Countrywide have managed my rental property for a number of years now. I decided to refurbish the property last year and received great advice from Mhairi who was able to support me with suggestions on the level of work required and the recommendation of a contractor to complete the work. Arrangements were made by Countrywide directly with the contractor for him to start work with funds held until works were complete and approved. Once the property was ready to go back on the market, a new tenant was found within the day! Recently, my tenants experienced an issue with flooding caused by a leak in the flat above. Countrywide were able to facilitate discussions with my tenant, the upstairs tenant and landlord along with the building factors and insurers. Scott was extremely helpful, keeping both myself and the tenant informed at regular intervals. He took ownership of the issue and resolved it, leaving the tenant satisfied - this is where you really see the value of an experienced professional letting agent. Since the very start of my relationship with Countrywide I have to say I was totally impressed with Louise Penman at the Glasgow office. She was punctual at the viewing of property, extremely informative and was a very upbeat positive person. We were selling our property and had several estate agents out in a short period of time. Gavin from countrywide was the last one of the day and we were going to make a quick phone call to cancel. Simply could not be happier that we didn't make that call. Gavin was honest, professional and particularly pleasant to deal with. He gave us an idea of what to expect and in what kind of time frame the current market was moving. We were then passed to Kirstin, Megan and Julie in the office who kept us constantly up to date and in the loop with viewings and interest and feedback. After engaging with another Estate Agents in the West End of Glasgow and being incredibly disappointed, I was thoroughly impressed with the service from Countrywide. My property went on the market in November 2020 and was sold by January 2021. As the sale occurred during the global pandemic, it was key that Countrywide support me on visits, as I was unable to visit the property. Avoid selling with Countrywide Glasgow - West End Sales if you want to be sure you will sell for the highest available offer. Here was my experience with them. I am currently a first time buyer. The number one priority for me is that the property is in a good school catchment area and that any other schools in the area are also good. That way when my son starts school next year he will have the best chance of attending a good school. This has proven to be quite difficult, it does seem after all of the research I have put into Glasgow primary schools that it is rare that 2 or more good schools are next to each other. Anyway eventually I found a property online on Raeberry Street, North Kelvinside that met my requirements. The problem was I work 50 hours a week and live in Edinburgh so getting to Glasgow for a viewing was taking me a few days. I did have a viewing booked that I had to cancel. I called Countrywide to cancel but informed them that I am very interested in the property, but I didn't want to make an offer until I had a viewing. So I asked them to make a note of interest for me and to call me if any other offers are going to be made. They said this was no problem and they would put me down as a verbal note of interest. They confirmed that they would contact me if any other offers or notes of interest were made so I would have the opportunity to bid too before it sold. A few days later i went online to look at the property, I was confused and disappointed to see that it was "sold subject to contract". I called up to find out what was going on and why I hadn't been contacted before it was sold. The explanation I got was that because it was a verbal note of interest they did not contact me because it has to be an official note of interest made through a solicitor. This would have been very useful information if they had informed me before the property had been sold and when I had previously called. I then asked what the purpose was of a verbal note of interest if contact is only made on an official note of interest. The reply I got basically said a verbal note of interest is pointless. If I had been told this when I originally called about my note of interest I would have made an official note of interest through my solicitor. What they told me though when I originally called was completely contradictory to this. I also have reason to believe that this property sold for under the market value. I was willing to pay the market value so it seems that countywide failed to get the seller the money that they should have got them. Considering the huge amount of money that an agent receives when a property sells, this level of incompetence is not acceptable. I missed out on the opportunity they should have given me to make an offer, and the seller lost money. For the record I do want to say that the person that answered the phone James Robertson was very professional and apologetic. Regardless though I am very unhappy with this company. They sell a lot of properties so as a buyer it is difficult to avoid them. But if you are a seller I would recommend finding a different agent to sell with. You will be paying them a lot of money so make sure you choose an agent that will do what you pay them to do.

Really good experience with Countrywide on the recent sale of my 2 bed flat. From meeting Gavin when he came to discuss the sale it was clear he was very professional and knowledgeable in his field. Once the process was started Bobby and his team (Megan and James) were fantastic. Calling every day to arrange viewings as well as to provide feedback on prior viewings and where the process was at as well as giving regular updates and advice on what happens next. As a first time seller these guys made it an easy seamless process, kept me informed and advised throughout and removed my concerns that selling a house was an extremely stressful thing to do. Both Jamie and Kellie have been very helpful in finding an accommodation in Glasgow. As an expat it can be quite hard to find a property in a foreign country. However, with their help we found a beautiful place for both my partner and I, in a very short timespan (only about 2-3 weeks from our initial viewing to receiving the property keys).
