Great experience so far. I found a flat to let, the viewing was nice and easy and all the references' checks and paperwork got done in 2-3 days. It made my life so easy and I am very pleased with the whole experience as it was a very stressful situation. When I collected the keys, Kerr arranged all the bills for me so the flat was ready to live in straight away. Totally recommended!

What an absolutely rude review, I'm not a landlord, or a tenant and after that reply I never will be, I was merely stating the obvious that you put a sign up, and I searched that area in edinburgh for 3 weeks and absolutely nothing came up on your site at all, Longstone Rd, inglis Green Rd, or even graysknowe. I love the fact that after me leaving a review, that you have nothing better to do than actually ridicule my name for a start, I have recently split from my wife and was looking for somewhere to rent, thankfully after reading the comment that you have left, I'm pretty sure 100% that I will probably now, never call you or even recommend you to anyone, absolutely flabbergasted you would try and slag my surname off to a cheap Hollywood movie, I have no other words, shocking. And yes I am very real, and that was an honest review........wow

I have really enjoyed my tenancy with The Flat Company thus far, and would say that I will be prioritizing flats through them in the future whenever I leave my current situation. Our property manager, Lauren, has always been very prompt and helpful with her responses, doing her best to relay information between ourselves and the landlord, or to keep us informed whenever there were any maintenance requests (few and far between). All in all, would wholly recommend them for their great service and professional attitudes.

We were one of the Flat Company’s first clients and have been with them for over 16 years. We have now sold our flat, but I would like to congratulate and recommend them. Our flat was only empty 1 month during this period and that was at the start of Covid. All their staff are friendly and knowledgeable and take all normal ownership issues away from you. In addition, they provide at the end of age tax year a full summary of revenue and costs which can almost be lifted and inserted into your tax return. ** NOTE: This review describes my experiences as a renter with TFC from 2016-2017. Although outdated, I felt a strong urge to share my views anyway given how horribly it went down, and I sincerely hope they changed since then ** From the first moment that my tenancy started with TFC, I knew I was in bad hands. The whole kitchen was ridden with mouse poop from literally Day 1. When we appealed to the company for a complaint and a solution, given it was just Day 1 of our tenancy, we got the customary letter that basically said "not our problem, it's the Council's problem". Fast forward a few months later, we had made an agreement with the landlord (via the TFC) that we would buy a freezer and microwave with our own money and then he/she would reimburse us shortly after, as the appliances would stay with the property. Needless to say I had to personally chase this with TFC for the next 5 months till we managed to get the money back - imagine being a student and having an extra debt from this just because this company and their people decided to not care any less. They may have thought that money grows on trees at the time... In the meantime, the TFC also failed to notify us when our Flat Manager was no longer with them and that we had been assigned another one. This went on for 2-3months, which meant that any email communications and requests I made with our initial Manager/correspondent went down the drain. I was basically talking on my own and they didnt even have the courtesy to let me know of that. And not even an apology for the inconvenience. The final straw - 2 weeks before our tenancy agreement ended, we suffered from a major pipeb blockage. Basically everything apart from the loo was blocked. Water from the kitchen sink would come up the shower, and vice versa, and water was bound to overflow/flood the house. When we called for emergency help (cause we literally couldn't even shower or wash our hands), they mentioned that this was not an emergency situation and that we had to try commercial blockage solutions (like those gels.lol.) They eventually decided it was serious enough after 2 days of failed attempts (obviously) and they hired a crew. It took the professional crew 7 days to manage to solve the issue. And they expected us to try and fix it ourselves. In the meantime we were forced to take showers at a friend's house, during the most stressful time of the year (May exams for any students out there) To top all of this, they had the audacity to cut money from our deposit for minor cosmetic damages, just to make it clear that our journey was bound to be unpleasant. Our experience with The Flat Company was great. Any time there was an issue with maintenance, our issue was resolved promptly, for example, the first night my bed broke and 48hours later i had a new bed, no questions asked, the same with mirror. Sidonie was our initial agent and was very helpful with explaining our lease etc, then we had Jessica Jamieson who was lovely. Any questions i had about anything she was more than happy to help any way she could. Very professional, helpful and personable, too. The only slight issue we had was when contractors were contacting us to book appointments without us hearing from TFC to alert us that we would be contacted by contractors. However, when i called TFC they explained everything and it was fine. We also managed to get our full deposit back which we were very grateful for. We were a group of 5 students of different nationalities studying at Heriot Watt University for 1 semester. We rented a flat that could accommodate all of us and Mr Crawford assisted us through the whole process. Any issues that arose during our tenancy (that were out of the agency's control) were handled very professionally and in a timely manner. Absolute shambles trying to book a viewing with them. Cancelled on me twice, second time without notifying me and after securing time off work. Booked for a third viewing the week after (done manually since they didn't get back to me with times despite advertising it online), again no answer and had to call to find out they had already given the flat away. No notification to save me wasting my time and taking more time off. If this is how you treat potential tenants, I feel bad for anyone stuck with you as their letting agency. Avoid.
