Berefords a truly shameless company.Beresfords is not what they portray to be. (sweet at first, then the true colours are seen later)I've lived as a tenant on one of their properties for years, always keeping the place in the condition I received it in.However, they are EXTREMELY landlord-focused, to the point - "let's care a damn about our tenants, although they are the ones paying".In the peak of December winter, our gas heater (for heating and for hot water) stopped working.,It took weeks to get an engineer from British Gas, but when they checked it out, they mentioned the landlord needs to service it, as its really old and does not function. Beresfords did nothing, we were left to use ice-cold water for several weeks.The property was poorly maintained (even our neighbours attest to this fact)On finally deciding to leave, (forced to leave) the landlord claimed our whole deposit - although we had the place cleaned up and the necessary fixes done (professionally at our expense (approx. £500+)Yet the landlord quoted bogus charges and tried to take all the deposit money - to which Beresfords was in full support off. (on challenging this, they agree to settle to close to nothing, as they knew they were trying their luck and wouldn't be able to justify this.IS THIS PARTIALITY WHAT ONE SHOULD EXPECT FROM AN AGENCY?I asked Melissa the lady we dealt with for a complaints contact, to which she hasn't yet replied. So much for customer service.Also like to point out a lady Lauren, her emails are so rude and condescending, I genuinely feel some of the staff need sensitivity training. (they talk to you like are an uneducated 10-year-old, who should obey whatever they say, to appease the landlord, even at unreasonable clauses.)The overall arrogance of the branch is appalling, I never want to be a customer of Beresfords ever again and will advise people to be extremely vigilant in dealing with them.They claim to be the best, so I'm not sure if the other reviews are even legitimate, but my experience speaks for itself and this is only to safeguard their next possible victim. PLEASE SEE THE COMMENTS OF THE MANAGING DIRECTOR. This further proves how they treat tenants.I have proof that we went above and beyond to replace every damage even though they clearly over stated it. Beresfords / landord tried to cheat us and qouted us over a £1000 pounds, when we said we will take it to court, as we have evidence and bills etc... they settled for £300 (this being after we professionally cleaned the house and replaced carpets!)When they realised they would lose they chose to comprise and save face. (still extracting as much money as they could)The managing director saying I'm being grossly unfair is nothing short of a JOKE. (note he took over a month to reply)

Our Lettings Consultant, Eleanor, initially demonstrated great accommodation. When the first apartment didn't meet our needs, she promptly arranged another viewing within hours and patiently addressed all our questions. Unfortunately Beresfords made an oversight in the contract's start date which coincided with a holiday, which luckily we caught in time. As they were closed on the holiday and were not available to hand over our keys, we had to advance our move in by a day despite our prior nonrefundable payment for the Airbnb we were staying in. Although inconvenient, we accepted this graciously. However, when we requested a slight adjustment to accommodate a furniture delivery by advancing the start date by another day, it was denied, revealing a notable inflexibility in their approach.

Hi Achini,Thank you for your updated review. Firstly, I am sorry that the original date set for you to move in was in fact a Bank Holiday, but it's great that you were able to be flexible in moving the date forward very slightly. I am sorry that you were then unable to move the date again to accommodate a furniture delivery, but ultimately we have to take instructions from our landlords and do not, as agents, have any legal right to move dates ourselves. Please rest assured that we will always try to be as flexible as we can to assist both landlords and tenants, but in certain cases such as this we were ultimately not in control of such decisions.Steven BondManaging Director - Residential Lettings

Having dealt with another very amateur, unprofessional estate agent in the area (Bairstow) which caused no end of stress, frustration and always had to chase due to their complete ineptitude, I can categorically confirm that Beresfords are consummate professionals: reliable, in regular communication to keep you abreast of developments, friendly and they go above and beyond for you.
