Nobody cares
Nobody cares. We bought our house in July 2020 in the height of the pandemic. Morris homes' organisation, communication & customer service skills have been woeful since day 1. We've never not had a problem with the team 'looking after us' and have remained bitterly disappointed in Morris since we moved in. It is a shame really as the Plot and site itself is lovely, area is really nice too. Our main problem has been the team in charge of the snagging lists. The long and disappointing story goes as follows: At first we were speaking to an Ann-Marie in the service department, but then eventually her boss Steve Baker. Ann-Marie it seems lacks the skills necessary to do her job properly as she has never called us back after 'being in meetings' and has not been able to organise even the simplest of tasks. i.e booking a plumber. Our problems first started when our downstairs toilet began growing mould in one corner. We reported this very early on, but again, no organisation skills to book in a repair left us, a family of 3 with a small infant, with growing mould in our house. By the time we got someone to come and 'look' at the problem, it had grown to the utility room wall, above the sink. They then reported back and eventually someone was booked to sort it out. By this point I was very angry about being left in a house with a mould problem so I asked for some compensation. Ann-Marie said she would ask the question. No response, but no surprise. I then spoke to Steve Baker to sort something out and explained we wanted a plumber and kitchen fitter to remove our utility room sink so we could fit a tumble dryer in. He agreed to book them for us in November 2020. He agreed the work and the people to come and sort it. Then lockdown 2.0 happened, nobody's fault of course. Fast forward to February 2021 we were told a kitchen fitter and plumber had been booked. They arrived but immediately said the work takes longer than the time they were booked for and so therefore wouldn't start it as it would leave us a hole in the wall. Frustrated that our time had been wasted, I went back to Steve who said that he would rebook again, but to be told that he never would've authorised the work for us, as compensation, if he knew it would take a full days labour charge. (Nice to know we were only valued as a half day compensation) He refused to complete the work and i had another battle as he also claimed he knew nothing about the extent of work needed. He claimed we told him we just wanted the sink removing. I pushed back and explained this was never the agreed plan and was extremely unhappy with his assumptions as even before we moved in, we had enquired about the removal of the sink, to which we were told it couldn't happen. Eventually, 3 weeks later, I was told he would do the work and sign it off, but reluctantly. I told him I was disappointed in his and his teams communication and organisation skills, yet again and he tried to apologise that they had been very busy recently. Which I don't doubt, fair enough. The work was then booked again for April. The date came again, and no fitter or plumber turned up. Again. This time we were told because the roads outside on our estate were being laid down so the 'van couldn't get down the street' therefore they turned round, and went home. Not telling Steve until an hour later. My wife though as it happened, returned home easily that same morning, using the roads with no problem? Leading me to believe I am now being lied to? Not happy. The appointment was AGAIN moved to the week after, and I am here today on that date, still having problems as they haven't turned up again. We are currently waiting an excuse as to why the work cannot be completed this time. All along with our issues, I have agreed not to post our problems and concerns publicly and was promised they would all be rectified. I have lost faith, time and patience in trusting Morris homes and am not happy at all with the service we have received. The purchase of our dream home, we would not change. We love the house, area, neighbours and views. Hopefully those views will soon become unsullied when eventually I can look out my window and not see a ridiculously laughable marketing flag from Morris Homes, telling me they have a 5 Star customer service rating. I can assure you, they do not have even 1 star from us. I'm vastly disappointed in our experience and would love to discuss this with a Director of the company. I'd like to be given an opportunity to explain the situation, and a chance to help him improve his company, as I've heard many people say they've had similar problems. Morris Homes - please get in touch, you know who I am.Plot 270

Phil was very helpful today
Phil was very helpful today. He took us round a house we quite liked. Explaining everything we asked. As it turned out it wasn’t quite what we wanted. We wanted something larger. He suggested going back tomorrow to speak to Lizette but to phone first.

As a first time buyer I can say that my experience has been excellent
As a first time buyer I can say that my experience with Morris Homes has been excellent. From the first viewing to moving in to the after sales. I bought an apartment in The Spires and the Sales Advisor was great! We went to view one apartment but were shown other available apartments on the site too. He was patient with all queries, introduced me to a reliable and extremely professional mortgage broker and kept in touch through the process, through to reservation and exchange of contracts. Any query was answered quickly and transparently through the process. Once a completion date was fixed, the home demonstration was done. A Morris Homes information pack, detailing the home buying/moving process and appliance booklets given. On move in day the team were so thoughtful and gave us a gift and a card. After that the 7 day settling in period, the buildings manager sorted out issues - scuffs on the walls because we asked for furniture to be removed in the first bed and fixing the leak under the sink. After this we were moved to the customer service team. A senior member of the organisation did an inspection of the property before we moved in and left a list of things to be completed. The customer service team booked in an appointment well in advance and all has now been fixed. I’ve also had a senior manager call me in my first and fourth week in the property to ask how things have been going. I LOVE the apartment, it came furnished, has high spec appliances and we’re very happy customers. I would recommend Morris Homes based on the service we have received. The attention to detail has been excellent and we’ve only been here for 4 weeks so far but all issues seemed to get resolved quickly and fuss free. And as a first time buyer they have made the process smooth and less stressful than it should be. Thank you Morris Homes and The Spires Team

A wonderful experience
I had a wonderful experience with Morris Homes-this was my first home purchase on my own due to divorce and without Angela in the sales office I don’t think I could have got through it. Her customer service was so kind and personal. She was a support throughout and genuinely cared about the whole process and how to make it smooth for me. My home is beautiful and so well finished. Even the site Manager made sure I had settled in and he and Angela helped me when I had trouble on my moving day. I would recommend 100% Morris Homes-in terms of the company, the customer service and most importantly-because of my beautiful home.

PLOT 49 0AKWOOD VIEW.
PLOT 49 0AKWOOD VIEW.The Covid effect obviously had a detrimental effect on our purchasing and selling experience with many delays and restrictions. That aside we had expected to gain a house from an established builder that reflected quality and customer care.Initially we were not allowed to view the house before exchange of contracts, which did not happen until completion on the same day. We eventually persuaded the agent to allow us minimal access just the week before; too late to make any amendments or corrections or to have the customary demonstration of the house although we did have access to a video. At this short viewing we were disconcerted to find there were no heated towel rails in the bathrooms which we had been assured of. This facility was an extremely specific essential need for us and clarified as provided by the Agent. A conversation which we both remember word for word. At this late stage we could not make any much-needed changes e.g., to electrical/lighting sockets etc. We also found that for a 4-bedroom house the supplied fridge/freezer was too small and non-user friendly. You must remove items and a shelf to enable the salad basket to be used/cleaned. A shelf in a kitchen cupboard was also “missing”.On the day of completion despite the monies having left our conveyancers office at approximately 1.30 pm we were not allowed access into our house until past 5pm so we and the removal company sat outside in much need of toilets, refreshments and shelter - it was freezing. No explanation was given for this and the key suddenly released on the intervention of our conveyancer who was appalled at the delay. On moving in we found the living room radiators did not work and the other radiators did not heat up fully for a several days, the kitchen cupboards were full of builder’s dust, the document folder for the appliances was incomplete and out of date, the front and back doors would not close properly. One of the bedroom’s floor was unfinished. The wood under the carpet was incomplete and we could not use the room until it was repaired. These matters were reported to the agent who said 'Alan' would be dealing with this and would be with us on the next working day which he was. We discovered there were insufficient keys for the windows and garage during this time and could not open the bedroom windows. When the BT engineer came to connect the phone, he found that the line in the living room had been installed incorrectly. This resulted in BT having to re install a line near the front door causing a further problem in respect of broadband connections which we did not have for several days. The visit from Alan was generally helpful but only clarified that the documents in the folder were either out of date or were wrong. We found there was no hole in the utility room cupboard for the washing machine hoses. Initially Alan said they would not do this unless a washing machine had been installed by Morris Homes which we found incredible. Alan eventually did this for us as a favour, but this is surely basic and should be done anyway. At the 7-day courtesy visit we identified 13 areas of concern. In view of the undertakings given by Alan only 3 were listed and signed off. The other 10 items were over a period resolved except for information regarding the intruder alarm (still not received), key for the garage, front and rear door adjustment and we are still waiting for these to be resolved. As our first few weeks have gone by, we discovered more and more evidence that the preoccupation inspection had not been effectively completed. We have reported these things to the Customer Care manager who told us that Alan would visit us in the 'New Year’, and we are still waiting. We have also identified a surface water drainage problem. We had to take remedial action ourselves by removing an area of turf under the dining room window to prevent water entering the house through the air brick. This concern was also reported to the Customer Care Manager in writing whose confusing response did little if anything to help resolve the matter. In general, we do like the property, but we feel that Morris Homes have not lived up to the customer care/quality standard we had expected. We do hope, however, that things will improve with the forthcoming 6-month visit.26 FEBRUARY 2021.

Absolutely love our new home:)
Always wanted a new build, but was always put off because we thought it would be a stressful experience.Fortunately for us it was the complete opposite. Pam was very helpful with all our queries and very efficient. We never got to see our home until the day we moved in. We was pleased to find that it was more spacious than we had anticipated and the garden was a very good size.

I don't in all honesty consider that my house was completed to an acceptable standard before I moved in. The quality of some aspects, most particularly, the paint and woodwork (skirting boards/door frames) were, in my view, poor. The attention I received from the onsite staff, particularly Martin and Chris was very good but in many cases, they were not able to remedy all of the issues I had without basically removing all of the carpets and re-painting huge areas of the house including the stair banisters etc. I realise that I moved in during the height of covid-19 (this was not at my request). However, if I was moving in to the house then in my view, it should have been completely finished to a high standard.

Brilliant Service from Morris Homes
Morris Homes is excellent in what they do. From the first call until the house was sold to us everything was done in a professional way. Fei was great in getting us the price and the lawyer and was excellent in the rest of the process. Martin kept us informed in every stage and was very helpful to us. I would strongly recommend Morris Homes to who everyone looking to buy a house. They have got a brilliant services and a great team to work with.

I took out my mortgage with Morris Homes. The property in question is at St George's Fields, Wootton, Northampton. Special mention goes to Amy. Amy is very professional, a virtuoso in her field, very helpful and courteous. If I had any scepticism about my choice of a first home, Amy cleared such scepticism and convinced me of my choice. Today I couldn't be happier that I chose Morris Homes with the help, skill, expertise and excellence of Amy. I would recommend Morris Homes over and again. What are you waiting for??? Gloss knocked off oh so fast
We moved into our first new home as a family in June. We’d waited a long time get our first home together after previously having our own separate homes. We chose our morris home after much deliberation on plots and designs but eventually settled on our choice and drove forward with the purchase. It was a big blow to have our new home derailed by coronavirus but it made us more and more eager to get our move date. We got to view our finished home the day before we moved in. It was then that the shine was knocked off our new home. The finish inside the house was great, until that was you looked past the initial wow. I informed the sales girl when we handed the keys back in after the viewing that I wasn’t at all happy with the paint finish. We had poor paintwork on top of rough woodwork that hadn’t been sanded down. We had paint runs in gloss that had been allowed to set. We had skin from gloss paint as well as brush hairs dried into the paintwork. There was patchy ceilings too. The ceilings had borderlines in the plaster work. The board joins were visible and there were rough areas on walls with bumpy areas. Our vinyl floor had glued dried into its surface. Our garden path had a trail of paint from house to gate dried into it. The metal strips around the doormat had glue residue and dirt dried into it. The cross bars on our windows were loose because clips had not been fitted. The shower trap was broken and covered up. A tile behind the shower control broken. 3 of 4 bifold doors were scratched. Protective film on upvc was still under seals on bifold doors, as it was with the shower tray and sealant run over it. Kitchen cupboards had carousels we’d paid for missing, doors rubbing when the opened because they weren’t straight. Cupboard doors wobbling because only one screw not 2 was in hinges. A chip in the worktop and multiple scratches in a brand new stainless steel hob. A shed with doors that didn’t meet in the middle letting rain inside and a bush missing from our front hedgerow. We also had no phone or internet for the first 2 months because the house wasn’t registered and phone lines were hidden by the builders. So what had started as a dream move has been a non stop battle so far from June 11th to today to get our problems fixed. The finish of the house is most certainly not what I would have expected from the best part of a quarter of 1 million pounds. Would I recommend Morris to a friend? Yes I would. Because despite the issues we have faced I believe that it’s probably not indicative of Morris as a builder. If it is, then there’s real issues. But I love my new home, our family will love our new home. But we can’t settle in until we get the finish we should have had that day before we moved in and viewed it.

House purchase Morris homes new build
House purchase took place during the first covid out break. Initially reserved house september 2019 and exchange contracts Nov2019. Estimated completion was end of Feb 2020. Completion date was delayed 3 times from the initial date. Eventually completed on the sale end July 2020.From start to finish house purchase took 9 months. There was a few snags on moving in... Wrong floor fitted in the main bathroom. Downstairs toilet sink not connected to the wall and installed incorrect. Kitchen cupboard kick plates installed incorrect. General scuffs on paint work in and outside of the property. Bi fold doors installed incorrectly. No internet or phone lines. I feel there needs to be more quality checking before releasing to the client. The client should not be highlighting obvious mistakes/issues. Sales agent and site supervisor have been great. Although we had the above problems they was all fixed within the first month and they gave us a painter/decorator for a day to touch up anything we wanted doing. I can highly recommend Rob and Lisa on the Waterside Village development, St helens.

Amazing Experience from start to finish
I bought a house through Morris at the beginning of 2020 and my experience was fantastic, the sales team were so helpful and supportive through and kept me up to date throughout the process, i got a fabulous home demonstration before i moved in and my house is perfect! There were a couple of touch ups and small snags I needed after I moved in and the site manager and the team couldnt have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend
