I recently used chancellors estate agents to move to one of there rented property’s. My dealing was with Declan Hartigan ,Who was very informed very helpful and welcoming. Very professional throughout the whole process keeping me informed with a personal touch. It's always a nice surprise when somebody remembers your name considering the amount of people they have to deal with. I am basing the 5 star rating on Ciara Flaherty's services. She was excellent from start to finish, helping us find a house, supporting us throughout the process, and making sure that the purchase was completed properly. This was a complicated transaction because of some extenuating circumstances related to the house, but Ciara went above and beyond to make sure that the sale took place in the best possible way. A note to other potential buyers working with Chancellors', DO NOT use their "in-house" mortgage and solicitors services! I switched my mortgage advisor mid-way through the process, but made the mistake of staying with their Conveyancing team/Solicitors, and I regret it immensely. They were extremely slow or outright unresponsive to emails, which led to significant unnecessary delays. Once again, Ciara stepped up to liaise with the solicitors to get things done, but it was a cumbersome process, as I would have expected the solicitors to both communicate well and to speed up the process. As such, while I recommend Chancellors for properties, I would strongly advise against using their support teams.

Me, my husband and our daughter just moved yesterday to our new flat. I can't belive all process was so quick and not as complicated as I first thought. Very special thanks to Nathan Tan, he was very patient and professional, he really supported us. He explained us everything, sometimes twice as we are not a native speakers ;). If you're a bit scared of all this "scary" agencies, forms, processes and other things that may seem to be complicated I can honestly recommend you chancellors and Nathan. Big thanks again!

What a pleasant experience! I went into the Henley branch and spoke to Jon, a very helpful employee for your Henley area. I needed some assistance in my property search and I was very impressed with your employees knowledge of the area, not only places/areas within my budget but also how close the houses were to everything else I would need to be around or near my new home, schools, shops etc! I'm in a bit of a rush as I am moving to the area for a job and knew nothing about Henley and surrounding suburbs. Whilst I was in the branch I was comfortable the whole time and did not feel pressured at all, which is refreshing for an estate agents! I left feeling like I had real direction on what was now within my means and will be back to arrange viewings next time I am in the area! A great experience overall!

Chancellors helped me to buy an investment property in November. During the refurbishment of the flat Declan organised an Open House viewing so that when the work was complete we could have a tenancy agreement in place straight away. This generated a lot of interest and several potential tenants attended. This resulted in us having 3 viable offers from which to choose, one for more than the asking price/rent. Our new tenants moved in a few days later on completion of checks etc. Communication was excellent throughout and Declan made sure that we were kept in the loop at all times. We could not have turned it round any quicker if we tried. Well done Declan and all the team at Chancellors for an excellent job!

I write these few words to personally thank two very professional guys that I had met at Chancellors during my last letting: Declan Hartigan and Jonathan Pincott. My letting process has not been so straigthtforward. Nevertheless, the "human factor" does play a paramount role even in the difficult moments. This is the second year letting my property through Chancellors Headington Branch. I am impressed with the services provided by different teams. First of all, I would like to say Thank You to Jonathan Pincott, Catherine Green, Jessica Potter, Paul Robinson, Richard Ward and Semi. Jonathan Pincott from the Letting team has been very efficient in advertising the property. Jonathan is approachable and willing to answer any questions even if he is on holiday. I appreciate the fact that he also has a flexible working style. He will not in force processes to be followed if they are not applicable. Having said that, he also makes sure that everything is in the right order. Catherine Green from Contract team is a reliable person. Catherine helped me to update some details on the contract in short notice. She made the amendments very quickly and ensured the contracts were exchanged smoothly. She is willing to give up her personal time to ensure all the relevant work is completed. I still cannot believe receiving a call at 8:30pm on a Friday night from Catherine who was telling me that everything is going well and documents will be with you first thing in the morning on Monday. She is a great employee to have. Jessica Potter from Oxfordshire Management team has impressed me hugely. She is the third person from this team following up my property. She is definitely the best one by far. I am a very detail person and love tracking everything using spreadsheets (I know, it is a little sad). I always send Jessica a list of questions which she is always able to follow up on and provide an update as soon as she can. Whenever work is required to be done at the property, Jessica can provide a few quotations in short notice and explain to me what are the differences. She is very patient and organised. She is a great asset to any employer. Paul Robinson from Expert Services team did a very good job ensuring all work are compliant to any health and safety rules. Paul is good at keeping me up to date if there is any changes. One point to note here: I always accept the quotation from one engineer, Richard Ward. This is because Richard Ward and his partner Semi are extremely efficient in providing quotation. They are always contactable and willing to answer any relevant questions. One of their strengths (out of many) is that they are very good at prioritising work to be carried out. Another strength (again, out of many) is that the quality of work is at a very high standard. Richard Ward plays quite a big part of my decision making of using Chancellors again for the second year.

I felt that you listened to us and contacted us regarding properties that we would be interested in, in the areas that we were interested in. You demonstrated a good knowledge of the areas and housing prices. You did not bombard us with unnecessary contact and came across very well. I chose Chancellors in Headington as Agents to manage and rent my Property, as their terms were attractive and they have a large number of clients on their books. As it was approaching the end of the year I figured it would be quite difficult to find anyone before Christmas and their large client base would give me the best chance. Well within 6 hours of confirming their appointment they showed the first client round, and within 4 days 20 people had viewed the Property. All of this before the property had even gone on the website. I had a couple of offers by then but decided to wait until at least the property was on the web. By the following Monday (6 days after I had instructed Chancellors) I had 3 firm offers. They sat me down and impartially went through the pro’s and con’s of all three and helped me to come to a decision. Lucia Giacoponello was my account manager and at every stage of the reference checking and contract creation process she kept me informed, chased me up in the politest manner for the obligations I had. She was happy to fit in with my schedule and I never felt like I had to wait ‘in line’ to get seen. The move went very smoothly, I am very happy with the tenant as I hope they are with the house, and after a few months of renting now, Chancellors still keep me informed of payments made to my account with professional statements easily accessible through E-Mail and online. All in all the whole process has been very smooth and stress free thanks largely to Lucia and the team that support her. I would highly recommend Chancellors in Headington for anyone who is looking for a professional property management firm.

My boyfriend and I have just moved into our new lovely flat which we rented through Chancellors Headington. The whole experience was amazingly smooth - the initial contact and viewing arrangements, reference check and finalizing the contract. Our lettings agent Lucia Giacoponello was most helpful and friendly and made huge difference to the whole experience (our first experience of dealing with an agency happened to be very successful!). We would definitely recommend this agency to everyone who is looking for a wide range of quality properties and efficient and friendly service.

Absolutely abysmal service for those looking to rent. Complete disregard and disinterest in safeguarding the tenants’ rights, they will support the landlord every time. Myself and the four others I lived with have vowed never to deal with Chancellors again, as their attitudes and approach to delivering customer service on the part of the tenant is non existent. They don’t care one iota about your rights as a tenant once they’ve been paid.

The staff working at the Headington branch have clearly not received proper training for their roles. My wife and I have called numerous times to this branch and each time spoken with a different employee who has no knowledge of any property or details about anything. I get told the system is slow so I have to wait each time 5 or so minutes for the system to load. I have spoken to a few young members of staff and one which was new who had very minimal knowledge and said I would get a call back by a different colleague, I was not called back. Another instance is when I asked if a property could be made available earlier than the stated date, instead of answering my question I was told that another colleague will call me to arrange a viewing. I did not even mention the word viewing in this conversation, you cannot just use a default answer for every query. I will definitely not be contacting Chancellors anymore and will not be recommending them to anyone either.

While aggressive, desperate marketing appears to be the hallmark of the modern estate agent, avant-garde Chancellors appear determined to push this medium to its extremes. Having had the misfortune of purchasing my house through them, I decided against selling or letting my property with Chancellors after I moved out based on this experience, combined with the arrogance that exudes from their employees. Unfortunately, it seems I will now spend the rest of my life receiving near-daily emails and calls from Chancellors asking me to let my property with them. If Chancellors are to be believed, it seems almost every doctor in the country is clamouring at their door for the opportunity to rent my tiny one bedroom property. Update: amazingly, right after getting the below reply from Chancellors I got my daily phone call and email from Chancellors about yet more doctors wanting to rent my property. Lucky me!!! Update October 2021: oh god they've started harassing me again! This time phone calls because I am apparently interested in investment properties! I will now be reporting this rogue organisation to the Information Commissioner's Office for every attempt they make to contact me.
