We went with Ocean for advice on buying our first home years ago. One of the main attractions being that the advice was free, which is still the case.Ocean contacted us around 6 months before our current deal ended. The advice we received was comprehensive and delivered in a friendly manner with no pressure to make a quick decision, and even covered our option to go direct to a mortgage provider.Once we made a decision they acted quickly to secure our deal when providers were withdrawing them fast. The whole experience was quite smooth and they kept us informed throughout the whole process.I can't see us going to another company for mortgage advice in the future.

We have used Ocean for over 10 years as mortgage brokers to our buy-to-let business, which is mostly made up of student and professional HMOs. They understand our requirements and the sector that we are in and provide relevant products for us to choose. The team ensure the mortgage goes through smoothly and are always ensure that there we are kept informed and reminded of any admin/documents from our end which could be delaying the process.

I had to put the phone down on the Assistant Manager due to his pressure tactics and disrespectful tone. He was clearly trying to close the sale to help him meet his targets, with no respect for me ir my views, as the property owner.

It took us 10 months to finally complete on our house due to various reasons.Customer service was good when we were dealt with but we had to chase constantly to find out what was going on. Communication could have been a lot better and also by phone which would have made it more of a personal touch.I know email is the easier and quicker but hearing a voice goes a long way. Buying a house is an incredibly stressful process and not knowing the situation at times didn’t help. We finally got there in the end which is great but could have had a better experience throughout the process.

My overall experience was ok but I did feel at times that there was a lack of communication and being kept up to date with the progress of my house sale. I had to chase things several times. I felt like there was not one person who was dealing with it that I could speak to but instead I was passed between colleagues. They worked hard to push the sale through which I appreciated as there were some delays at the end.
