Mcewan Fraser Legal is much more than an estate agency and legal firm. We were persuaded by clients that we should use the digital marketing arm of McEwan Fraser. WOW. We have used agencies in Dubai, London and Barcelona. Andrew McLaren built the strategy, managed the website build and we were hugely impressed with the speed and quality of his and his team's work. The team are doing a brilliant job in managing our ad campaign and we have seen a 20x increase in quality leads since engaging McEwan Fraser. The only shame is they keep the service a secret. Call them.

A first class service from start to finish, which took less than 8 weeks. Stress free and kept up to date via message board, the whole team were very professional and even if a bit more expensive well worth it for a sale price substantially over valuation. Would not hesitate to recommend MFL.

To date McEwan Fraser booked me in for a phone appointment on the 16th march 2020 and they called me 40min before appointment to cancel. They then asked if they could re-book the appointment for the 19th march which I agreed. Guess what, nobody from McEwan Fraser contacted me on the time they had booked the appointment. I waited for an hour and decided to call them. I explained the situation and I was very unhappy. The gentleman who answered said the person who I was to speak to was on a call and she would call me back. Still waiting. With all the available methods of communication nowadays I would think someone at McEwan Fraser could at least let their clients know when a member of their legal team will be in contact with me. I will probably now instruct another solicitor to deal with the selling of my property. This is my first dealing with McEwan Fraser and it will be my last. So far they have been very incompetent. TBC.

I've just sold my flat in Edinburgh through McEwan Fraser Legal. I was stressed at the beginning because I'm based in China and the remote selling process seems to be worrying and uncertain, but in the end MFL did well and made it a lot easier. Sean Nicol and Kevin Conway gave me excellent and professional advice during the valuation and marketing stage. Also Magnus Moodie and Josephine Kosir, my solicitors, made the legal process very smooth and much less stressful and were extremely helpful from the beginning to the end. I used the solicitors at mcewan frazer as well as selling my house with the company. I would not recommend them as there were nothing but delays in the move, which the solicitor constantly shifted the blame and would change their story about why there was delay after delay. I was charged, interest on my mortgage per each day of delay and also charged for other delays associated with move. I have never been offered any compensation. I found my solicitor to have no empathy and very poor client care. I was left on final day of house move with another " the move is off again" to which I dug my heels in and stated that I was moving one way or another, where my solicitor was then able to get me into the my new home, which had been lying empty for months. It nearly cost me the sale of my old house which took me over a year to sell. The whole experience was one of the worst experiences of my life, which left me so distressed. I would not like to see anyone else affected like this, so would highly recommend going to another solicitor. They charge so much more than other companies and offer a poor service in return.

In short: avoid if you can. Had to double-check every single document related to my house purchase as McEwan Fraser Legal could not even get my last name right. No comfort or peace of mind at any time throughout the process. Picked up the keys to my new place from them in an envelope with my last name misspelled (this is genuine and after having had few conversations with them on the same). Lastly, their CEO showed me nothing but contempt and was literally offensive on raising this with him. Tried to pay me some money so i leave a positive review in the end. As said, avoid if you can.

Awful from beginning to end. I was completely conned by their agent who signed me up. She wasn’t at all transparent about their fees, and how much I would actually have to pay when I sold. They did nothing to aid my sale, I sold the property on Gumtree, most of my viewings came from Gumtree and Facebook adverts that I posted myself, only one was arranged through MFL. I caught their staff on more than one lie, and actually ended up talking to the buyer’s solicitor for advice because I had zero trust left in this firm. I paid extra for the part-exchange option, it’s a total waste of money! Don’t do it, in fact just don’t use this firm. Their communication throughout my sale was awful, with several unanswered emails that they “didn’t receive”. Does anyone believe that in 2019!? Use Purple Bricks or the agent who will charge you the least, MFL definitely don’t work hard or provide good service for their outrageous fees. As soon as they sign you up, you’re on your own.

We were first time buyers last December, and for putting in offers the staff assigned to us were fantastic. Then our offer was accepted and suddenly we were assigned the most incompetent person I have ever come across. For weeks on end we wouldn't hear from him despite sending emails and leaving voicemails as we had important questions to ask - to the point our mortgage advisor put a formal complaint in when they heard. The sellers of our house had offered to leave furnishings for us so we asked our solicitor to request certain items we would appreciate being left and let the sellers know others which we would not require. 2 weeks before we were to get the keys we asked for the third time - to be told he had forgotten. On speaking to the seller later we found out they and their solicitors had put over a dozen communications to mcewan fraser to advise what was happening with no reply. It turned out our solicitor finally responded the day before the seller had arranged uplift of everything. Then came the handing over of keys. Our solicitor was uncontactable to the point we went to the estate agent who advertised the house then to the sellers solicitor just to find out what was to happen. As a first time buyer it is difficult trying to keep up with everything that has to happen and mcewan fraser did not help whatsoever. These are just a couple of the issues we had with them. Finally, the seller had an extension built 18 years ago, but no certificate of completion so our solicitor advised us there would be a letter of comfort issued shortly after we moved in. 3 months after we moved in i asked again - to be told he'd chase it up. 6 months after we moved in I asked again - to be told he'd chase it up. We never heard from him again. Absolutely useless service yet charge a ton for work they're not doing. If you're a first time buyer - or even a buyer at any stage I wouldn't go near this company at all. What had been stress-free thanks to our mortgage advisor became an absolute nightmare entirely because of mcewan frasers solicitor's incompetence.

They sold the house they marketed for us which is why I haven't given them only one star. However the whole experience was pretty poor from start to finish. Emails (confidential) were sent to the wrong email addresses, the home report had errors in it (with MFL only saying as it wasnt them that did it they dont check it - yet they instructed the survey so this us a poor response). The online portal never worked for me and no one ever got back to me with regards fixing it. They promise the world to get you to sign up but then when then when offers are slow and low they just shrug their shoulders and say 'its market conditions. Nothing differentiates them from an average estate agency and yet their fees are very high. To top it all off they over charged us and this had to be pointed out before a refund was forthcoming. Poor and cannot justify their fees.

Unhelpful and a few hidden charges. We got fleaced by these wolves. Paid the extra to make part exchange available as was advised the house would get more offers, it was a waste of money, no one interested in buying asked about part exchange despite them saying it was popular. Also agreed anything over the asking price the agent would get 10% as they would be doing the work for that. They did f all to get the get that extra 10%, all the negotiations to get above the asking price were done by myself. When we complained, we were told, you have signed a contract. Stay away from them. This estate agents is the epitomy of why people do not trust estate agents and is why websites like purple bricks are doing so well and estate agents as a 'profession' will largely die out...and not soon enough! The word crooks comes to mind when I think about selling my first home with you because that's what is was like dealing with you.
