6-12 month contracts-There were issues with the lifts/internet over several months in 2023 - no refunds offered.-The move out cleaning fee will be taken from your deposit even if you leave the apartment in a spotless condition. Old school landlord practices.

John · 26 May 2024

Agent replied · 24 August 2024

Hi John,First of all, let's start by saying that we're truly sorry your experience at UNCLE Southall wasn't quite up to our usual standards. As we really, really hate letting residents down, we wanted to take a minute to address the points you've made one by one. That said, we know review forums aren't the best place to have these types of conversations, and we always prefer to speak directly if you do want to reach out to us.First up, we know that sometimes residents want to end their tenancy early, but the reality is that it just isn't possible for us to accommodate that every time a request is made. If we did, we wouldn't be able to build our properties to such a high standard or create the type of coworking and gym facilities that we hope you enjoyed in your time as a resident; it just isn't sustainable. We do ask that residents stick to the contracts they signed (that's why we make them so clear and easy to understand). We know the internet had some challenges early on, but we are confident it's been fixed since November 2023. Of course we're sorry that there wasn't more we could do until the correct engineer came out to fix it, and we're constantly working with our utility providers to make sure that when things do go wrong, we get the best possible support from them to get things fixed quickly. The same can be said about the lifts, as we know there was a period when lifts were down and our partner at that time was not able to fix them. We're pleased to say that we took on board feedback from residents who told us that wasn't good enough, we switched partners and since then the lifts have been working well.In terms of cleaning, we know that you did clean the flat and we do appreciate the effort you went to. That said, we think it's important that all new residents get to walk into their new home for the first time and find it cleaned to a top-notch professional standard (as would have been the case when you moved in). We're upfront with all residents that professional cleaning is required, and we hope you can appreciate why. We know that things don't always work, and whenever we can control the issue, we're proud to say our in-house teams respond as fast as humanly possible. But sometimes we rely on outside providers, and unfortunately the experience isn't always quite as we'd like it. It sounds like you had a few of those in your time living with us, and we're sorry. But we're glad you enjoyed the high-spec flats in a brand new building and its quiet spaces. Thanks so much,The UNCLE team

Living at UNCLE Wembley

Living at UNCLE Wembley has been such a great experience. The building is modern, clean, and has everything you need, gym, rooftop, and really nice apartments. What a great team, at Manchester Uncle.

I've been at Uncle Manchester for nearly 5 years and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Any time I needed maintenance help, they were there if not the same day, the next day (issue dependant). Cannot fault them. Adam & Neil have been the best maintenance guys I could have ever asked for. It's hard for me to trust people in my living space, but I trust these two!! Easy to have a laugh with as well!

Uncle Elephant & Castle

During our year at Uncle Elephant & Castle, we found several aspects both commendable and wanting. Undoubtedly, the brightest aspect of our stay was the exceptional concierge service. Farid and Paul, in particular, were not just efficient, but truly added a personal touch with their warm interactions and dedication to helping residents. On the flip side, the building had its challenges. Maintenance was occasionally on the slower side, and having one of the three elevators out of service for a significant period was inconvenient. The facilities, while functional, didn't scream luxury. A noticeable number of students residing in the building imparted a "dorm" feel to the place. Moreover, the creaking noises during windy nights did test my patience. To sum it up, my stay was overall positive but highlighted the need for an upgrade in terms of amenities and environment.I should mention that the end of my tenancy was marred by the issuing of a Section 21 notice, ensuring I vacated the premises at its conclusion. While I've been informed that this is standard practice, I firmly believe it's a bad one. It undoubtedly left a bitter taste after an otherwise decent experience.

Yiannis · 1 September 2023

Agent replied · 24 August 2024

Hi Yiannis,We're sorry to hear you had a mixed experience with us at UNCLE Elephant and Castle. We agree with you that Paul and Farid are absolute rockstars and we're glad they made UNCLE feel like home. That's what our brand is all about. We are aware of the lift problems, and did our absolute best to have them fixed. Unfortunately, they require an engineer call out and we are dependent on external teams to solve them and cannot do it ourselves. Fixes often require specific parts manufactured abroad and manufacture/import time is outside our control unfortunately.Similarly, we're sorry that you found the building had a dorm vibe. We want to make sure E&C is a safe and comfortable home for everyone - students and professionals - and we make sure the same rules are enforced so it feels like home for all. We've taken into consideration your point on Section 21 and are thinking about how to best execute both our legal obligations and the resident experience we know you've come to expect from UNCLE.As always, we'd love to have you come back to UNCLE and wish you best of luck in your next adventure.Best,UNCLE

Surprised at the reviews on here

Surprised at the reviews on here. My review is for UNCLE Colindale. It is quite a nice place to live but there are a few things you should know (in my opinion). I have included good/bad and minor things to give you a full picture:

Nancy · 8 May 2026

Agent replied · 26 May 2026

Hi Nancy, Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We do want to be upfront about one thing: we've been unable to locate you on our resident system, which does make it difficult to look into some of your specific concerns directly. We'd encourage you to come and speak to us if you are a current resident, as we'd rather resolve things properly than leave them unanswered. On the lift issues, you're right and we won't dress it up. Over the past six months we've experienced an unusually high number of breakdowns, which has been frustrating for everyone in the building. We're in regular contact with our lift contractor and engineers are called out immediately whenever a fault is reported. The windows opening to one inch is a building-wide health and safety requirement and isn't something we're able to change. On the heating standing charge, this is genuinely the first time we've heard this raised and we'd want to look into it properly. We'd need to speak with you directly to do that. Our service providers, including the fixed arrangements for heating and electricity, are communicated clearly on every tour before anyone signs a lease. Regarding reception and parcels, the team has expanded and we now have cover at the desk during the day with extended office hours. We're also on a Saturday, though not a Sunday. There were periods where our intercom was out of service and a new system had to be ordered, which did cause some missed deliveries during that time. The intercom is now fixed. The package room system is run by Parcel Safe Place and the wait time for codes is something we've raised with them directly, though it's unfortunately outside of our control. On the movie room, we're currently a very full building so it is a popular space. We've already made changes to the booking rules to stop the same flats booking repeatedly, which should make availability fairer for everyone. On the emails, we do send reminders about smoking, noise and pets when we need to, because we get regular reports from residents on all of these. We also send plenty of emails about events and things happening in the building, so it's not all one-directional. A couple of things worth clarifying. On rent, we're priced competitively against comparable buildings in the area. On pets, the £50 per month charge was removed across the entire UNCLE portfolio as of 1st May and no longer applies. And yes, we're very close to the tube. That's one of the reasons people choose to live here, though we do acknowledge it brings some noise. Any resident who has concerns about noise is always welcome to speak to us about switching to a different flat. Kind regards, UNCLE Colindale

Uncle: A bad landloard!

A company who markets themselves as differnet from 'bad landloards' but who have acted worse than any landlord I have expereinced. Beautiful apartments with very poor services. Typically one lift in Uncle Elephant and Castle is broken at any given time, however more recently the front door and inner door have been broken for weeks on end and the bin room is utterly disgusting! The Sky Bar is now not open until after 9am meaninig if you work from home you will not be able to use the space for morning office hours. Frequent private renting of the space limits residence use of the area. As my tenancy has come to an end, the rent increase was set at over £500 per month (after 12 months) I will not be renewing! Some of the concierges are really nice and frankly the only positive part of my experience in Uncle however others are quite rude to tennants. In my final months of tennancy, the UNCLE team have elected to send blunt emails stating that they will be accessing my apartment unlawfully (without consent) to show prospective tennants around on Sundays.Overall, the worst landloard I have experienced in a poorly maintained building at highly inflated rent - go elsewhere as London as much better to offer! Same on Uncle for being what they shame in their marketing - a bad landloard!

David · 10 December 2022

Agent replied · 24 August 2024

Hi David, We’re sorry to hear you feel that way; we take our promise to take the ‘lord’ attitude out of ‘landlord’ pretty seriously. It sounds like there’s quite a bit here for us to respond to. We know the lifts have been frustrating, we've been frustrated too, working long hours to try and sort them as soon as possible. We’ve had multiple engineers out to site and continue to do everything we can to make them work. Unfortunately, we’re not engineers so we do have to rely on our contractors. Similarly, we have a strict rotation of the staff to clean the bin room. We’re going to look into this further, and remind all of our residents to please help out between cleanings. We’re glad to hear you like working from the 45th floor Sky Lounge; it’s one of our favourite places at UNCLE too! The hours of the Sky Lounge have been set for awhile, as we’ve found when we have it open all the time, it can unfortunately get messy or be mis-used by a few less thoughtful tenants, leading to complaints. We know that occasionally it can be closed, eg for the in building Sofar Sound shows, but we do try to ensure that residents can use the space for free whenever possible, which is why we don’t allow residents to privately book, despite many requests. We are of course disappointed to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with our staff. We’ve escalated this internally and are looking into how all of our staff, whether concierge or other, treat every single resident. We believe every person should be treated with dignity and joy, and do our best to do so in every interaction. Similarly, we have read through all email records and have shown your flat for prospective tenants following all requirements set out in the Tenancy Agreement, including notifying you with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice, that we will be coming and at what time. We set our rents inline with the local market and are sorry that you are choosing not to renew, but hope that you will find a great home to rent. As always, if you want to discuss further, please reach out to our team directly, who are on site 24/7. Best, UNCLE

Fantastic experience so far, happy I moved here

I’ve been living at UNCLE Deptford for three months now and I have absolutely loved my experience. The building itself is relatively near to multiple train and tube stations, so getting around is pretty easy. The apartments are spacious, well-fitted and competitively priced. Also, due to the tripleglazing, they are so quiet that you forget that you’re actually in an apartment block sometimes. The staff are extremely friendly and competent at what they do, and really focus on driving community within the residents, which adds to the homely feel (e.g. John, the maintenance officer for the building, who always sorts out any issues within hours)There is a post room on site, where your post is automatically sorted for you, which is so helpful. There’s even a workspace on site, fully equipped with meeting rooms, phone booths and a pantry for some brain fuel or late night snacks!I love living here and it’s had a positive impact on my mental health, really happy that I decided to move here.

Uncle Deptford

I've been thoroughly enjoying my experience with Uncle Deptford. It's clear they've thoughtfully designed every aspect of the tenant journey, from the viewing (shoutout to Safiah for her patience) to the move-in (thanks to Annabelle for the snazzy trolley) and even the aftercare (the welcome card was a cute touch, the follow-up emails with useful guides were so thoughtful, etc.). The flats are equipped with energy-efficient features and elegantly furnished by BoConcept. It's November and I still haven't turned on the heating - and I was born in Brazil!I probably spend more time in the coworking space than at home but it's not as sad as it sounds because it's absolutely GORGEOUS, even the toilet. Seriously. There are snacks provided by Pantree which I know will ruin my bank account... Only problem is that the chairs are too pretty to be comfortable=/ Ah! Their internet providers Ask4 do not have great reviews either, but so far only one day with slow internet. All the staff is very helpful and friendly, including the contractors finishing the new build to the resident dog Maya <3But I'll stop here because I want to be able to afford this next year haha.

Uncle Colindale, 10/10 service from the team

I’ve been living at Uncle Colindale for a year and a half, and it’s honestly felt like home from day one. Everyone here, especially Serina, Mavis, Annabelle, Taher, and the repairs team are amazing! Walking in and having them know me and my dog by name gives such a community vibe. They’re genuinely warm, always up for a chat, and are super accommodating when scheduling inspections.Though I haven’t needed many repairs, the one time I did, the team was there within hours…super efficient! Also, moving within the building was a breeze. Thanks to Serina and Taher, I found a perfect flat to swap to in no time, and the contract was all set in days. Zero hassle, stellar support from the team! The gym, co-working space and garden are always clean and fully functional, making the whole experience here at Uncle very enjoyable. Thanks to the whole team for being so kind and friendly!

UNCLE Leeds

Have moved in to UNCLE for about 2 months now. Encountering battery running flat in one of the smoke detectors at 3:30am was annoying and the weird sound of the fire alarm system after 8pm at the lift lobby was a little scary were the 2 instances which are not too pleasant so far for me. Apart from that, the gym is lovely and those guys at the reception are wonderful especially Alex. He will try to fix whatever issues right on the spot if he can. Looking forward to the co-working space and the bowling alley to be up soon and the parcel room which they are trying to improve on. On the whole, UNCLE is a great place to live in.
