Unrealistic and seems dodgy I decided to bid on couple of houses bids were going so high and ending time was supposed to be increased twenty five seconds but increased by hours without anyone bidding on the lots. Then suddenly you cant even see whats going on I thought I had a problem with my connection but then realised that their server is down. So I rang them and I had been told that their server was down and the auction was closed.

As per other reviews, ridiculous seller’s fees and a buyer’s premium to be paid without a receipt! How do they allow that sort thing to take place via their platform? Also, baffled why they charge the buyer a fee of £1k because they repeatedly fail to help with any query, their go to predictable response to most things tends to be “you need to contact the seller’s solicitor yourself about that”. It was my first property auction and if this is how it is, never again ;(

GoogleI'd be very careful of this "company" on 3 separate occasions I was advised the property wouldn't be sold prior. One day before the auction it's sold. Seems as though the good stock is sold prior to thier known associates. I've also noted properties coming onto auction and withdrawn prior when questioned I have been advised the seller had not passed aml checks ?!?! How that can occur is beyond me it seems there's a few ongoing investigations to these withdrawn properties

GoogleAbsolute farce! I've just finished trying to bid on today's (10 06 20) "so called" auction, just trying to get set up to be able to bid was nigh on impossible and the guide prices were way off the mark! A complete waste of my time and effort. The auction was not "live" in the true sense of the word as all properties were open for bidding for about 5 hours with no phone bidding allowed. This whole episode was ill thought out and and badly executed and I will not be using them again, I'm certain many other bidders will feel the same.
Hi Vincent. We feel we have adapted very well to meet the needs of sellers and buyers by offering our first online auction on the 10th June 2020. Just to make you aware, we have always held live ballroom auctions in the past. We felt our new platform to be the most appropriate option in the current circumstances, and as you can appreciate, we will be making some improvements to help all accessing the bid now button on our lot page in order to Log in and Register to bid. Our guide prices are set with a clear indication of being within a 10% range of the reserve price. The sale price is determined by the highest bidder once the reserve is met. The bid window is an important part of the online auction process and I can confirm we cater for phone, proxy and online bidding on our auction day. GoogleA relative of mine sold their property through the McHugh auction. Having tried two local agents and the buyers pulling out prior to exchange of contracts taking place, we were recommended to try an auction and our solicitor recommended McHugh & Co. Wish we knew about auctions from the start, they managed to sell the property for a higher price than the previous agreed sales all in the short space of 4 weeks of receiving the keys. We were very happy with the service we received and would happily recommend.

GoogleScammy.. Hiding very high extra cost that you'll never know about somewhere on the middle of the 25th page of the 7th document attached to the 5th compartment of the "Special sale condition". I'll try to get the Ombudsman help on this. Avoid if you want to save your nerves and especially money.
We mention on every single lot page that there may be extra fees payable on completion and where to find them. This is also mentioned in our buyers guide which each bidder receives a copy of when registering for the auction. These fees are not associated to ourselves the auctioneers. Thanks, McHugh & Co.

YellThe worst agents ever
Saw 2 flats and decided to bid for them. I realised on the day something wasn’t right as the prices went really high, felt it was like it was being done internally but still decided to go ahead. Both flats went for 30k each. On their portal it says solicitor fees would be either 2.5% or SEVEN AND HALF THOUSAND POUNDS. Stupidly the 7.5k are not written numerically so it can be missed, for me it was the case. I have wasted 90k on 2 flats which are worthless. When you make a bid, you are not bidding against a person who has the same desire to buy like you to buy but bidding against a Mchugh employee who are increasing the price. I made many mistakes, all the negative comments I have seen online have happened to me. don’t make the same mistakes as me.

McHugh has no integrity - Exceptionally misleading listing for a garden in enfield - no mention of the multiple planning turn downs or the private water main and sewage with the delightful mockup of 3 houses - latest planning turn down was just less than a month before listing the garden at an astonishing price - sadly the rose-tinted listing has resulted in many strange people visiting a private road and breaking into the gardens - no integrity at all and very misleading

Dear Leah, The bidding extension window is an important part of the online bidding process. It allows bidders time to bid again if they wish to do so. This information is clearly detailed in our online buyers guide which is on multiple pages of our website. When registering for the auction, customers will receive a copy of this. GoogleVery shady. I rang today to ask very straightforward questions about a property and was told in a very condescending way that they only sell properties and don’t know anything about them (?). Did my own research and found that such property had been sold a couple months prior and assume was being put at auction to get some extra money. Again, when questioning this, I was advised by an arrogant guy that he didn’t know and wasn’t his business to know (isn’t this literally his job?). They are either clueless and incompetent, or fraudulent. Either, keep clear.
