We have recently purchased our first HTB property through Barnard Marcus in Surbiton. The process in the beginning was a little complex because our mortgage application took longer than expected however both Holly and Kecia (our main contacts at B.Marcus) were superb all the way until the completion period. As it's a new build with HTB, and it's our first time buying property, we must have asked tons of questions through emails and phone calls. They were super attentive to everything we asked for and kept us up-to-date with every step of the process. We worked with the mortgage broker they recommended and also very happy with how the process resulted. Thank you once again, we definitely hope to work again in the future!

Poor communication between departments, landlords and tenants. Felt left in the dark a lot around us leaving the property. Had to chase them on the deposit, they said they had submitted the request but failed to. Finally received the deposit nearly 2 months after leaving. They are great when you are trying to move in but when you leave/ want your deposit back the service becomes disappointing.

The most unprofessional and disgusting staff I have met in any real estate agency. Try to scam money out of tenants for stuff that was not included in the inventory. If you move to a different property, with another agency, you basically need to beg them for a reference or so. Took us months. I suggest avoid this agency. HORRIBLE !!!

Very rude and unprofessional staff. This is based on my phone interaction as I called to arrange a viewing with the lettings team over the phone but instead was treated like a 2nd class citizen as I called at a time not convenient for them. After I asked several times what I need to do to be able to arrange the viewing, I was told off that I wasn't listening! to my surprise, and then eventually the person shared with me that I need to call at 9am in the morning. I will be also sharing my feedback with upper management as honestly we are all human and deserve to be treated with the same respect. The call only took 3 mins so I don't think I took too much of the person's time. My time is valuable too but the person who answered didn't seem to care.

Both Ben Albon and Tom Peare worked on a property purchase for me, which completed in Feb 2021. I was a nervous buyer with lots of questions and they always made me feel comfortable to ask absolutely anything and liaised amazingly between the sellers and I. The pandemic brought its own challenges in terms of timelines we were trying to achieve, but they kept things on track and supported with everything. They were also fantastic negotiators. Luke Bustin from the mortgage services team was amazing with getting my mortgage in place and super quick. Nothing was too much trouble and he was always a delight. Barnard Marcus use a really good app to be able to see when each stage of the purchase is complete too. We are completely appalled with the way we have been treated by Tom at Barnard Marcus in Surbiton. A complete lack of knowledge about extending the lease on a property, taking weeks to get back to us with details and seemingly no understanding that a buyer having to find an additional £12,000 upfront to pay for a lease extension would have significant implications in terms of what they are able or willing to offer an a property. And still without all the details, you pressure us into giving two offers based on different scenarios relating to the lease - neither of which we have the confidence in to be true! Do your due diligence please Barnard Marcus and do not speak to your customers with rudeness and arrogance.

Quite literally the worst experience I've had with an estate agent. Pressured us into making an offer, told us we'd lose a property if we didn't do it within the hour. Then pressured us again to give them a holding deposit within the hour or they’d just give it to someone else. After that they advised we'd secured the property and we were safe to cancel our other viewings - which should’ve been the only upside - but they then still took other offers, despite having already gone to sealed bids beforehand and telling us it was now off the market - kept negotiating until they had a higher offer than ours, and didn't tell us until two days later when we’d lost the house. Ridiculous. We also then didn’t see our holding deposit again for 8 days.NegativeProfessionalism
