I have had consistent help and good…

I have had consistent help and good advice from all those at the Wandsworth office. Shoeni is standout in her knowledge and attitude. Communication has been excellent over the many years I have used them as my letting agent.

Waste of time. Never responded to my email enquiries or my telephone enquiries. Would not waste my time.

Dishonourable

After we had our offer accepted Sally Behan in Weybridge called to tell us we had been gazumped. We increased our offer above asking price but were told they wouldn’t sell to us. Turns out when the seller found out our name they decided not to sell to us for ‘personal reasons’When pushed about ‘personal reasons’ she then said that there was actually a cash buyer who offered asking price. That property remained on the market for 5 weeks after that before it said under offer. Friends of mine were able to call and make viewings during this time. Disappointing that a company owned by Skipton Building Society would behave like this. The honourable thing to do would be stop acting for the seller but the commission was clearly more important.

Agent not trustworthy

I was told John D Wood (Primrose Hill) were a well respected local agency with whom I could sell my property, and they seem, on the surface, very professional. But I grew to dread calls from my allocated agent - a smooth talking, cocky young man - he seemed to constantly be on the side of the buyer, not mine. He told a couple of utter lies about offers coming in, he had a total lack of attention to detail, and eventually I ended up moving to a different agency where I had a much more pleasant experience. They may be on prime Primrose Hill high street, and have lovely properties for sale, but do not let that fool you! I just did not trust them. Go elsewhere.

Not valued as a buyer

We had a really stressful time as a buyer with JDW Esher. Details of the conditions of our offer we’re not passed onto vendor at all; when confronted with this when the transaction was at risk, it was glossed over / denied. We were also told a delayed completion was ‘impossible’. We ended up dealing direct with vendor, with a delayed completion, without issue. Got the feeling JDW were happy for us to lose out and simply switch to another buyer.

Terrible experience with the manager at John D Wood Southfields

Terrible experience with the manager at the Southfields branch. To call him arrogant would be an understatement!I have now sold and bought property through this branch. Dealing with the same agent each time. I would rather give my property away than ever use him again. If he asked a question he expected an answer immediately. sometimes calling twice in one day and following up with emails. Bullying tactics and bickering with me over any decision that didn't suit him. He has no idea how to treat customers and suspect he has no one supervising his behavior. He's a disgrace to any company and should work in a back room where he has no contact with customers.

High calibre agents

I'm the landlord of a family-owned flat in Chelsea, and have used JDW for our last two tenancies.Initially, it was clear that Ed had a better knowledge of our neighbourhood than the other agents we tried. Given JDW's reputation, their fees were more reasonable than we expected - yet surprisingly the asking price was higher. It was a no-brainer, and more surprisingly, they managed to secure this higher level of rent, rather than it being a pitch just to win the business. When it came time to find new tenants, they again exceeded our expectations by securing (in the pandemic) 12 months advance rent at nearly the same rate.I wouldn't use JDW for management purposes as they seemed slightly inefficient (perhaps as all agents are?) when they organised our EICR. Aside from this, Ed has always had time on the phone to discuss anything from particularities to the state of the market - and his experience shows. Furthermore, his lettings team are very friendly and on the ball.Highly recommended.

Worst client service ever. They manage the flat I live in and every time you call them is like if you were asking them for a favour. Incredibly slow in responding to problems and many times, the people they send make things worst.

WORST company

WORST company - they try to brand themselves as trustworthy but are cut from the same cloth. I worked for them so can speak in experience but they stole my commission in broad daylight. They are simply conditioned to be a bunch of hypocrites and thieves and will ensure their bottom line is what matters. Strongly advise to stay away from them. Don't believe in their marketing - they are all black wolves in sheep's clothing.

This company are scammers

This company are scammers, they ask for holding deposit then ask for 2yrs of rent upfront and when i told them it wasn’t possible they said they were going to issue a refund and it has been almost 3 weeks now and they haven’t issued it yett

Parsons Green team

The Parsons Green team have been brilliant throughout my whole process of finding and securing a rented property. From the first phone call to them, they have kept in regular contact and always been there to answer any questions quickly and efficiently. I'd like to especially mention Nicole C who has been there to liaise with throughout the whole process and has been approachable, efficient, and extremely helpful. Thanks again to the team

John D Wood in Wandsworth

John D Wood in Wandsworth, and more specifically Shae Preece and James Setright, epitomise the worst traits of estate agents. Dishonest, unprofessional and incompetent. They incited panic in the chain unnecessarily, they downright lied on many occasions, they pestered all sides incessantly which led to numerous complaints, and when it suited them ignored all communication. Despite having no qualifications, they believed they were experts in surveying, conveyancing law and mortgages and unbelievably tried to undermine experts in these fields. They will do their best to ruin any house sale or purchase. Avoid John D Wood at all costs.

Rented a flat for a year and the property management was very poor indeed. Took 8 months to get 2 mouldy blinds replaced that had been noticed on first inspection, we were left without an oven for about 2 months of tenancy so had to eat out. And there were plenty more issues

We are very sorry to hear you have had a negative experience. This is not in any way what we would want for our tenants. Without knowing all the details it is hard to comment further at this point and with property management we can sometimes find our hands are tied as we do need the landlord’s authorisation to do works in a property. If you would like to discuss this further we would be happy welcome hearing from you. Please do contact Will Uelese, Head of Property Management on 020 7908 1306.

Very disappointing overall experience…

Very disappointing overall experience with John D. Wood. Property managers who simply don't care and go AWOL when you email or call with a query or issue you need help with. Took far too long and proably broke the law in terms of the time between us moving out and getting our deposit back. Would not recommend as a result of our experience. If you work there at a senior level then your staff need some management training and your whole organisation needs to up it's game.

We actually checked out a few agencies before we met Katie from John D Wood. She is a total game changer and impressed us on spot! It's our 2nd week in London and we already found a perfect place to stay thanks to her. Very professional, knowledgeable, responsive and efficient!

Will Saunders was a fantastic broker. He listened to my many specific constraints and came up with a short list of flats that met all of my criteria, making the process as smooth and efficient as possible.

Terrible on all counts!

From the moment we were given notice John D Wood failed to give anything like a decent service - emails and calls were rarely responded to. Duplicate requests for information came from a range of staff, often no response to contact - you literally have to bombard them with emails / calls to get any communication and return of deposit after months of leaving the property and a significant period (nearly a month, not the 10 days legally required I believe?) since the landlord confirmed an agreed amount. One staff member I think had good intentions and was helpful on speaking to her but the process will wear you down. I think the corporate / company ethic and values must be rotten as they simply do not provide any tiny hint of service that you might expect from a professional outfit. On checking other review sites and this one, I realise we are not alone in our experience. I'm not sure if they read these reviews, but clearly systemic change needs to happen soon or word of mouth will surely stop any further business going their way??

Very biased towards the landlord

Very biased towards the landlord. Tenants please avoid if you want your deposit back as they would report issues at checkout that would be there at checkin. Last week I received an end of tenancy report which state issues which were present when my tenancy started. Since I've been taken advantage of many a times by rogue estate agents and I've learned my lesson so I made detailed recordings of the property at the start & end of the tenancy where I cover each and every inch of the property. I just emailed them one of the video and took screenshots from other videos that show that the issues were there beforehand. I did email Amy earlier that these were present at checkin but instead of checking the records she is going ahead to get repair quotes & ask for deductions from my deposit. I will leave as many negative reviews as I can! even register www. avoid-johndwood. com so innocent people can avoid getting ripped off.

Exceptional service from Rupert and Ellie

Rupert Simmonds and Ellie Bowers at John D Wood in Notting Hill Gate are both absolutely exceptional agents. My husband and I have, as landlords, had dealings with many agents in London but Rupert and Ellie are head and shoulders above all agents we have interacted with. Their attention to detail, knowledge and amazing and caring customer service is in a class of its own. They are both a massive credit to John D Woods. Malini Kamerkar
