House is falling apart, bribes for positive NHBC reviews!

We have been in our 5 bed ‘Regent’ house for 20 months now. No end of issues, around 300 defects across the property, and several still remaining. It has recently come to light that there are issues with the timber frame, evident through the many out of tolerance walls, ceilings, and floors which are either sloping or dipping in areas. We have had to use wedges under our newborn babies cot to stop him rolling to the edge! At some point in the near future we will have to move out so they can rebuild some, if not all of the property. I could write a book on how bad Persimmon/Charles Church have been; they are an absolute shambolic house builder. Not a single element of the property has been built diligently or with pride. The brick work is embarrassing, the render is cracking, the carpentry throughout is extremely poor, as is the decorating, and if you like your turf laid on construction debris and rocks then you’re onto a winner! Soon after purchasing the Site Manager was bribing us with quicker action to our highlighted defects in return for a positive NHBC survey response, this is totally inappropriate and unacceptable. My advice would be to avoid this house builder at all costs.

Communications from Home Change haven't been as good as we would have expected.After an initial good impression, we asked to market our house with home change but, nearly a week later, have had no update and have been unable to talk to anyone despite phoning on multiple occasions to both Bobbie and home change. Harlands Park, Uckfield - I don’t think you’ll find better customer care with any other developer

We moved into out new home 6 days ago, it’s been a great experience. The house is beautiful, we’re so happy with it. Yes there are some small snags to feedback but you would always get this kind of thing with a new build and it’s an expected part of the process. The house is great but the thing that really stands out is the customer service from Charles Church. Darren and his team Mick, Steve, Sean have been so incredibly helpful and really gone above and beyond. You can reach them at any time and they go out of their way to help with any issues. I don’t think many developers would operate this way, Darren opened up a direct line of comms very early in the process and as a customer you feel very reassured in the knowledge that you can reach out to him at any time. We had a small problem with one of our patio doors, Darren was in constant contact until the issue was resolved. I don’t think you’ll find better customer care with any other developer. The sales staff are very impressive too. Christine, Trudy and Rob have all been easy to reach and again so helpful.It’s been a great first week for us here, looking forward to settling in.

Amazing new Home - Harlands Park

We have now completed on our new home in the Harlands park development and all I can say is WOW the home is perfect. Having seen the stories online about new builds I was anxious purchasing a new build however its perfect! The site manager Steve and Contract Manager Darren were amazing and genuinely care about the quality of their work, it comes across in abundance. Throughout the buying process Darren kept us updated, sent pictures during key milestones and was happy to help with anything. Steve couldn't have made it clearer they were there to help and the work ethic is always customer first. On move in day the amount of workers who came and congratulated us and welcomed us to our new home was lovely. Feel very lucky to have brought a property with these two looking after our home.

This review is based on the property and on site builders specifically. We Purchased a 3 Bedroom semi detached house with Charles Church in Uckfield. Our new home is better than expected in person as we bought off plan and the quality of the building is very good. We also couldn’t be happier with the upgrades we asked for. Steve, Mick and Darren are a credit to the company and have gone above and beyond for us. Small snags have been dealt with quick and efficiently with no questions asked.Thank you to Jason who has done our snagging, he was very helpful and friendly. We are looking forward to bringing up our family in our new home.

Lorraine and Abi are great

From the beginning to end in all has been good service. There is a lot of pressure from Charles Church to get the sale completed asap but in all honesty who doesn’t want to get in their new home! In a lot of cases the pressure on agents/solicitors sped the process up. There are a few snags that need sorting but that is to be expected. Lorraine and Abi in Bishops Stortford have been amazing and informative all the way through and have still made themselves readily available even after moving in. We did hit a hiccup with completion date that was not acceptable to us but Abi and Georgia fought our corner and got it bought forward by 2 weeks which was greatly appreciated. The information from Charles Church is all thorough and conveniently in a pack. So far really happy.

From initial contact last September with Liz in the Site Sales Office through to now, July 2022, The Charles Church Team have been excellent.Handover on the day of purchase last December was undertaken by Steve (Site Manager). Steve is very courteous, informative and approachable and he, and his deputy Harry, have continued to be so through the whole snagging process.We have had several trades personnel visit to deal with the various snagging issues which have been sorted out to our satisfaction and with no hassle. Extremely inadequate customer service

Extremely poor customer service. My mum invested months of time looking into and waiting for one of their property developments, this included giving them all our details and our successful mortgage application very early on before building had even begun. She was told that because of our early interest and providing evidence of our successful mortgage application early on we would be first on the list to choose from their apartments in their upcoming development. When the properties were finally released after months of waiting, we drove 2 hours for a pre-booked viewing, to find out when we arrived that the property we had spent months waiting for had been sold that morning. There was no efforts of communication, no phone call warning us of the situation, no consultation with us and a very poor apology for all our time and effort wasted when we thought we had built rapport. I really do not recommend Charles Church, their respect for their customers is extremely inadequate.

Although the build is lovely the entire experience has been appalling, stressful And upsetting. A year of false promises of moving dates, a rude obnoxious sales manager Barbara, sales member Danny absolutely useless in our choices appointments. Yuanita was really helpful towards the end and I finally thought we were getting somewhere with promises of all the snags to be done prior to moving. 2 weeks on still awaiting a new door, letter box, door handle, door, and both showers ti be fixed. The Charles church experience sadly just continues to be an utter disaster.

We bought the house at Christmas it was built but needed fitting completely. The sales team were excellent Nick is professional friendly and very knowledgeable. From day one he kept us informed all the way to moving in cannot speak highly enough of his help all the way throughout the process he was aware of our situation of been let down by another builder on Wynyard so he only promised what he could deliver. Since moving in Graham site manager has taken over our move in and any snagging required. So far excellent service nothing to much for him and his team. All staff who have been are friendly helpful and a asset to Charles Church. Special mention for Alan, Graham’s right hand man he has been so helpful and efficient a credit agsin to Charles Church. A 5 star service which Charles Church fully deserved.

Germany Beck- York. Charles Church to Persimmon- Same Development!

I’ve bought a persimmon home on the same development on Germany Beck in york. About 200 metres away from my current Charles church home. It’s not ready yet and I am due to move in about 3 months but what prompted me to do this early review was the sheer amount of support I have again received from Charles church/persimmon. I had more than a few obstacles to overcome to get the plot I really wanted on Germany Beck,York.Ben Roberts was again hugely influential in helping me get this over the line and we managed to thrash out a deal that was suitable for both sides. He has been absolutely brilliant yet again. The sales team of Liam and Rebecca have kept me fully informed from choosing my extras to providing timelines which has made this process more than enjoyable and quite literally stress free. I am now again enjoying watching my new home being built up to now roof height and the site manager Andy is just quite simply the best site manager in the business! This is fact! Nothing is too much trouble. His deputy merv has been equally outstanding as has the contact I've enjoyed with all the dedicated tradesman. If you want to move to a hugely desirable place just on the outskirts of York city centre and enjoy first class service then Germany Beck is the one for you.I have had nothing but excellent top notch service from both Charles church and persimmon spanning a little over 2 years which is why I’ve chosen to move home on the same development. I now can’t wait to enjoy the same high standards and finish to my new home in the coming months which will inevitably give me a platform to do another review once I move in.I sold my house in days and this was because of the finish and attention to detail they put into it as it was being built and on completion. So please also invest in the many extras that are available to you when buying as it’s worth it’s weight in gold.Onwards and upwards to my new home/project and probably my final home. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We are very pleased with the purchase…

We are very pleased with the purchase of our Charles Church home from start to finish. Everything went smoothly. The sales team was excellent, helpful and full of energy. They were available throughout and went out of their way to ensure that we were fully informed. They were very honest and took a neutral stand: No sales pressure or biased presentation you get from some sales people. This gave us time to reflect and make the decisions that we made without pressure.The site manager and his team were extremely helpful as well. They were always available when we moved in to ensure that our first week in the property was comfortable and worry-free. Any issues we raised were resolved immediately. We liked the idea of the 7-day inspection report. This was useful for reporting any faults and also served as a recording tool for follow-up. The site manager was always available and sometimes resolved issued personally himself. We have warded 4 stars out of 5 because we feel there is room for improvement:1. Some aspects of the property itself did not meet our expectations. For example, we were surprised but not put off by exposed soil stack pipes. Apart from being unsightly, the exposed soil pipes are an obstruction in the paved walk ways.2. The garage location for the neighbour is rather awkward. It is positioned right at the back of the neighbour’s garden, next to our front parking space. Anyone looking at the garage would think it is part our property. This is likely to confuse our visitors who might mistakenly park there.3. It was unfortunate that we could not upgrade our electrical fittings (socket and light switches) because the upgrade material had apparently run out.4. There should be an option to upgrade the bathroom and kitchen if the buyer can afford it and is willing to pay the cost of the upgrade. Overall, the service we received was brilliant. This being the second time we have purchased a new home we are pleased to state that the quality and finish of the property is excellent. Beauty and Darwin Kaluba
