Anchor are a terrible company to work for and are full of absolute lies and crap, offering wages then refusing to pay them and changing the rate of pay when ever they want to breaching their contract between employer and employee. I would eat my own feet before I work for them again.

I am helping my mother search for a rental flat and came across some properties managed by Anchor. We had to phone in to do the application and then had to call back with additional questions. They will not answer questions via email. They were very helpful, but it would be better if we could check the status and/or get more info online. What I really need to know how long is the waiting list? Years? Months? She needs housing by October of this year!

TrustpilotIn response to Strange Review by Seraphina
My parents have both lived in this scheme since September last year. I wholeheartedly agree with Jim's review. I have POA for my parents so am entitled to my views as I have had constant dealings with the scheme manager. I must say the manager in question has offered assistance constantly without question, is extremely friendly to all and has been massively helpful to us with advice and guidance. We live 200 miles from the scheme so the peace of mind we gain from knowing she is available is immense. My father has been very poorly recently and been admitted to hospital. The manager was on hand immediately to assist my mother and gave us time to travel the distance between us. I would be very concerned if the scheme was that bad as reported by Serephina that I would have no hesitation but to relocate them elsewhere. As it stands I am extremely happy and safe in the knowledge they are supported well by the scheme manager. I have no hesitation in recommending the manager for recognition of a job well done. Above and beyond the call of duty. I have wrote an official email to Anchor customer relations praising the manager but have yet to receive a reply acknowledging this. A Highly recommended place to live. Thank you.Note, I have now received a reply from Anchor customer relations and been assured the area manager here, Donna will be informed and she will pass on our thanks to the manager of the scheme. Thank you

Moved in great. 1 yr. Later found out there was a paedophile living here , who had befriended me and my young grandson. Horrified. When asked them regarding why they were housing such a person. No can do. Deny and are hiding him. Disgraceful.

TrustpilotStrange Review by Seraphina
I've just read the review by Seraphina; why remain in your home for 6 years if it is hell to live there. If your doctor suggests your mental health will be affected for as long as you live there I'm sure I would find alternative accommodation. I've lived at this Anchor scheme for almost 14 years and the current scheme manager is the third manager over that period. The first was great and friendly but sadly not the best at the administration of getting things done. The second was temporary and the least said about that manager the better. The third manager from day one was brilliant at communicating and involving resident participation. If you asked for information or required a repair the request was attended to promptly. This scheme involves the local community, we have longterm garden projects that has resulted in local council awards. Once again we have a credible committee. This current committee was established because the previous committee members involved with the finance failed their task miserably. If I'm correct it was the same person who wrote the review about her living hell that was the committee member responsible for the finances of the members. Finally I would highly recommend this scheme. It's up to the individual when you live in a communal housing scheme whether or not to be involved. The current scheme manager tends to go above and beyond for residents.

TrustpilotModest Rent increase
We are in receipt of the letter containing the revised rent/bill payments from April at Ashiana Lodge. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the very very modest increase (about £4/month). When energy bills for most people seem to be increasing by such a large amount, I don't know how you have managed to minimise our contributions. I hope as a company that this isn't going to disadvantage you in any way. It is a lovely residence: spotlessly clean & a good manager Dianne. who has always been attentive & helpful.Thank you once again.

TrustpilotTerrible Customer Care!
Giving one star for this organisation is too much! They claim to be a great housing association for those older people, caring for their welfare etc. This is absolute rubbish! All this organisation cares about is money, and saving it!I raised a serious and valid complaint with Anchor over 4 weeks ago, which was acknowledged in the two day timescale. I was promised a response within 14 days, and if that was not feasible, they would update me and keep me informed.Despite me sending two emails to chase up a response for a stage one response (after three weeks) I have heard nothing, and I believe the estate manager has also chased for an update, and either heard nothing or not communicated what they have been told back to me!Clearly Anchor’s complaint policy is like a fairy tale, fake like their claims on their website, then you only have to read the other reviews on this website.I was willing to be nice about the issues that I raised with Anchor, but the longer Anchor choose to ignore the issues raised, the more I will dig my heels in and fight for the rights my father is entitled to within the UK law! This housing association have failed in a duty of care, because money is more important, and put the welfare of a long standing tenant at risk, and even when someone complains they can’t even respond. Not to worry, no response now is fine, since I’m taking this complaint to the housing ombudsman when I’ve exhausted Anchor’s complaint policy, if they actually respond!

St Cements Court Clacton On Sea Phase 1 & 2 very poor standard. Couldn't live at either phase. Tenants moaning all the time from both sides of how it has all deteriorated since new management. Both phases are filthy and bits or rubbish still on the floor in the same place a week later! Dirty floors and toilets. Very poor cleaning standard. Tenants said they are moaning about this but nothing getting resolved by Managers. They are not interested. Area Managers not interested either. Shocking when tenants paying for cleaners and decent managers.

TrustpilotMy Happy Home With Anchor.
I came back to the UK after living in Spain for twenty years. My husband had died in Spain the year before and it wasn't the same without him. I had been looking for a flat for myself and my little dog because I was staying temporarily with my daughter and son-in-law. After being refused a flat many times because of my dog I rang Anchor who put me on their waiting list. The following day I got a call from Pamela Corbett about a studio in an over 55 retirement scheme in Summerfield House, near Chester. By this time I felt so jaded about my housing situation that I agreed to see the studio, thinking it would have been a stop gap until I found a one bedroom flat. Pamela, the scheme manager, was so cheerful and friendly that I was able to see the studio and the benefits of the scheme through her eyes and moved in the next week.I have not been so happy since losing my dear husband and now have a delightful studio and I have made lots of friends.

Hello Maria,Thank you for your feedback.Anchor purchases gas on behalf of residents who live in locations with communal gas heating. Anchor entered into a fixed-price, fixed-term contract with Gazprom Energy, the UK arm of global energy company Gazprom, until April 2023. Under these arrangements, we have been able to secure best value and insulate residents from rising gas prices. To secure gas supplies across Europe until at least September, the German government has taken full control of German arm of Gazprom (Gazprom Germany), which is the parent company of Gazprom Energy UK. We welcome the action of the German government and will continue to monitor this situation closelyRegardsLynsey

TrustpilotWish things had been better
We have just moved from Anchor five rivers at Goole. Our time there in many ways was not easy lots of issues that to be honest were just swept under the carpet so to speak.Having a relative who lives in the next block of flats and who is disabled kept us from leaving at that point.Unfortunately just before Christmas last year a very heavy smoker was moved in underneath us, smoke fills the communal area and was coming into our kitchen cupboard.Yes Anchor did try to seal the downstairs pipes up to try and stop this happening but to no avail. The three residents of that block all complained by letter but still nothing as been done.Today I am wrighting this as I feel so sorry for the other tenants who are still having to suffer this issue and again unfortunately one of them as C.O.P.D. which Anchor are well aware of.I know Anchor do not have a no smoking policy in there flats but when you feel you have to move from your own home to be free of this kind of thing it is very sad.

TrustpilotDodgy financial department
My mum had to go into a nursing home after having lived in an Anchor flat for many years. She was due a rent refund at the end of the one month notice period and so we left her direct debit in place which was a big mistake. Anchor continued to take rent “in error” and trying to get Anchor to refund all the money they owe to my mum is proving to be very difficult. We get one flimsy excuse after another and mum is still waiting for her refund after 5 weeks. This appears to be either gross incompetence or deliberate delay tactics on the part of Anchor. My advice to other residents based on our experience is not to trust the Anchor financial department, take control and cancel your direct debit early. When you vacate, wait for them to send you an invoice for any outstanding rent and then pay it. This will save you a lot of time, stress and phonecalls chasing them as well as being out of pocket for months.

St Cements Court Clacton On Sea Phase 1 & 2 disgraceful. Would never consider residing there after visiting. Both have completely changed for the worse over the last few years and I'd say very hazardous now without health & Safety. Both phases are dirty and grubby. Dirty floors and toilets. Tenants seem worse who the managers are moving in. No respect. Managers are useless and not even worth wasting breath to complain to. Earning money under false pretences. I am giving this review for Vicarage Court in Gateshead. My mam has lived there for a year now. The place was fantastic until they moved someone in with severe problems. This lady is running rampant, verbally and physically assaulting residents. The residents feel intimidated and no one is doing anything. I’m angry that my mam doesn’t feel safe. They manager isn’t qualified to deal with this and has gone on the sick! The police and ambulance services are always there. They are failing in their duty of care to my mam and the other residents. Please steer clear. I don’t know who made the decision to let this woman live there without the support she clearly needs. There are failing her too. All in all it is a mess and for now, DO NOT move in!

TrustpilotThe reason I have not given 5 stars
The reason I have not given 5 stars, well since leaving my house to go into Anchor properties, one thing I miss is my own washer and dryer. I could wash and dry when I wanted. When you move move into an Anchor property you will be on either a time slot of 2 hours, or some properties are go in and use if available. But, the laundry has a deadline, some close as early as 6pm! This isn’t good for people who still work I’ve known laundry warfare! Someone hasn’t removed their clothes OR someone has removed them and boy can that cause trouble.I feel my freedom has been removed with no private washing machine. So if you are thinking of moving into a property (not just Anchor) consider this.In the past managers have been bullies, I remember one for sure, he should have worked in a prison.Plus things, they allow pets, Anchor staff in Bradford are really nice. They have properties in nice areas, but it’s not like my house, which I had to give up.Just a few thoughts. Oh yes My last manager was ok.

I was pottering out in the garden at Willow Court, I was offered a cup of coffee by Alicia, one of the residents. I had just finished removing some unwanted plants, I turned round to pick up my cup from off of the windowsill, and suddenly felt dizzy, the next thing I knew I was laying on the floor. TrustpilotAnother fine mess
Brought up by the area manager at the last estate agm was that the fact that Anchor had paid in advance for 2 years worth of gas to all it's buildings from a supplier called Gazprom (Russian outfit). I've yet to find such a supplier that would accept 2 years advance payment. It's fair to say that our area manager hasn't got a clue what she's talking about. You can however enter into a 2 year contract and pay monthly.I've raised this issue here as Anchor customer services have a terrible habit of passing the buck in the hope that tenants will give up and desist. I've already written a review where I've mentioned I've been waiting some 10 months for a response asking Anchor to qualify unit prices in relation to gas and electricity. No response has been forthcoming. So I'll place this review here so there is no excuse. Gazprom supply all Anchor properties with gas. They are reputedly going to the wall which leaves all tenants in a bit of a quandry. 2 year contract or not, if they go to the wall we are in a mess. So Anchor, are you going to attempt to be honest and transparent and tell us what is going on ? Are you going to give the tenants a choice of replacement supplier or just impose one of your own choosing ? At the end of the day, we are the people that have to pay these bills and deserve a say.
