Poor letting agent. Let a flat which wasn’t the best (we knew that going in) but arrived to find it filthy despite professional cleaning assured. Plus the broken items on viewing (blinds) which we were told would be replaced before arrival were still in the property. They got changed after a month of chasing but they used a dodgy builder who didn’t know how to screw in to concrete, one set fell out in a day. Despite chasing for 11 further months of tenancy they were never fixed. Worst experience was when our water pump broke, without which we had no water pressure at all so unable to have showers, could only wash at work/with hands in downstairs sink. Took 3 weeks for the agent to sort despite us being patient at first it got ridiculous. To top it all off they performed the classic estate agent trick and at the end attempted to take a substantial amount of money off of our deposit, despite us leaving the property in a much better condition then we found it. Wouldn’t recommend.

After several bump starts with two other Estate Agent firms we gave Barnard Marcus a go. I can honestly say they were absolutely brilliant from day one. Our estate agent, Darren Hopcroft, did everything humanly possible to finally get our deal over the line and we were delighted to get our sale done. If he hadn't been on the case every single day chasing buyers and solicitors then I'm convinced it would have fallen through. Thanks again, Darren, fantastic job. Thoroughly recommend.

Lack of respect with tenant

I've been a single tenant since October 2023 and I've raised 2 simple requests to the letting agency since then without any feedback or resolution up to this date. They haven't provided a second set of keys as I asked to have a spare in case I have family visiting or for any emergency. They also haven't provided me the landlord details as I need to apply for visitor parking though the council and I can't do it without the landlord's information. It's absolutely unbelievable no one can help me with this for 4 months and I have no hope they will.

Happy New Home …. NOT!!!

We helped move our son into a house managed by this crew… all smiles when they handed over the keys…. All downhill from there.1) toilet does not flush2) no heating3) disgusting mattress in one room 4) no hot water5) non- functioning shower but there is no hot water anyway.6) massive hole in wall behind washing machine So if you are a tenant be ware!!! And if you are a landlord…. Watch them like a hawk… your brand is being damaged.Get a grip people!!!

South Croydon Branch - Committing Fraud and Illegal Advice

Paul O-T who works here asked for my private payment details to take holing deposit and my card was fraudulently used shortly after. I had a new card sent out and my first use of the card was with Barnard Marcus again, this time the manager Jordan D-G, who took my card out of my sight to take deposit payment and shortly after again my card was used for the same company fraudulent transaction. Stay clear or at least do not let them see or hear your payment information. So many more issues with these Agents too, don’t reply to messages, offer the landlord illegal advice etc. Police report has been raised for fraud and the bank are working with the police on it and also they forced us to move in quickly to a flat that had so many outstanding repairs was a hazard and because of their incorrect advise to the landlord we are taking her to court for breach of the contract. Cannot stress to avoid enough! Telling everyone about it and they’re appalled! Not worth the risk to ever work with Barnard Marcus, esp South Croydon branch again!!

The agency, particularly Ealing branch is a joke. Daniel promising viewing text confirmation with no even taking your number...of course text or call didn’t follow. In the meantime they posted a new ad of the same property with increased price.Just like the rest of the letting agencies taking owners seriously, and us renters who cares. Very disrespectful and unprofessional.

Appalling Experience at Barnard Marcus Streatham BranchI am compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience with Barnard Marcus Streatham by leaving this 1-star review. The events that unfolded during my tenancy with this agency have been appalling, prompting me to caution potential clients.During a recent vacation, my rented flat became the target of a burglary orchestrated during house viewings organised by Barnard Marcus Streatham. The lack of communication regarding these viewings, coupled with the unprofessional conduct of their staff, has been profoundly distressing.The senior manager, Bernardo Reggi, completely disregards tenant rights and safety. Despite explicit requests for communication via email due to work commitments, persistent phone calls disrupted our lives. Additionally, the failure to report the burglary during a viewing and the subsequent conflicting statements provided to the police only added to the chaos.My attempt to address these issues during a visit to their office was met with aggression and unprofessional behaviour from Mr. Reggi. Instead of empathy and resolution, I experienced hostility.In light of these incidents, I implore potential clients to be cautious when considering Barnard Marcus Streatham for their property needs. The lack of security measures during viewings, miscommunication and unprofessional conduct of their staff are serious red flags.Moreover, after the property was burgled, they refused to provide the landlord’s contact details, as Bernardo Reggi (Senior Manager) claimed that the landlord "doesn’t have time for people like us" since he owns multiple properties around the area and doesn’t want to waste his time on us.I sincerely hope that this review serves as a warning and encourages the agency to take immediate action to rectify their shortcomings and ensure their clients' safety, security, and well-being. Finally, I want to warn everyone that the 5-star reviews you see here are from the estate agents who keep begging the people to leave reviews after they signed the papers, as they asked me around 5 times when I signed with them. Therefore, it doesn’t truly reflect their professionalism at all.

Again, Thornton Heath branch are lazy, obnoxious, unknowledgeable, can't even be bothered to obtain information on the flats/properties they are selling but are very fast and aggressive to secure an instruction-after that they will work for the buyer in getting the worst price then force the seller into taking it.
