Foxtons did not pay me my rent for 5…

Foxtons did not pay me my rent for 5 months, even with a rental guarantee protection. My tenants paid Foxtons, but the money was sat in the Foxtons system and not released to my bank account, but subsequent fixing of this took months and payments dating back to Dec 2023 were also outstanding - as they mistakenly took my money for repairs which were also the tenants costs. For me, too many mistakes and now they are not communicating with me to resolve this, after I asked for an ombudsman and for the management fee's to be waivered for the period I was not paid. This seemed like a reasonable request to me.

Foxtons are complete crooks and liars.

Foxtons are complete crooks and liars. They have lied to the courts and made defamatory statement denying all claims of their staff giving false information.I am writing this review to alert others and be very wary of this company as they are not only capable of lying to customers they will lie to the courts to protect themselves.I will now be a witness in court in support of my family member as 5k reservation was kept by yourselves and now your are telling lies which is slander. I would like to inform you I was present at the ballymore show room office in canary wharf behind pan peninsula when you was selling Wardian property and I was a witness and accompanied my family member. I have seen spoken to Christine and read all the text messages and heard the voice recordings saved from yourselves. You can't lie that is slanderous espically when I have seen and listened to all the evidence. What these people have put my family member through is disgusting and I will be in court to testify as a witness as its not only me who has heard and witnessed your unprofessional misconduct of your company lying. Our whole family and friends have witnessed everything. And to now lie to the courts and say your employer didn't say what she did is outrageous and I hope the judge hits you with hard penalties. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS ESTATE AGENCY AS THEY ARE ENABLING AND ARE THE FRONT FACE OF THESE CROOKED CONTRUCTION COMPANIES SUCH AS BALLYMORE USING FOXTONS TO SELL THEIR PROPERTIES AND LEGALLY GETTING AWAY WITH STEALING MILLIONS FROM WORKING CLASS PEOPLE.FOXTONS EVEN DENIED KNOWING WHO THEIR ESTATE AGENT WAS INITALLY. AND THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS.CHELSEA WAXKIRSH

Good once you are established

My early experience with Foxtons varied. On the one hand, they were quick to get the rental property on the market. On the other hand, I did feel pressured to take a tenant I was unsure of.Once Frank took over the account, I was put at ease and supported through some difficult months with the tenant. The five star review reflects the respect I have for Frank and my recent experience with the company; payments are prompt and the online system is good. The managed service is worth doing, particularly if you are starting out as a landlord.Do get up to speed on landlord legislation to help steer your conversations with any agency as the better informed you are, the better you can assess requests for paperwork.

Foxtons will not own their mistake and now I risk action against me

I am a private landlord and Foxtons manages my property. On the 24 April 2024 I received an email from British Gas saying my electricity bill was overdue. I have not even lived in the UK for 16 years so I was surprised to get a bill from British Gas.I forwarded the email to Foxtons. On the 10 May I was told by Foxtons that it was not the tenant that changed the bill name to me. It was a third party that Foxtons instructed by mistake called Tenant Shop. I have since been told that they also changed the gas bill, council tax and Thames Water bill. I have been trying to get them to change these names back now for 8 weeks. It had been escalated to Foxtons Operations Director. The Foxtons Operations Director has also been ignoring me for 2 weeks now. The Foxtons Operations Director had told me that the problem with the bills had been resolved. This was a lie.Today I received an email from British Gas saying that the unpaid bill (that is not mine) is being passed for collection and I will be liable for the costs in addition to the bill. Foxtons has completely abandoned this and failed to take ownership of their own mistake. Now I risk this debt being passed to a debt collector and possible legal action against me in a county court.I do not want a reply to this review asking me to contact customer services. You can simply ask your operations director for the details if you want to "help."

worst estate agents of all time

if i could give foxton's, specifically the marylebone branch, a negative review, i'd do it a million times. the most uncommunicative agent i've ever worked with (looking at you stella!) and honestly just straight up rude. i had to physically go to the foxton's in marylebone and demand to see stella to get any sort of information on my move in date - stella still refused to see me even though she was in the office, and had would only communicate with me through the front desk woman. the weekend before my move in date, i got an email from stella saying everything was all set for my move in. the day of, i had a tv getting delivered at 830am so i went to the flat early to receive it. finally at 930am stella answered my call and said that actually everything was not all set for my move in and i could not move in that day, essentially making me homeless on the side of the road with a 50in tv in a box and 3 suitcases. after taking matters into my own hands and getting in touch with the one legal department that needed sign off it turns out stella had mixed up the paperwork and it was all just a misunderstanding! however, stella had already wrote me off and didnt care. everything was still good for me to move in that day, and when i asked stella to meet me at the flat with my keys (remember i was standing on the side of the road will all of my stuff) she said she was busy but if it was important for me to move in that day i could walk to foxton's and retrieve my keys myself. after leaving all of my possessions in the care of a nearby construction team, i walked to foxtons where stella still refused to meet me and the keys were sitting at a table in the front, no one greeted me or explained anything. truly think stella is just not a good person and at the very least, extremely bad at her job and unhelpful. wouldn't recommend foxton's to my worst enemy. there are too many other estate agents in london to subject yourself to be treated with such disrespect.

Terrible Experience with Foxtons, Avoid at All Costs!

Renting through Foxtons was one of the worst decisions my wife and I have ever made. From start to finish, it was a nightmare. We agreed to rent a furnished flat, only for the landlord to change the terms after we signed the contract, demanding a ridiculous fee for the furniture. When we refused, the furniture was removed, but Foxtons insisted we pay the same rent for an unfurnished property. The problems didn't stop there. It took nearly three months and multiple escalations to get a broken dishwasher fixed, during which I had to remove the appliance myself because the repair company was so incompetent. The worst part was the heating bill fiasco. For almost two years, we weren't informed about any heating charges, only to be hit with an unexpected demand for payment and threats of eviction when we questioned it. Foxtons' communication was inconsistent and unhelpful, making the whole experience incredibly stressful. We were even served with a Section 21 eviction notice simply for challenging these unfair charges. Dealing with Foxtons was a constant battle, and their lack of professionalism and empathy was shocking. If you're considering renting through Foxtons, think again. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare.

Unorganized and unprofessional

Unfortunately, while renting through foxtons we experienced a series a very frustrating incidents that arose from their own disorganization and were disappointed in the lack of professionalism used and incompetence when resolving the issues they created. Firstly, they consistently charged us for the wrong amounts of rent, an issue which we repeatedly drew to their attention. They even went so far as to contact our landlord that we were in arrears when we were in fact not. Secondly, when arranging flat viewings they were at times scheduled without informing us or with as little as two hour notice. Our interactions with agents trying to schedule viewings at times boarded on rude as they would not respect our request for 24 hour notice and would argue back that they wanted to come. Ultimately, we had to involve our landlord as we were receiving more than 20 calls and e-mails a day. Finally, when moving out the flat inspector contracted by foxtons asked us to return the keys to him while another agent emailed asking us to return the keys to the branch. When said agent was called to clarify the proper procedure he didn’t know what to do and thought we should tell him (even though this is his job). He then said he would call back with instructions but never did. We ended up returning the keys to our nearest branch but were emailed a day later by another agent asking where the keys were?? The lack of communication and incompetence was frankly ridiculous and no customer service or apology was ever offered to us. In the future, we will refuse to rent through foxtons again.

Left without a communal area key for weeks

Imagine renting a flat where you don't have a key to the communal door and despite reporting it, it takes weeks before you get a notification to state its ready to pick up. Great you may think! If it wasn't bad enough being without this for weeks and relying on neighbours being in to buzz me in, I get told to go and pick up a key at a location that ,you guessed it, doesn't exist anymore. The branch has moved and this has been the case since June, yet in August 2024, Foxtons are still advising people to go to this address only to be greeted by a boarded up building. I would not recommend this estate agents, I think this summary pretty much shows how much they value customers. I will be honest, no matter who I spoken to, they couldn't be less interested in helping and are more concerned with plans for the weekend or what they are doing that evening.

Bad experience with changes to tenancy

This company has been terrible to deal with during my tenancy. I got married and my wife moved in with me, so I wanted to add her name to the tenancy agreement. It’s been 18 months and they still haven’t managed to do this. They were quick to charge the £50 adding fee but have been terrible to action this. I will be filing a formal complaint on this as well. I am moving out soon as I have found my own property but I am certain to not choose this company again for any dealings

Read the small print!

Read the small print!Foxtons, is a publicly listed company and present themselves very well - polite and friendly but this conceals a tough no-holds barred approach at the front end. I am assuming that they all work on commission and will do anything to close a deal. In our case they omitted to point out, as required by their code of conduct, that their fee was not the 3% stated on the signature page of their contract. Hidden in tiny print amongst their terms and conditions is a statement stating that a minimum fee applies which is £6k plus VAT. This is not a problem if you are selling a large property but that was not the case for us. We were selling a parking space to an existing Foxtons client and the fee equated to 12% of the selling price. We only discovered this when the completion statement came through. A hard lesson but well learned - read the small print before signing a contract with Foxtons (or anyone like them)

Do not use Foxtons - total waste of money

Do not use Foxtons - they are just a shiny shop front. They may find you a place to live, or a tenant, but then will charge you huge fees for everything, 2-5x what you would pay for maintenance, certificates, and surveys, They subcontract out every service to the cheapest, most incompetent companies, and will never hold their subcontractors to account for shoddy work. They employ office workers who will never see your property, but whose job it is to make excuses and manage liabilities for Foxtons and their subcontractors. Do not use their property management service or their useless ‘dashboard’ - you will regret paying them thousands of pounds to get ripped off and then fobbed off when things go wrong.
