Shocking service

We contacted Savills Harpenden to arrange a viewing. We found the agent that showed us round really helpful and friendly. We called the office the day after to put an offer on the property we viewed. We were then called by an agent (2 days after the initial viewing) to gather our feedback on the viewing which left us surprised as we had put an offer the day before. No one in the office seem to have formalised and sent to us the offer we made in writing or let us have a decision from the buyer. Shocking service really when you think their client might not even know he has an offer on his property!!! We are still waiting to hear 5 days on!

I have been an extremely lucky person to have had Ellis at the knutsford office helping me through a very stressful time with our purchase of 7 Millbank Close she has always and still is pleasant and very informative every time I have spoken to her.. moving house is very stressful and it certainly has for us as we have lived in our present house 50 years but Ellis always put my mind at rest as our sale had lots of delays. I can’t give zero stars unfortunately. Savills valued our house at £450000 but three other agents valued at £600000!!. They said they’d provide a report but we heard nothing. Ours is a 4 bed house and they’d just sold a 2 bed house nearby for £425000. Appalling service.

Very poor experience with London residential lettings business

The company’s London residential lettings business is the worst I’ve ever dealt with---a toxic mix of incompetence and outright dishonest behaviour. Special conditions in the tenancy agreement over maintenance to be completed before the tenancy start date were not met in full, getting maintenance done during the tenancy was impossible and there were multiple billing errors which were ultimately resolved but Savills was responsible for. The renewals process was also full of deceit and trickery. I agreed to the terms for renewal supposedly put forward by the landlord which included an assurance from Savills that the landlord would finally do maintenance/repairs. However, instead of going away and drawing up a contract to reflect our agreement by email Savills came back a couple of weeks later claiming the landlord withdrew the terms for renewal I had agreed to and wanted a higher rent amount. I of course pushed back on this. The response from Savills was that the landlord now wanted an even higher rent amount! To top it all off Savills were refusing to write into the contact that the landlord would complete maintenance/repairs while still claiming in “subject to contract” emails that the repairs would be done if only I signed an agreement without this wording. I’ve taken my business elsewhere and am now receiving a fantastic service from one of Savills’ many competitors in the London market.

Flat sale

Living in Edinburgh, I decided to get two quotes for the sale of my flat, one from an ESPC registered estate agent/solicitor and one from Savills, who are independent estate agents. The two experiences could not have been more different. Tom from Savills was extremely helpful and very enthusiastic about my flat, which I really appreciated as I had put so much time, effort & love into renovating it. By contrast, the agent from the ESPC solicitor seemed to lack any interest in selling the flat and was, I felt, rather disparaging. Additionally, the difference between the 2 valuation estimates was considerable. The sales team at Savills were also really helpful and quick to answer any queries. Ultimately, my flat sold for significantly more than the ESPC estate agent had suggested, so going with Savills was definitely the right choice, I would recommend them to anyone thinking of selling their property and will certainly use them again.
