Avoid at any cost. Don't ever bid if you're looking to buy a house.

I was a first time buyer and they trapped me dus to my lack of experience in buying property. Lie after lie. They made me pay seller's solicitor fee of £3500 which was written at the bottome of the special conditions in very small words. Told me the property will be in a vacant possession but it wasn't as this was another trap just to make me bid on the property. And they are so many things I can't be asked to write as I am so annoyed and frustrated with their service.

Communication Issues?

We were frustrated and disappointed in our tenant find dealings this time as we have been customers of Pattinson's for several years and this has been our worst experience. Progress from prospective tenants viewing the property to actually taking up the tenancy was slow, we were constantly chasing the local office for answers. We also received two incorrect communications from the central office saying the tenancy had started when it obviously hadn't. The individual agents involved were all pleasant and helpful but perhaps more communication between them, the central office and us could have made the experience more positive.

Not good service! Things you need to be aware of before you decide to go with Pattinsons. Issues from the start. We were told that someone would return to take better photos for the website. This didn't happen. We were told we would have weekly updates. This didn't happen. We chose the all inclusive package which meant we used solicitors linked to Pattinsons. The company is Core Legal based in Stockton. Be aware the solicitor allocated to us only worked on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. After we sold our house subject to contact we heard nothing from Pattinsons until...the day before completion!! They hadn't put us down for the inclusive package so the final figures were wrong. We had to travel to Stockton on move day to sign the contract again! It gets better..Sue, the branch manager called us at 10.45 on move day. She didn't say congratulations the sale has gone through, please drop the keys in when you can. She said we no longer legally own the house ( so basically get out!) Her attitude was horrendous and when I mentioned we had lost time due to their error in the morning her rely was it's just human error. No apology or understanding at all. 2 stars have been awarded to Hilary who was friendly when helping negotiate the sale price 😁 All in all, very disappointing and would not recommend.

FRAUD-They bid on their properties & increase sale price for commissions.

I was bidding on a property when the time finished and I was suppose to be the winner. I obviously won but they didn’t send me a confirmation email saying I won. Everything was there including the legal pack. They made excuses to not let the property go £10k cheaper.ABSOLUTE SCAM. They Control The Website and have people working from home bidding on the sale price so they get their commission. GREEDY BEGGERS.

house sale - Hexham Branch - worst experience ever

After the sad loss of our mum we contacted Pattinson - Hexham branch to market and sell her house. A very emotional sale as you can imagine. Their service was shocking. We were advised to market her house at a price tens of thousands below its value. The house sold at the price we stipulated. the sale fell through and we only found out about it because a neighbour saw the agents doing a viewing on the house and she told us. The house then sold - with sealed bids, and we were told the best offer was from a person who had no chain, no mortgage and was ready to go and all the relevant checks had been made. 3 months later, nothing had happened and we were constantly chasing for answers. After 5 months we found out that we were in a chain and that our buyer was selling their house through Pattinsons. We were lied to and deceived and it cost us thousands in heating bills and other utilities over the winter. Marc was vague in his communication and the girls in the office either lied or just weren't in the loop. The complaints are endless and too many to go into. We've since contacted their head office with our complaints, but as expected not a single response back from them. Not even an acknowledgement. This was a very sad sale for us and it was made harder by very appalling service. Avoid at all costs. I wish I'd read some of the reviews on here before I appointed their services.

Left their business card and said they would be able to sell it if we didn’t get the figure we wanted from the company. Then went on to value the property £100,000 below 4 other local agents resulting in us having our initial valuation from the company reduced by £70,000.

Integrity is not their Middle Name!

My partner was selling her bungalow through the Morpeth branch. An offer was accepted but unfortunately the buyers turned out to be time wasters very late in the process. Whilst this was not the fault of Pattinson, the issue we have is that they encouraged the buyers to back out by arranging a rental property for them, then arranging viewings of alternative properties on the market. There was more than a hint that they misled them on how quickly our new house would be ready to move into. No doubt thinking of the extra commission, on the false assumption that we would keep the bungalow on the market through them regardless. They drip-fed us information without being clear that the buyers were planning to back out and that they were facilitating other options for them. This meant we had packed and were ready to move house when they finally gave us the truth. We felt quite betrayed.This is the second time I have experienced Pattinson acting with a lack of integrity. A few years ago I rented a property via the Forest Hall branch. They knowingly misled me about how long the property would be available for. The owner was due to return from the Navy in a year. They knew this, (as confirmed later by the owner) but told me it had been bought as a long term investment and would be available for the forseeable future.I will never use Pattinsons again as I don't feel they can be trusted.

After experiencing multiple disappointing experiences with below standard estate agents (estate agents who have been slack, failed to respond, failed to acknowledge a buyers interest, being forgotten about, unresponsive, and generally "not bothered") my experience with Pattison's Houghton branch, (Hilary Dodds - thank you!) has been a breath of fresh air! Finally, an estate agent that actually WANTS to SELL houses. Every time I had a question about, "reasons for selling", "is the price negotiable", "what's the rental potential".. etc. they had an answer - or they took the time to find out and ACTUALLY get back to me (something that most estate agents in my experience, failed to do). The swiftness in communication and the readiness of the team, is truly the standard all estate agents should aspire to. Very professional and prompt. I hope all investment opportunities I find, are listed with Pattison!

Extortion.

There is no financial incentive for them to sell your home for the best price for you. The £6000 fixed commission puts paid to that whether you sell for 1m or £100. I would carefully consider going down this route before anything else. They managed to organise only two viewings in three weeks with their miserly property investors.Furthermore, they have been misleading in details prior to signing binding contracts, even when I pressed them for assurances at the start. Not good.They managed two viewings in one month. Other agents will get that in one week. But the worst thing we found is the lies and trapping you into commitment. It has been a total waste of time, money, and stress. And they STILL prevent me from selling with another agent because of a clause in the contract you sign!Absolutely disgraceful that this business practice goes on.8th Nov Update- They are asking for 1200 pounds even though they did not sell the house in the auction! They want paying for something that didn't sell! The house is effectively shackled, doing nothing, because I can't seem to get out of an association with them. It's ludicrous.... they aren't making money. I'm not selling anything. I don't know when it will end. What's the point!?Another update- When the agreement ends they send you a 'list' - some 200-300 here... of interested named individuals. (bearing in mind only two people came to view the property, so this could just be an email shot to their clients, not that they are actively interested in purchasing). If anyone on this list expresses interest in your home in the future, even under a different agent you may be liable for costs. Unbelievable. They have you under a barrel. It's all wrong.

Jason was a lair and missed the appointment

Jason is the office branch manager in Jarrow area. I made appointment at 11:30 with the staff named Jason. However he said he was too busy to come in time so asked me to view another one with him at 12:30 however when I was there at 12:30 but I did not see him. When I phoned the company and asked why he did not be there and the company told me that he was left because I did not be there? He was definitely a professional lair because I kept the video record to prove I am there. Pattinson is a big estate agent but why allow lair worked for them? I come from Birmingham and it wasted me 7 hours driving. Not trust “ Jason” if you have appointment!!! Be careful if you have appointment with him. He must wants to back home to watch the football Newcastle to Liverpool today. Very bad guy.

Patterson’s jarrow lacks good customer…

Patterson’s jarrow lacks good customer service, are untrustworthy and never deal with a situation- just hand you over to someone else who also has no idea how to cope under pressure. They took a holding fee from myself for a property and with some issues (with a CCJ that was in my partners name… with investaigtion it was not his abs evidence sent to them) we lost the property. We were told if we found out the CCJ information and could provide evidence that it was not my partners then the holding fee would stand. Since then, the house has been given to another tenant and a holding fee was taken off them. There has been the most shocking communication from pattinsons with regards to the property. I’m aware that the landlord has no idea what has been going on as the wife of the landlord has fed this back to the neighbour of the properly who has contacted me to tell me this. Really terrible service from all who were involved- which was at least four colleagues. I will never use these services again and will be telling everyone I know never to use them. Terrible business.
