It appears that the owner of the property has been somewhat lenient with the truth regarding the availability of the property with us hence when we secured your appointment we had no knowledge of a sale with another agent. We most certainly would not have wasted our or your time if we had been advised. Even when discussing your viewing with the owner they never confirmed that a sale had been secured. A very frustrating matter indeed, and of course fully understand your frustrations, but hopefully this helps you understand the matter.

GoogleWe recently purchased a house through Boydens, Kelvedon. We viewed a few houses with Boydens and Amy showed us all of them. She was very friendly and did not put any pressure on us whatsoever, making the whole experience relaxed and it allowed us to give honest feedback. We found the whole process of buying the property stress-free with regular updates from Amy and Sophie who were both very helpful throughout. The 'Sold' sign overstayed its welcome somewhat having been on the property for about a month after our completion but this does not take away from the level of service we received - the team were prompt with great communication and customer service, thank you! Hopefully we have found our forever home but should we ever decide to move again, Boydens will definitely be on the cards!

GoogleIt's been half a year since I was in a rental in Kelvedon with this agency and I can now safely say it was the worst experience of my life. So much too it, but to cut a long story short, we had to live with a housing disrepair issue with water flooding into the walls for 4 years, to be shrugged off as condensation. This caused horrible mould growth in both the bathroom and bedroom, causing respiratory issues for us and especially concerns for our newly born baby. Was told we 'didn't actually have to live there' and could always move, but financially could not do so at the time. It took for a massive hole to come through the walls at the back end of my tenancy for an Environmental Health officer to visit and Boydons to both finally confirm that this was totally unacceptable and was a health risk. I had to front about half the payment of the cost of a 10L dehumidifier over the next couple months to dry out the walls. We also had a breach of contract twice with them allowing someone into the property, without prior consent. This for the 2nd time left my pregnant partner stuck outside in the cold, with a locksmith having to come and change the locks due to the person that allowed themselves in deadlocking the door. I was away with work with the only deadlock key. The locksmith could not believe this, to the point he would not charge us and would instead directly go to recover the cost from the angency. We ended up being put in a high band on the council list due to the severity of the conditions and concerns and thankfully got relocated very quickly. Since then the property has been just painted over no doubt and then relisted for rent for nearly £200 per month more than what we started on. Crazy! I would advise any families to avoid at all costs, as I wouldn't want you to experience and have to put up with what we did.
The staff and managers come up with any excuse and make it out to be your fault constantly, never actually owning up to being at fault for things. The only care you see from them is how carefully they write responses to try turn things back onto you, like no doubt the response to this review.

Thank you for your review, however the matters that you have raised are not factually correct. The property was never deemed to be uninhabitable by the local authority. Works were delayed due to your frequent cancelling of appointments and being very restrictive with the timings that you permitted access.
The level of rent charged was purposefully kept way below that of market value as a gesture by the landlord whilst she tried to address some of the issues within the property, however, may we add, none of which were of the severity you have suggested.
You made a complaint to us about the manner in which you felt you had been treated and this complaint was dealt with via our internal complaints procedure where were evidenced that there had been no breach of the tenancy on behalf of the landlord, which you accepted by making no further complaint or appeal. It is therefore somewhat strange why so many months later you have decided now to raise the matter that has already been addressed and accepted again.
