GoogleI rented through Cavender for the past 2 years and I was very pleased with the service they provided. Particularly the maintenance of the property, which was always attended to swiftly when we reported a problem. A lot of students rent in Guildford; many of which have problems with property agencies. I would definitely recommend Cavender to them!

GoogleAbsolutely disgusting service. Promised me furnished and everything but when picking up the keys they turned around and said it isn't after taking the deposit and the money up front. Asked why this is happening and replied they can do anything about it as the tenants are abroad and can't do anything g about it

Thank you for taking the time to write a review which I am naturally disappointed to read that you feel this is our oversight. Further to confirmation when you viewed the property that only the kitchen white goods were included, at the point of taking your interest on the property, this was confirmed again. Since then, and as my colleague David (the office manager) showed you when you were in the office, all of the paperwork we have states 'unfurnished'. This is also replicated on all the paperwork that we have sent you which you have been in possession of for several days. I have since also checked over all the paperwork myself and it does not state that any furnishings will be provided. I was present when David spoke to you and he informed you that, at your request, we have e mailed the landlord to advise them of your problem and see if they can subsequently agree to your furnishing request. As David confirmed, they are overseas and we will let you know their response when they reply to us. The reason we confirm all details in writing, as explained above, is to avoid situations of mis-communication. I am sorry that you have not seen that there has been no agreement for the landlord providing furnishings for this tenancy despite our efforts both verbally and in writing to confirm that the property was 'unfurnished'. I hope this clarifies the situation, however, if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Matt

GoogleDon't ever think about dealing with cavender lettings ! They are awful ! no trust as they are very dishonest and will try to make as much money as they can off you.. Also, they will ignore any problems you will have in your house even if you email them about it all year long.

Dear Osheen As per my e mail communication with you, we do not make any money from deductions made on a security deposit. We work to a professional independent inventory. If this states there should be deductions due to the way in which the property was left at the end of the Tenancy, the Landlord will naturally seek this to return the property to its original condition. As you are aware, there were many items raised on the check out report which the Landlord had to rectify in order to get the property in a suitable condition for the new Tenants. I have looked in to your point regarding maintenance issues and can see everything reported to us was dealt with promptly. If there is anything I have overlooked, please let me know and I will happily investigate it.

GoogleA comfortable retirement is what I get using Cavenders. They are efficient and are always professional in everything that they do, from Lettings and Repairs to preparing and looking after the property. The landlord of the property was not satisfied with your references, or the additional information you provided. Therefore, they did not feel comfortable proceeding with the tenancy so they withdrew. We are disappointed that you see this as our decision and you are not able to understand that we do not benefit from this situation, and that we have in fact incurred financial loss. However, all landlords should feel entirely comfortable with their proposed tenants and we would not encourage a landlord to proceed with a tenancy they have concerns about.

I am sorry that you are disappointed with the service we have provided you. However, to clarify, there were no costs to you, let alone hidden costs. Under the Tenant Fee Act 2019, agents cannot charge tenants a fee. You have confused your initial holding deposit forming part of your security deposit. The deposit remains your money, it is not a charge. I hope this clarifies your confusion.
