I’m not a fan of estate agents in general. Through my experience I’ve found most of them only have their own targets in mind, rather than actually looking out for the customer and their needs. Max was an exception to this. He was genuine and transparent about the property and made me feel like he really did care about what I was looking for. Alongside being a nice bloke too. [Read to the end - worth it!] Unsurprisingly, purchasing my first home was perhaps one of the most stressful things I've ever done. It took 8 months in total, a gazumping, and a formal complaint raised by me to a 3rd party over lies made that incurred costs to me. it seemed like every party involved was untrustworthy and unreliable, except one person, Christopher Barclay. Chris Barclay was my mortgage broker. Finding me the best mortgage was his first objective, which he did superbly; examples include waving fees, sharing well searched options, and explaining each carefully and with great patience (I ask a lot of questions) and flagging to my attention changing interest rates and the implications of various approaching risks. He emailed and called me on his days off until the mortgage was approved showing full committment to helping me. But this wasn't what impressed me most about Chris. Chris continued to support me well after my mortgage was approved. He checked in routinely to inquire how the searches were progressing and where I was in the process. Knowing I was quite anxious about it, I found his approach inviting, and kind, encouraging me to be open about my concerns and being quick to make time to jump on a call and offer his advice around an issue with a third party that I was experiencing (even on his day off); which made all the difference in how I handled it. His advice meant I saved money and was better equipped to assert myself, and was ultimately successful in overcoming. I thought this was above and beyond what I'd expect and was appreciative of his dedication to assisting me, as an inexperienced customer, but this also was not what impressed me most about Chris. What impressed me most was right at the end of the journey in an effort to exchange there was a critical part needing urgent attention. I had an exchange date approaching 10 days away, with all arrangements made for it that would mean I would be homeless if it didn't occur on time. A critical oversight had occurred from a solicitor that meant we had an urgent need to change the terms of the mortgage. Late that night (around 10:30pm) when I heard of the issue, I told Chris what happened, and asked if he could somehow make the change happen to the mortgage doc within 24 hrs, and if he could, he'd be my hero, saving me from being homeless. He immediately responded saying not to worry, he'd call the bank first thing in the morning on his day off and sort it out. I was sure there would be no way the mortgage would be changed in time as I was warned by Chris that any change would take 4 days to execute with the bank. But, he called me the next afternoon and told me the news that he was successful! I asked him how he did it, and he said, "I just wouldn't get off the phone until the agreed." WoW! There was yet another error to sort with that new mortgage but Chris stuck with it and with no time to spare, the exchange was done. What a journey it was. I could not imagine going through it without a professional like Chris fully owning the E2E customer experience the way that he did. It was not only good business to behave as he did, but was just good on a human-kindness level. I felt like I had one person truly on my side, watching my back throughout maintaining a high degree of professionalism but authenticity throughout. Chris truly cares. I could not recommend a better broker. Early on I asked Chris why he was was going above and beyond to help as he was, and he said, "because I'm helping you buy your home, not just a property." Thank you Chris for everything you did in helping make my dream of owning a home a reality. You are truly the hero of this tale. - Jacklynn

Had an unfortunate opportunity to deal with manager Daniel (279 Old Brompton Rd) who was extremely rude and unprofessional. Screaming and threatening me on the phone that if I don’t pay 6 months rent in advance I will loose my deposit. This person hasn’t even checked my income to claim unaffordabilty when I earn well more than 30 times the rent I made an offer for. Just horrible and unfair. Such unprofessional person shouldn’t work with customers. Extremely psychotic behaviour, luck of basic manners and common sense.
