My review only refers to Nikita Harper from Foxtons Letting Support Department, who called me today to help me resolve several issues with my logging in to my Foxtons Account. She was helpful, courteous, and followed up on our conversations. I have nothing good to say about the rest of the Foxtons team, including people at the Head Office, who were not only unhelpful, but kept on transferring my call to other people in the Foxton organisation, who were of course not at their seats, but "please leave a message and I will get back to you". I wasted well over an hour of my time today on the phone trying to get Foxtons support to resolve a problem they have created.

Absolute scam of a company, avoid at all costs

Absolute scam of a company. I’ve never gone to a Foxtons viewing where the property was as advertised - e.g. they say it’s a 5 minute walk from the station and it ends up being a 20 minute walk. They’ll do anything to get you through the door of a property, in the hope that you’ll somehow fall in love with the Godforsaken place once you get there. It’s a bit like how men all say they’re 6’0 on dating apps and then hope that their mediocre personality will win you over when you realise they’re 5’9 in person. Also, if you give your number to one office, be prepared to have endless phone calls for the rest of your life. I once had 10 phone calls in one day from different offices I wasn’t registered with, all asking if I would like to register with them. This morning I’ve had four offices call so far and it’s only 11am. If you don’t pick up the phone, they just immediately call back - very convenient if you’re in a meeting or on another call. This is despite the fact that I have asked them to remove my number from their database. And they all have different numbers so blocking one does nothing, and you don’t know if it could be someone else calling so you inevitably have to pick up just in case. So basically, sign up for Foxtons if you want to be pestered for the rest of your life by absolute crooks!! How fun!!

We had the pleasure of working with Gabby while searching for a flat. Gabby took the time to understand our requirements and needs and was extremely knowledgeable and patient. We went to see a flat with Gabby with no prior information and photos as we trusted her that much to find us a property, and it ended up being everything we could’ve asked for. A bit overdue leaving this review, but last summer was an incredibly competitive time to find a place to rent within a reasonable budget and to the specs that we were hoping for. I was dealing with about five different estate agents and found that there was no help in introducing me to properties, many times I didn't get a call back for requested viewings. Only Foxtons proactively sent me properties that were clearly with consideration to my budget and ideal specs. I really appreciated this tailored approach considering there is always more people looking for places than are available! A special thank you to Narean who found us our lovely flat and was really kind and considerate to our needs and was really patient throughout the whole process of getting contracts signed. He was really lovely!

Absolutely terrible experience as a tenant. Apartment put on the market for sale and I had to suffer through six months of viewings although my contract did not stipulate this. Very inconsiderate and once I gave notice to move out the property was immediately put on the market for a higher rent. Agents come for viewing with no notice and have no respect. Several deductions taken from deposit creating various inane reasons . Avoid at all costs.

I rented with Foxtons Chiswick, so you don’t have to. Throughout the tenancy the agency is keeping low, only coming out when they need to collect sizable sums of money for sticking a new date on your contract. But as soon as you give your notice all hell breaks loose. Expect to be treated as part of the property’s furniture at best. The viewings for new tenants are booked with notices starting from 10 minutes and most of the time the notice is sent via email just stating the fact that they will come with their own keys. If you haven’t seen the email, it’s your problem. They book 1 or even 2 hour slots any time apart, so if you are around (or want to be), you will be waiting for a while, as they sometimes don’t even hit those slots and are late without warning or apology, or sending a cancellation email way after the time slot has passed. On one occasion the agent was so out there, she didn’t even bother checking if anyone is at the property and proceeded to open the door with her own keys not even trying to ring a bell. Don’t forget that all that joyful experience is included in your monthly rent, which in our case was over £2200. So for that money you basically don’t own your place for the notice period (2 months for us) of your tenancy. After 1 month of this mess with sometimes 3 viewings per day we had to move out as it was impossible to be there with constant stream of people coming through whenever they please. Polite requests to give more notice and turn up on time didn’t have any effect and when we finally turned down a viewing request that was given just 2 hours in advance the agency phoned our landlord to whine about the fact that we are not giving them access to the property. And it was probably one of the 3 viewings we ever cancelled (out of 20 maybe). We dealt with at least 6 or 7 different agents and only 2 of them were actually acknowledging the fact that people still live at the place. Others were treating it as an open house. I hope the remaining good agents find a better place to work for themselves not be associated with this bag of snakes.

When I met Adam O’Leary, I was more interested in letting out our flat again because our current sales agents both wanted me to drop the asking price by more than 15% “due to market conditions”. I was told the market might recover within 2 years! So it was just hoping for good tenants. Adam was sure he could help sell it and practically begged me to let him show the flat to some of his buyers. His earnestness convinced me, we listed with Foxtons at the original asking price and before it even appeared online we had our first offers. Within a week we had a cash buyer at asking price and a day or two later a second offer that well exceeded it. Just phenomenal work. While getting and accepting the offer was lightning quick, the conveyancing process was anything but. However, Adam and Ryan were brilliant and professional throughout - very communicative, very patient with my often exasperated tone, explaining very clearly what the hold ups were and what we could do to help move the sale along. When we finally completed we got together for a drink to celebrate. Thanks again Adam! I’ll recommend you to everyone and will be back when I’m looking to buy again.

Non-existent communication. Viewings done by an unprepared team: didn't know level of service charge, exposure, if the appliances were new or not, size of the flat or rooms. One claimed we had replaced the kitchen (we hadn't), another that the Hue Lights we installed were staying in the flat for the buyer (we never said that).

Three words - don’t do it

We listed our house with foxtons and the service has been abysmal. There’s been next to no effort or movement with trying to sell the house, no communications with any options etc. You get an account online which shows upcoming viewings - almost all viewings ‘booked’ haven’t actually happened and they don’t contact us to confirm it either. You expect a lot from an estate agent with their level of commission - dont bother.

Buying or selling a property is rarely an easy process, especially in the current market. However, if you want to ensure that you give yourself the best possible chance, then we highly recommend that you retain Adam O'Leary, and Dominic Best of Foxtons, Chiswick. Adam and Dominic marketed and sold our house, (this year) within three months of acceptance of an offer. Adam and Dominic were utterly professional, refreshingly respectful of both us and the buyer and their objective was always to reach completion. Their professionalism ensured that the objective was never lost but the process was handled with civility and we valued their guidance when we encountered contentious points. Adam and Dominic also had a strong grasp of the local and national property market which at times was fast moving. We always felt valued as clients with our calls returned in good time and their use of WhatsApp to update us or provide information was excellent. Adam and Dominic were also able to guide us as to certain services to ensure we presented our house in the best possible way by introducing us to Ćharles Okwuosa who heads up Foxtons’ concierge service. Again, Charles was extremely impressive, polite, responsive and once he understood our needs, able to recommend all variety of service providers, including decorators and staging professionals. Foxtons also provides a choice of Conveyancing solicitors for you to consider. We chose a solicitor from the firms recommended and this was of enormous benefit as both Foxtons and the solicitors respected and appreciated each other which ensured a united approach in representing our interests, resulting in an efficient and focused legal process. We recommend Adam, Dominic and Charles individually but we also recommend Foxtons for the quality of its staff and its clear desire to provide a full service to its clients which has clearly been thought through and the result of which is excellence.

Everyone knows how hectic the rental market is and I cannot begin to say how smooth finding our dream apartment was - it almost felt too good to be true. We recently sold our flat with Foxtons. Previous to instructing them we had marketed the property with another agent for 6 months with zero offers. With the help of Adam (Branch Manager) we repositioned the property on the market and received a number of offers almost immediately. We had a great experience with Dominic who came to see the property before it being listed and was the one who landed us the offer which we accepted and completed on. Dominic was always at hand to help with queries on both sides all the way through to completion. I was really impressed from the first day how well Adam presented his in-depth knowledge of the market and properties in the area but also how well he listened when he first visited the property. There was no rush in the visit and he and his colleague were quite happy to chat for some time - not always about the house but current affairs, sports, music etc which I thought was excellent. Foxtons recommended a solicitor to help with the process of selling, which ran so smoothly in under the 3 months it took from valuation to completion. Adam and/or his assistant Will would get back very quickly if I ever had a query, sometimes on the phone or text/email when I was at work. I found them professional, friendly, honest and so easy to work with from start to finish. Without a doubt the best experience I’ve had from any Estate Agents in 35 years.
