Use this estate agent Barnard Marcus Seldon branch at your peril for renting. They took my deposit of £260 and refused to give it back stating I lied about my salary on my application form.. When I asked for proof of this as it was not true they refused to show me my application form which would prove I did not give them false information. I took them to the County Court and they were issued with a CCJ. Only then did they return my deposit. This cost £35 to do and I got this back as costs. They had to pay me as they knew they had no proof. Please be aware.

I used their auction division and bought a plot of land through their auction recently. It turns out the land has other owners who believe they should own the land so having paid all the cash and I now in a massive legal dispute over if I have bought the land or not. They emailed me the day after the auction telling me that the completion date, as was the seller's right to do so, had been brought forward to 2 days from then, giving me no time to get a solicitor/conveyancer and their auction rep company, who badgered me with threats and sent someone around to my house and posted a notice in my window all taped to the glass, told me they always check that everything is fine with property and/or land they auction, so it would be a waste of time for me to get a solicitor. Then letters started arriving from other solicitors telling me of the claim to the land I had bought and I have emailed Barnard Marcus many times and no-one will respond to me. Absolute disgrace. Don't buy from their auctions !!

I have been marketing a flat for rent with Barnard Marcus Earls Court. The early stages of the marketing were unimpressive given how busy the market is, but when I threatened to move to another agency, they upped their game and tenants were found. In preparation for this we made sure it was cleaned from top to bottom and we exited the flat having closed all internal doors, switched off all lights and double locked. 24 hours later I needed to place an information booklet into the property in advance of the arrival of the tenants, only to find that the front door was no longer double locked, the property had been used for some sort of 'entertaining' - the furniture had been sat on, there were champagne glasses in the sink, the bathroom had been used, the doors to every room were open and the TV had been watched as the remote control was not in the holder where I had left it. The only possible conclusion was that someone from Barnard Marcus, knowing the flat was empty and being in possession of a set of keys took it upon themselves to trespass into a now rental agreed property which was off market and make use of it in the few days between completion and move-in. They are strenuously denying it and trying to place the blame on us, or the previous tenants... but its absolutely clear that someone from that branch has behaved appallingly - and indeed illegally. The service throughout has not been particularly stellar but their response to this situation has been total denial and trying to place blame elsewhere.

Barnard Marcus - WallingtonI had a viewing in Coulsdon with Barnard Marcus and subsequently put a price in with an offer. Days had passed since the viewing and I found myself chasing the estate agent for updates.I was promised call backs I was never to receive, I then looked online again at the listing to see it had been marked as "let agreed" on rightmove. I find it highly unprofessional that this would be publicly updated online for all to see without firstly giving a courtesy call to the other offeror's to advise it has been agreed elsewhere.I have since asked the company to remove me from their systems and I shan't be using their services again.

GoogleCompany have left us without water for what has 5 days. Now the offices are closed for the weekend and no emergency numbers. They delay dealing with issues until you get bored of pestering them, or the problem goes away. It feels like they only seem to want to do anything is on Friday afternoons to keep you quiet whilst the office are closed at weekends. We have also been left with broken heating throughout winter, and has taken almost 2 months to replace a broken freezer

The worst agency ever. All they can do is take money from the landlords and then provide zero service. John Fenton - area manager - has not actioned my complaint for three weeks - I want all of the fees I paid refunded.The tenants were not properly referenced (the agency lied they were a family), I could not get access to the property even with notice and therefore couldn’t do sale viewings, the agency didn’t chase rent arrears, it didn’t help me negotiate deductions for damage to my property from the deposit and didn’t do a check-out report.Two months after the tenants have moved out my complaint has not been actioned,I have not got any of the deposit or rent arrears.I told John Fenton and his superiors I have posted a review, as I was very disappointed with the service and even sent them a screenshot. Instead of actioning my complaint Barnard Marcus complained to TrustPilot that my review was fake and tried to have it removed. I then had to provide confidential documents such as rent statements to prove my review was real.Worst service imaginable.Avoid!

Shame on you nicole from north finchley branch. Ive had a horrific experience with marcus barnard agency in north finchley. I went in looking to rent a flat that i liked. I followed absolutely everything submitted my documents and bank statements on time. Only for them to message me and lie about my refrencing telling me it has failed even though there was no reason for it to fail. ( obviously not giving me a proper reason they just said its failed and i asked why? they said we dont know ill have my manager call you which he never did!!!!!!! ) These people are liars and thieves they steal from people and took advantage of me bearing in mind i am disabled i feel discriminated against as i wasnt given an actual reason. These people steal money and lie about refrencing i am very shocked by this whole situation i have lost out on money and valuable time with these people. Im talking about the north finchley branch they are horrible if i can give 1 star i would. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU DONT WANT THEM STEALING FROM YOU.

She went above and beyond to find a property for me and tried to fit my specifications as much as possible.I have never had such an outgoing and positive experience with an estate agent. My experience with Barnard Marcus estate agents was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I was excited to sell my property and move on to the next chapter of my life, but unfortunately, this process ended up being a major source of stress and anxiety.One of the first issues that arose was the fact that the agency encouraged me to overprice my property. At the time, I trusted their expertise and experience, but in hindsight, I now realize that this was a major mistake. As a result of this overpricing, the level of footfall and interest in my property was much lower than it should have been, leading to a protracted and frustrating sales process.In addition, the level of communication from the agency was simply not up to par. I found that I had to constantly chase them for updates and feedback, and every time I called, I was told that the person dealing with my sale was either on a day off or sick. This made me feel like they were not taking my sale seriously and led to me feeling very frustrated and anxious. It was simply not a good experience.To make matters worse, they offered me a lower rate selling fee as an employee referral, but it turned out to be a higher rate than other estate agents. I felt misled and taken advantage of. The agency was simply not transparent with their fees and charged me more than what they should have.The worst part of my experience with Bernard Marcus, however, was when I realized that they were failing as estate agents, but would not let me out of my contract or move to a dual estate agent without significant penalties. I felt like I was trapped and had no other option but to stick with them, which meant that I lost the house I had an offer accepted on. The moment I changed estate agents at the end of our term of contract, the other estate agents got a buyer the very next day.In conclusion, I would not recommend Barnard Marcus estate agents to anyone. Their practices were unethical and unprofessional, causing me a great deal of stress and leading to a negative outcome. I regret trusting them with the sale of my property and hope that others can learn from my experience.

Please, do avoid. If I was able to give less than one star, I would do it without batting an eye. Not helpful at all, liars and not responsive at all. Since the very start it all went down the hill. Firstly, the property was not prepared beforehand ( we had to clean the property ourselves, prepare the garden and front garden), we have been told that they will get rid of old sofa, it took them more than two weeks to do so and when they have done it, sofa was left outside our property. We had council coming to us because neighbours have conplained, what a distaster ! Now, when we have an issue with draining system outside ( smells horrible and our neighbours complained once again) the agance is telling us that they do not manage the property ?, even tho in the contract it clearly states that if there are any issues, we have to contact them ?? No one even fixed the gas meter ? We had to contact the emergency gas service and they told us that whoever was checking gas, they broke it, leaving it as it is ? When we did the viewing we've been told that the smell is normal and it was coming somewhere from the street !!! Horrible !!!
