All of these stars are for David. I’ve enjoyed selling my flat with him, he’s hard working and professional. He always had time to keep me in the loop and would always pick up the phone. Bairstow found me a great buyer but persuaded her to go with their choice of conveyancer, Muve. I since found out that she felt pushed into using them and it’s not what I wanted for the person buying my flat. Muve did get it pushed through fairly quickly but not without stress for my buyer and ourselves. I’d recommended avoiding Muve if you’re buying or selling with Bairstow or anyone else.

The worst estate agents I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, and that is a low bar. All the positive reviews here are from people selling property and I'm sure if you're making them money they are interested in you because they have dollar signs where their eyes should be, but if you are a tenant - or a decent landlord invested in the well-being of your tenants - I cannot stress enough, do not touch them with a bargepole. From the moment I moved in, they treated me with no respect - the property was so dirty I couldn't unpack and I had to ring them every single day, every morning at 10am, for two weeks, before they would send someone out to clean the mess left by the previous tenants. In the four years I lived in this property they left me with rats for SIX months (which got in from the flat below because of holes in the skirting they couldn't be bothered to fill in), no heating for 3 months January to March, no oven for two months during lockdown, a faulty tap that gushed water for a month day and night, no hot water tap during the pandemic... I will never get back the hundreds of hours of mental energy I invested in chasing repairs over and over and over again, and the stress it caused me. I was always met with a total lack of care and basic respect, if they bothered to reply at all. They also have a very high turnover of property managers so I would spend weeks trying to resolve something with one person only to have them quit and have to start again from scratch with someone new and equally clueless, rude and obstructive. The only time I got any kind of human response was when I called head office in tears trying to get someone to deal with the rat problem after I had been told the property was unsafe for occupation and they still couldn't be bothered to send pest control out. Funny how a call to head office got someone sent the next day even though they had claimed they were "waiting for a reply from the landlord". Because she lived in New Zealand apparently, that meant she would take four to six weeks to reply to anything. Perhaps her replies were being sent by steam boat - it is the only explanation. I never got so much as an apology for being left living in a rat-infested flat for all those months, much less a rent reduction or any kind of compensation and indeed when I moved out, they made me drop the keys back to Bow, an hour each way from the property, instead of leaving them in the flat, because they had “lost their spare set.” Minus one million out of 5 stars.
