Delays returning deposit

We vacated a property rented though Gascoigne Pees in Guildford - 6th Sept. It's now almost a 1 x month and we still yet to receive our deposit credited back to us. There was a small deduction that had to be agreed with the landlord as a few minor areas were missed during the professional clean. Standard practice is that your deposit is returned within 10 x days of leaving the property. Whilst we still await the return of the balance of our deposit £1,700 balance, in our experience dealing with Gascoigne Pees Guildford you should expect the following: Communication with the Guildford branch is very poor. They simply don't return calls or even respond unless you chase. You should expect to have to chase over and over again, by emails or calls. We waited up to four days without getting any response to messages or emails. Through-out any communication we've had regardless of how unfair the situation is they always favour the landlord. In summary, if you are choosing to rent through them be prepared for your deposit to take up to a month (or longer) for it to be returned back to you. Hopefully ours will come soon.

I have just recently rented a flat through Gascoigne pees with the help from a wonderful member of staff jade Turner. Jade was very professional and extremely helpful as we went through the process giving useful advice and information of each step of the process. I have just recently rented a flat in Guildford through Gascoigne pees with the help from a staff Jade Turner. Since I was still in Hong Kong when I secured the apartment and I am quite new to the property market in UK, Jade was very patient to guide me through the whole process and explain every step and detail to me. We were kept informed at every stage of the process regardless of whether our agent was in and all staff were very friendly, helpful and supportive. The service went above and beyond at all times and helped what could have been a stressful time run very smoothly. Warning - avoid this company at all costs!!

Tom is extremely unprofessional and dishonest. We accepted an offer back in May from a buyer on the basis that the buyer was a cash purchaser. We were then told in July that this was not the case and he was applying for a mortgage. Only when we were ready to exchange and complete in August the buyers solicitors informed us that the buyer had a related transfer of equity, unbelievable. We were told it could take up to 6 months to sort out. We were very disappointed about being kept in the dark about this so late in the transaction. Had we been privy to this we would not have accepted the offer in the first place.

Nigel and the team were absolute super stars throughout our purchase. The transaction was delayed for a significant amount of time due to probate and throughout they were responsive, chasing updates from solicitors and going above and beyond to keep us informed and keep momentum. We couldn't have asked for more help, they went to so much trouble for us going as far as physically collecting signed paperwork and taking it to solicitors there and then to remove any further delays. Unprofessional. I received an email confirmation for a viewing by one of the letting managers and when I turned up to the property no agent was there. I called the agency to be informed that they had not booked me in, despite the email confirmation I received and they offered to reschedule. That was the only day I had off and I had to drive for 35minutes to get to the property. Will not use this agency again. If they are that unprofessional before they even let the property I can imagine how terrible they would be after letting it. Very disappointed.

From first contact (Rowan) they were very professional and gave us a very accurate valuation which was not only achieved but was £25K higher than another leading firm were willing to put on their brochure. I am sure we would have achieved a lower sale price without their guidance. They only brought genuine viewers and escorted each one around the house with the result that we were under offer in just over 2 weeks. Also, around the time of exchange of contracts, Nigel was totally on top of the process and probably didn't make any friends with the buyers solicitors whom he kept pushing into action. We were kept fully informed of progress to the contract exchange several times a day usually by phone and also by email. In summary I would most definitely recommend Gascoigne-Pees.
