I had a dreadful experience with Bernard Skinner while trying to purchase a property in Eltham. My offer was accepted, and I was assured that the property had been taken off the market with no further viewings. However, more than a week later, I was suddenly informed that a previous viewer had made a higher offer, and the property was no longer mine, despite their repeated reassurances that all prior viewers had been contacted and no other offers had been made. They later backtracked on their assurances, claiming that I had misunderstood and that the property would only be taken off the market once I had provided certain documents, something they had never mentioned before. This was a blatant attempt to cover up their dishonesty and justify their unethical behaviour. I had already appointed a solicitor, paid a deposit, and spent money on translation services, all based on their false promises. As a result, I suffered financial loss and unnecessary stress. This was an incredibly unprofessional and deceitful experience. If you're looking for a trustworthy estate agent, avoid Bernard Skinner.

Dated agency premises internally with an unfriendly vibe - some time ago I was very interested in a flat they were marketing - they were strangely non communicative about arranging a viewing claiming they would contact me once they had access - chased them after hearing nothing for a week only to be told it was sold now 🤬🤬🤬There are better agents out there. We have been looking for our dream home for a long time and I can certainly say Bernard Skinner in Eltham is the worst agency we've come across. We made an offer for a house but after a week without updates we saw the property was sold and Steven Pender didn't even bother to let us know or let us negotiate. Steven showed us a couple of properties in the area and was very knowledgeable about Eltham and the Progress Estate. We recently sold my late mother’s house and - based largely on alphabetical order - chose Bernard Skinner to handle the sale. Their service throughout was exceptional - providing a prompt and very accurate market valuation; arranging an energy survey; advising on a choice of solicitors; arranging and conducting a large number of viewings; keeping us informed throughout the process of progress and the status of each potential purchaser and - in spite of a lengthy delay while probate was granted - managing all aspects of the sale through to completion. A really professional service. Bernard Skinner's advice in relation to the sale price was positive and realistic. I had valuations from other local and national agents which proved to be wide of the mark given our eventual sale-price. I opted for Bernard Skinner as the advice was based on the most up to date market information regarding comparable properties. We had more than a dozen viewings in the first few days of the house being marketed and had accepted an offer within a week. This meant that the process of selling our home was stress-free.
