Flexible but mixed review

Our experience with Barnard Marcus was mixed. Going to the viewings and liaising with the estate agents was fantastic, particularly the Redhill branch, Peter and Gareth. They were super helpful and flexible in supporting us with our first time purchase. However, once we confirmed our offer and got further through the process, we were handed to a senior sales progressor from the New Malden branch who was rude and condescending, trying to pressurise us as first time buyers to expedite her sale. She called us extremely nervous and naive, informing us that we should ignore the results of our home buyers survey as we are holding up exchange, although we only had one simple request to check the boiler. Overall, we would have given 5 stars if we didn’t have these conversations with this individual. We had a good experience and now have the keys to our home.

WORST SERVICE EVER!! We viewed a flat in October 2021 and we expressed to Aaron (salesman) that we want to move into the property ASAP. Aaron confirmed the lease had just been extended so the vendor cannot move on the price. We trusted him so made the offer at a higher value. We spoke to Ragbir (mortgage advisor) who confirmed everything with the property was OK and he will get us the mortgage, which he did and pressurised us to pay him his fee. We constantly chased them for an update on the lease and they kept confirming they're waiting for the paperwork. They did not once reach out to us to provide an update. A week before OUR WEDDING, (bearing in mind they first told us we'll get the keys in January) Ragbir calls us to tell us the lease has not been extended, the bank won't offer us the same £££ or rate and we have to start the whole process again! We went in and the team lied to our faces and said they advised us the lease was in question.....I mean why would we make an offer on a property with a short lease, knowing a bank won't give us a mortgage!!! Clearly Ragbir lied to Natwest to get the mortgage agreed so he can get his commission (which is non refundable). We lost over £2,000 (paid for legal fees for the flat etc), no home, AND the most frustrating part no one from BM has even contacted to us to see if we are OK or found another property!!! THEY ARE LIARS AND DON'T GIVE A S*** ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS ONCE THERE IS A PROBLEM!

Barnard Marcus is an awful company

Barnard Marcus is an awful company, treating customers as they please. They may start ignoring you, not responding to calls and emails, never fulfil their promises and delay the return of your deposit. Lack of their internal communication between Sutton and Leighton Buzzard branches are laughable. One branch tells you one thing, another branch something else. They can't even make an effort by talking to each other. Avoid at all cost.

Our experience with Marina Nguyen has been exceptional. She has guided us through out the mortgage process and has been patiently answering all our questions (though most of them were pretty basic). Tenacious and thorough. Batting hard for clients

We had a pretty torrid time trying to sell our property when the tenants refuse to leave and damaged the house. Bernard Marcus stayed on the case and remained incredibly patient with the sales process and even after a price was agreed Kelly within that office in Ealing tenaciously contacted all constituent parties almost on the daily basis to speed up an otherwise excessively long process. They absolutely earned their fee and I was delighted to have them in our corner during a drawn out sales process which was no fault of ours or Barnard Marcus.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Paid company full management fees - failed to ask tenant to sign new contract, failed to notify us as Landlord. Tenant left early - huge amount of property damage. Barnard Marcus got all the quotes for remedial works and then failed to present to Ombudsman. Consequently we lost deposit and had to bear loss of rental income and all damage. Totally awful unprofessional deceitful company - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

We began the long road/process of selling our house through Barnard Marcos in March 2020. Due to the pandemic/lockdown this became a very stressful and emotional experience for us. As a seller I was hesitant about who to trust with such an important life decision. Previously I have tried an online estate agent and found the experience difficult to say the least, being so impersonal and having no point of contact was a nightmare. I was told I had to move out of my rental in May and felt anxious at the thought of finding something suitable. I had the pleasure of meeting Megan from the Epsom branch. Megan has gone above and beyond to help me. She always kept in touch, she has been reassuring and always approachable and professional. When she went on holiday, she put me in contact with her colleague Courtney as prior to her going away, I saw a property advertised that I really wanted. Rude And Unpleasant

Spoke to Danny in Thornton Heath office to arrange to view a property for sale. He was rude and unpleasant from the get go. It was obvious to me that he has an attitude problem and his manner was rude and abrupt throughout the conversation.He offered an 11am viewing on Saturday and I politely asked him if he could make it a bit later and his response was to hang up on me! How rude! I phoned back and reluctantly accepted 11am but he continued to be rude and unpleasant. My partner attended the viewing(I was held up) and Danny was rude and unpleasant to her as well! Where do they get these people from?!I have had problems with Barnard Marcus,Thornton Heath before. The staff are rude and unpleasant and I would advise you to avoid this agent.

I would to share my recent experience of Letting my apartment through Bernard Marcus Feltham. The whole process from start to finish was Professional & Extremely Efficient . Sam / Letting manager was very friendly, honest with his advise and came across as a very straight forward genuine person who was serious and eager to help me market the property to let. He gave genuine and honest advise . Within no time Bernard Marcus found me a decent professional tenant and is moving in tomorrow . It would be very unfair if I were not to mention and express my most sincere and special thanks to Sophie Kiely - Lettings Executive who was in constant communication all along and kept me posted with any progress and development . Very polite , courteous and again extremely efficient and quick with her work and responses . The Lettings team at the Feltham branch are extremely efficient and honest with their approach towards the landlord . I used Barnard Marcus for the sale of…

I used Barnard Marcus for the sale of my property and the purchase of my new property they were great (specifically Michael Griffin and Jill Parry). I found with a few other estate agents when getting valuations that they can be quite pushy however Michael was the total opposite, he provided me with my valuation and all the information I would need to make an informed decision about selling my home and didn't try to push me into getting on the market before I was ready. My sale was actually not straight forward at all as I was buying a new build which came with a delayed completion date. Michael managed to find me a buyer that was happy to complete when I was ready move which was going to take up to 6 months. (I can't imagine there are many people who buy a home and will be that patient). Once prices had been agreed, the exchange process began which had several bumps in the road (solicitors fault) all of which Michael and Jill stayed on top of to keep things moving. Jill kept me updated as much as humanly possible and if it had not been for her im not sure we would have exchanged on the day that we did. Overall I would absolutely recommend selling or buying with Barnard Marcus, they ticked all the boxes for me and charge reasonable fees based on other quotes I was provided.
