GoogleMatthew Harrop is a consummate professional, who has been around the block, knows his patch intimately and runs an efficient operation. A senior estate agent who inspires confidence. In our case Matthew was very ably assisted by Angus Baker Baker whose diligence and energy contributed substantially to a very satisfactory outcome and conclusion of a sale in circumstances that were not always easy. Very happy to recommend their services to anyone looking to sell (as in our case), or buy in their part of London.

GoogleWorking with Lily Burgering was a great experience, she helped me very efficiently with my purchase, which took less than 5 weeks from offer to completion. She was always kind and helpful even in the most stressful situations. She always made me feel like I was in safe hands. I warmheartedly recommend Lily Burgering at JDW for anyone who is looking for a great professional.

TrustpilotQuick and stress-free move
I had a really good experience working with Paris Merico from John D Wood & Co. while looking for a flat in Notting Hill. He was super quick, practical, and always easy to reach, replying straight away to calls and messages and really trying to sort things out fast.
He made the whole process feel simple and stress-free, which was a huge help. In the end, he helped us find a lovely apartment in Notting Hill with great landlords.
Would definitely recommend him if you’re looking for a solid and efficient agent.

TrustpilotThank you to Massy Eslami, Property Manager at Belgrave Square
I would particularly like to commend Massy Eslami, Property Manager at Belgrave Square, who went above and beyond the call of duty in doing all sorts of extra tasks to help me when the tenant vacated my flat. As I live abroad, I very much needed and appreciated her extra commitment and assistance.

GoogleMatthew Harrop of the John D Wood Kensington office provided exemplary service as sole agent for the sale of my home. From pre sale valuation, preparing the brochure to arranging multiple viewings whilst the property was on the market, Matthew and his team of professionals including Andy Harris, Angus Baker and Samiye Mahmoud worked tirelessly to find the right buyers and manage the negotiations on my behalf. I would have no hesitancy in recommending them to anyone who is looking to buy or sell in the Kensington area due to their local expertise, and professionalism.

TrustpilotClaire Carter = everything you'd want in an agent
A huge token of respect and appreciation for Claire Carter, who acted on our behalf through an exceptionally complicated sale. Claire demonstrated deep subject matter expertise throughout and consistently went above and beyond, navigating a whole series of challenges, any one of which could easily have put the deal in jeopardy. She showed real patience, persistence, resilience, and tenacity, and most importantly inspired complete trust, all delivered with a genuine sense of humour when it was most needed.

TrustpilotSharp Decline in Service and Unauthorised Marketing, Disappointed with JD W Wood & Co Lettings
I let 2 properties through J D Wood & Co letting team in Belgravia, London SW1V since 2024. Over time the quality of services and customer care, accounting has plummeted. Rental statements are issued up to 7 days late; random fees are deducted, for example I got charged fees usually applied to overseas landlords although JDW have all my documents proving I am British, live in Britain etc. In addition although I negotiated clear cut service contract with JDW, they still apply randomly irregular fees opted out of. Then in 2024/2025 they restructured and their system went crazy with shifting the responsibility away from the local office I dealt with. I got so frustrated I terminated their agency. On the marketing side their letting team manager offered to visit and discuss potential letting of a property I have in Pimlico. Next thing I discovered that he went ahead and advertised the property to let without my approval. He even used other agents floor plans and pictures in the add! He was confronted after I was told about the advertisement by another local agent. JDW withdrew the advertisement and I have refused to deal with them since.

TrustpilotAVOID AT ALL COSTS
If I could give 0 stars I would.I've rented 10 years in London and I have honestly NEVER been treated so awfully or experienced such unprofessional conduct. I truly wish I'd read all these reviews before I accepted a property through them because how these people are even in business is beyond me. They are useless, lie on tap and speak down to you at every opportunity. The onboarding process itself was bad enough - they (Alexandra, Emily and Samantha) were rude throughout, moved my move in date multiple times causing me to lose money and ignored any of my queries when I tried to get clarity on what was going on. But the second they wanted an answer - or for me to pay something - they would harass me relentlessly (including when I was at a funeral, which they were well aware of at the time). The property, which for context was fairly new and modern, was then handed over to me uncleaned (i.e. black surfaces, gunk in the shower, tea stains all over the floor). In itself this was bad enough and a breach of contact on their side, but I then quickly learned the drains were completely blocked too. They left me for months unable to use my own shower as the tray was completely full by the time the water would even get warm, rendering it inaccessible (thankfully I had an alternative via the gym but no compensation or apology was given for months of no access). Throughout this, they would either ignore my emails or respond with stupid comments like 'oh I think we just need a new shower head' (?) every time I tried to chase.I eventually had a (dodgy) plumber sent round who clearly made the problem worse as despite fixing the initial 'block', the shower began leaking shortly after. A different (and this time decent) plumber managed to fix it but told them they would need to carry out follow on work as it was soaking underneath the floors and they would need taking up to dry out properly. Of course they ignored this and within weeks the flat was COVERED in furry black mould spanning across the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The smell was literally unbearable and they didn't bother actioning anything until I threatened to contact environmental health (not that they ever properly fixed it, just painted over it). I literally spent my own birthday sleeping freezing cold on the floor (so I could be next to the open window) just so that I could breathe outside air. I had to throw out so many of my clothes as they smelt so bad afterwards, and they had the audacity to send some btec handyman over after telling me they were sending specialist mould removal people. This guy literally wandered over to Tesco to buy some own brand mould removal spray and asked to use my cloths (which obviously then had to be binned) to try and clean it. Clearly that failed given the scale of the issue and after smearing it all over the place and ruining my cloths, he then helped himself to my hoover and stupidly tried to hoover up gunky chunks of mould causing more damage to my personal property. There's a thousand other stories I could tell including them refusing to tell me where the meters for the property were so that I could take readings (on move in day they told me their inventory people had taken them and they would be sent to me - this turned out to be a lie), nor would they give me a key to my own letterbox for over THREE months. Turns out the meters were inside a locked cupboard that I needed a code for but despite finally getting access thanks to a neighbour, I still couldn't even set up my own electric bill as I needed the letters inside the postbox to do so. I left as soon as the break clause kicked in because I was making myself ill with the stress of dealing with them. I also knew they were going to act up and try and scam me out of my security deposit when I left. The flat was given back to them in pristine condition, and a thousand times better than it was given to me in, so they had zero authority to try anything but I was one step ahead just in case. I also got in contact with the LL behind their back and let her know everything that was actually going on without her knowledge. Turns out she hated them too.Quite literally the worst company I've ever encountered.(Just want to add that Gina was the only person I encountered who was ever polite but sadly I didn't meet her until the point I was leaving!)

Our flat had been on the market with another leading agency for a while but we’d not received any response. It was amazing to see Tushar work to get the property listed and the J D Wood team turn it around within a week or so to get a tenant in. Super quick and efficient. TrustpilotKudos to Kate!
Kudos to Kate!! She's just amazing. As an overseas landlord, it's nearly impossible to know what's going on in my flat. But Kate is super communicative, and goes above and beyond the call of duty. In addition, I had my flat listed with another agency for months with no action. When I added John D Wood to help rent the flat, Kate found someone within a week. She's a real superstar and the company is lucky to have her. After all, what are estate agents but services from people? Without good people like her, they are nothing.

TrustpilotAppalling Property Management in W4 5DD
Appalling Property Management in W4 5DDThe John D Wood team in Richmond and Chiswick has provided nearly zero services in the three months since our move-in. We moved into the property with no professional cleaning done and a third of the lightbulbs missing. There were also many obvious errors in the pre-move-in property check, which we have disputed. Repairs were supposed to be completed in the week between move-out and move-in, but the work was done to a low standard and had to be redone, especially the vinyl flooring in the kitchen, which had to be completely redone once we moved in. Additionally, after we moved in, we had to give up our kitchen and hallway as they turned it into a construction site to complete the hallway painting and kitchen reflooring, which should have been done before our move-in.It has also become evident that the property has a growing list of broken or faulty appliances. Specifically, in the kitchen, both the oven and dishwasher were damaged by Optimal Maintenance. It took several weeks to sort this out, and even after another contractor came to inspect the units, they still brought the wrong-sized dishwasher. Furthermore, it's clear that the boiler hasn't been serviced properly in some time. We now have to repressurize it with the fill valve or heat the expansion valve with a hairdryer every time we need hot water or heating. The bathrooms have been a continuous issue. We reported all the problems the week we moved in at the end of August, and as of November 2nd, we've only seen partial rectification of the issues. Some problems we've had to solve ourselves, such as buying new shower hoses, while others are straightforward fixes, like installing a new flush mechanism in the toilet. We are still waiting for them to address the water pump, which needs replacing and has significantly delayed the water flow in some taps with waits up to a minute for flow common.New issues with damp in the flat have arisen, and it goes beyond seasonal changes. We've witnessed full droplets forming in the downstairs bedroom closet. Additionally, two of the radiators are broken, with one being leaky and the other functioning improperly by having runaway function. The personnel we deal with are unhelpful and show contempt for our requests for resolution. Valere Charles, the property manager, has apparently blocked my number and avoids my calls to the office. She does not provide updates as requested; we have to gather information about the schedule and scope of work from the contractors themselves. She only sent an update email on November 1st, after I called the office and was screened again, almost a month after our last correspondence. She does not seek feedback from the contractors and appears to intentionally reduce their scope of work. For instance, we expected the pump to be serviced in the week of November 2nd, but the contractor was only allocated one person for one hour, and as such less than half of the work we expected to be done was conducted. The painting contractors initially estimated a one-day job for the flooring and painting, but it ended up taking three days over two separate occasions, with wall and floor preparation on the first day in the first week, and two days to complete the kitchen flooring and hallway painting. Optimal told us that they would recommend that the bedrooms, living room, and kitchen all required additional painting and repairs for the stairway carpets, which are coming loose. They mentioned they would return, but we haven't received any updates on that, more than a month later. On November 4th, the boiler pressure failed again, and this time, we couldn't rectify it. We made an effort to request an emergency service as per the Landlord and Tenant Act of 1985, which classifies it as an emergency, and should be repaired within 24 hours, with compensation or accommodation claimable by the tenants if not. However, the landlord/managers vetoed our request without any communication, leaving us to endure the cold in the flat. We've also requested rent reductions due to the current state of the flat, but this has been consistently ignored by Laura Purvor, the senior lettings manager, even after she and Valere toured the flat, expressed their apologies, and assured us that all the issues we showed them would be fixed. In all honesty, the time for an amicable resolution has passed. We will be approaching the relevant ombudsman and the council this coming Monday to escalate this issue out of John D Wood's hands, as they have demonstrated that their primary concern is extracting rent from us.

TrustpilotGo ahead if you want to live through a nightmare
This is with regards to Mr David and Ms Ioana from the Docklands branch. Came home to my flat which had a leaking ceiling and that's where the nightmare started. Was not able to get any help from the agent and had to open my windows to air the carpet floor which was soaked. This was in winter, got infection due to mold from the room. Had multiple people enter my flat, take multiple pictures and videos but nothing was done. Wardrobe was destroyed due to the leaks and several of my own clothing. They did not tell the landlord at all so he was in shock when he found out. All in all took 6 months for the whole issue to resolve, and till the end of my tenancy, the wardrobe was not even fully fitted back in so I lived half a year out of a suitcase. Always impossible to get them on email, and always need to make several phone calls before I can finally get hold of them, and then I am told they were JUST about to call me back. They only treat the landlord like a god and renters like trash. Now I am trying to get my deposit back but receive no replies on email. Absolutely no professionalism. They should be ashamed of their own existence.

TrustpilotAVOID THIS DISHONEST AGENCY
Worst real estate agency I've ever dealt with. Almost going to bring them to court.Razvan Boerean was our property manager. We have been trying to get our deposit back for more than a year. Every time we called there was some excuse like "He's out for lunch" or "He's on annual leave soon" followed by "he'll call you back". He didn't call us back and we've had to chase our deposit for months. It's been more than a year since we moved out and still haven't gotten our deposit back yet. Furthermore, our emails are just ignored and not even an explanation for such a delay or the costs of any deductions was given. Our naivete has been taken advantage of because we didn't know that our deposit insurance only lasted for 3 months and now they are very obviously just trying to steal our deposit. I have sent the last email to them with a 14 day deadline for an explanation or my deposit back. In a week if I don't receive anything I will take all the evidence I have and bring them to court.Avoid this unscrupulous company for your own safety.
