No call back or follow up after message left

Rung up about a property for sale last week at the Derby branch. They only have one sales person in the office who was out to lunch at 2pm. Was told by the lettings person that she would ring me back as soon as she returned. This never happened. Suffice to say that if that is how they deal with customers from the offset, then things can only go downhill from there. Wont be buying or selling with them in the future.

Truly awful. Have used many estate agents over the years and these are genuinley the worst I hvae ever encountered. So many issues with the property we rented and nothing sorted after a year. When vacating the property we have had a deduction of our deposit for things that were like that when we moved in i.e. an iron burn mark on the carpet. Not once in a year did they come and inspect the property or offer any assistance with our issues and after a year of waiting and chasing them we thought f**k it we're moving. Avoid this compnay like the plague!!!

Have no problem breaking the contract…

Have no problem breaking the contract to try steal your deposit because most people won't bother to dispute. Will do anything to keep your deposit. Also useless at sorting contractors and failed to sort a single issue. As soon as it came to rent and deposits they were efficient.A petty, irresponsible and childish company. They forget about you as soon as you leave their field of sight and ignore you as soon as work is involved.

Only interested in making money

Only interested in making money. Scot said to me that they have many properties to look after so they can't keep attending to mine. Had two lots of squatter and I had to attend to nearly all of it. They didn't help to get my work men in for repairs as the tenants didn't speak english and after 2 years I still haven't had some money back which I claimed from their deposits for call outs that they didn't open doors to.It was me that asked them to investigate that there were lots of people living there. Tenants wrecked my property. By-the-way, Barkers also operate under this name. Barkers look after working tenants and NH after students. Scott will just keep fobing you off. I didn't know why I was paying them full management fees.

Professional, competent and friendly staff with a down to earth attitude. Jack and Jack in Lettings were particularly helpful and I would use this agency again in the future without any hesitation!

Had a viewing this morning in a property that had pizza boxes just left on the work tops and mess left pretty much everywhere. The agent wasn't bothered about showing the property just opened the door and said "there's the property" For a property that was new refurbished the gloss work on the door frames was pealing and clipped and when questioned the agent didn't seam bothered about answering any questions or even like he wanted to be there not even giving his name

Barkers is the worst agency that we could ever have! We are the tenant more than a year and they give our flat to sell. Nobody tell us about that! When people from Spencer just walk in our flat with all the keys and they was shocked that there are the tenants. Right now we have unexpected people in uor flat for all the time. They coming with barkers agents without asking, they never let us know about the view, they dont even knocking!!! Just get in! Sometimes they are surprised when we are at home or when my husband sleep after night shift. They open our cupboards, fridge and everything! We are so tired about that we have our staff and things here. They ignore all email, only meeting face to face push them to apologize and give just the promise that noboty should do that and it was last time, but it is never last time! The worst agency in whole Leicester! Avoid them!!!

I have had two experiences as a renting customer with Barkers, Queens Road. The first was about average, however, the second was truly abysmal. The apartment rented was misrepresented as a professional let, only to find it was an out-of-control student complex. Inoperative toilet for six days, dirty inside and unacceptably rubbish-strewn outside - any attempts to rectify issues were glacial in speed or non-existent, I broke the lease and still consider taking legal action to recover all the expense amassed. Exceptionally poor on an international scale.

Ouch - it pays to read the small print. Paid £150 deposit on a rental property but had to cancel that evening. Tried to pop in first thing the next morning but they were closed (unannounced) due to 'staff training'. Emailed to explain. No reply. Gave up waiting and called in again today. They told me they would look into the possibility of a refund but just called to say they are keeping the £150. Hey ho. I'm sure they have this specified in the small print but it would have cost them nothing to return what is to me a substantial amount of money. Shame, as I sold my last flat with Barkers and chose them especially when I found myself needing to rent. You live and learn...

I have recently rented a property through Barkers and the service provided throughout the process was excellent. The team were fantastic in finding a range of different, high quality properties that met my needs, were flexible in arranging viewings according to my availability and made the application and referencing process simple and straightforward. They kept me updated throughout the process and always responded to my queries quickly and thoroughly. The service after I moved in has also been great, and the team go out of their way to be as helpful as possible at all times. Highly recommended!

Very experienced and knowledgeable team. I have used Barkers Queens Rd for buying, selling and also mgmt lettings for properties within the Knighton area. They have a very proffesional approach and give a personal service. As a Landlord who is not living in Leicester it is important for me to have a team I can trust, rely on and one that takes iniative and ownership - Annette, Jack and the full team have not dissapointed and always exceed expectations.

I wouldn't even give them the one star rating! They treat people like black bags disposable! There an absolute joke! I cannot wait to finish my contract with this company so I can get out of the dump they promted for me to live in! They all need retraining in how to do the job properly! It's all about the money not the customers! I can't express enough how I urge people not to rent from these people disgrace!

I strongly STRONGLY advise AGAINST renting a property with Barkers. We have rented our house through Barkers for 5 years, because we loved the house itself so much, but have finally had to move. Barkers have no interest in helping their tenants, or fixing anything that may be wrong with the house if it might cause the landlord any inconvenience. We spent at least 3 years asking for someone to come and look at our heating (since the boiler made a very loud obnoxious noise), rising damp in the kitchen, holes in the bottom of our oven, a front door that does not fit, or lock properly. After years of being either ignored or put off with empty promises by the staff (who would only respond when we walked in and asked them face to face) we are finally leaving and it can't come too soon. What a shame. Do yourself a favour and stay away!

Everyone’s experience is different but for me, I found barkers easy to use, quick to communicate and very fair. Fiona dealt with my house sale and I felt she did the best she possibly could under difficult circumstances.

The company will do anything to help…

The company will do anything to help take your money but once taken they have no duty of care and will allow landlords to take all of your money and provide no help. This year I’ve had a lack of running water during 35 degree weather and building works throughout the night, a landlord who has threatened me constantly and Nicholas Humphrey do nothing as they don’t manage anything after first signing.
