In 2023, the property team at McDougall McQueen performed an excellent job in selling my mum’s property. Special mention to Angela Laird, Caroline Scott and, in particular, Susan Oates who dealt expertly with the conveyancing. I would …

Leigh and Shannon were great, it was my first time buying a property and they were efficient and always quick to respond to my emails, and explained anything that wasn't clear to me. The cost breakdown was clear, so I knew what I was paying for exactly, and overall the process of putting in offers and then the legal process of buying my flat was much easier than I had anticipated thanks to them. When there was a small mistake with a cashback incentive from the bank they were quick to fix it. Overall I am very satisfied with their service.

Making good progress with selling my flat. Have dealt with Emilie Grigg who has been friendly, efficient and a credit to the firm.

Unfortunately our experience with McDougall McQueen was extremely poor. We purchased a property from them and they ignored our solicitor for weeks. Eventually, 2 days before we were due to settle, someone finally got back to our solicitor and we were told that the original paralegal who had been dealing with the case was on holiday and none of the relevant reports or paperwork had been completed. There were multiple issues of lack of communication resulting in them being unaware of a change in purchase price and also when we eventually got keys the property was still furnished even though our solicitor had stated to them that we wanted the furniture removed however like multiple other things they didn’t pass this information on to their client. If this is what they’re like when buying a property from them I couldn’t recommend using them to purchase.

Absolutely brilliant service from McDougall McQueen recently when I had to sell my Mum's house to fund her nursing home fees. All interactions with their team from my initial enquiry right through to after sale queries were dealt with in a very timely manner. The team were really supportive and helpful and very sympathetic to my situation as everything had to be done from a distance as I am not local. They went over and above to help facilitate things like lock changes, taking final meter readings etc. It was a really seamless, professional, friendly and supportive service - highly recommend. Thank you to all at McD & McQ but special thanks to Alasdair Matheson and Susan Oates who could not have been any more helpful, responsive and reassuring throughout the whole process!

Would highly recommend McDougall McQueen for selling our old house and buying our new home. We dealt with Sylvia for selling our property and Susan Oats dealt with the conveyancing side. Both were amazing. Susan was very thorough during the whole process which proved to be complex through other external factors. Susan was reassuring and contactable whenever we needed any clarification. We really valued being able to contact Susan and Sylvia with ease and always received a prompt response. This I believe from talking to others is not the case with other solicitors/firms. I would not hesitate to recommend McDougall McQueen and particularly the expertise of Sylvia and Susan. Any other member of staff that we dealt with were also excellent and very approachable.

I had the pleasure of working with Bobby and the team at McDougall McQueen for my property purchase. They were incredibly efficient, with excellent communication throughout the process, which ensured everything ran smoothly and remained stress-free. I will definitely be working with them again for future projects, I highly recommended them.

Have solicitors for minute of agreement for sale of house which is up for sale now
Have recently used this company for a minute agreement to be written up which I paid for £500 and then didn’t require anymore services but have further been charged £830 for which it didn’t ask for a separate minute agreement to re sent as there was one already sent to registers of Scotland for sell of house , to which ended up with rude staff members on the telephone and not very nice manners and definitely won’t be recommending this company again or using this company in future again .

I have engaged Mary now on many occasions, and as always I find her very easy to deal with and to the point. Always feel she has my interests in mind when carrying out work for me. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommended her and her firm and time .

We used McDougall McQueen to sell a property and would like to thank both Julia Scott and Shannon Ronaldson for all their support and assistance with this. Shannon had to deal with some unnecessary issues from the purchasing solicitors and she dealt with them promptly. We mainly dealt with Julia and Shannon and both were very friendly and helpful. Would have no hesitation in using McDougall McQueen again.

Excellent service from start to finish. I was kept continually updated via email and phone on the progress of my sale. My contact was Susan Oates and I cannot fault her professional and friendly manner and providing me with reassurance during a very stressful time. Costs were extremely competitive and I would have no hesitation recommending McDougall McQueen and Susan Oates to family and friends. Thank you.

Cannot recommend McDougall McQueen highly enough. From start to finish they were excellent - highly communicative and supportive throughout the entire sales process. Special mentions to Angela, Caroline and Susan who were consumate professionals throughout and left us feeling very well looked after during a complicated process - but the whole team was amazing. Thank you.

Purchased a house with M&M and I can hardly say I’m impressed with the attention to detail. Received my invoice and paid immediately in full on the day of purchase, apparently the cashier had claimed it was £35 short.. no apologies for sending the wrong invoice over and no new receipt of invoice for this alleged fee when I had paid the additional- a very minor display of incompetence compared to what happened next. I moved into my house and my solicitor Shannon had advised me I had 5 working days to notify her of anything not working that would be over £400 to repair, and reminded me to check the heating system, I did and it didn’t work. The property also contained a cellar, for which I did not receive the keys for. When I had notified Shannon of both of my issues I was told “there was no heating mentioned on the home report, therefore I would have to accept it due to it being sold as seen” and “I have asked the seller, she doesn’t have the keys” when I asked for a resolution I was then advised “I have checked the deeds and you do not own or have access to the cellar that is built in to the property” considering this was built in to the house I felt it would be relevant to ask who owned the cellar. The response then started to change to “if I would like access to the cellar I could force entry via a locksmiths and she could put it to the seller to see if they would pay if it was over £400” I’m just washing my hands with the situation now and putting it down to a bad decision to go to Mcdougal and McQueen for the house purchase, hopefully I’ll be able to one day access the cellar within my purchased home . I do not recommend this firm for property purchase.

I cannot recommend McDougall McQueen enough, especially Susan Oates during my recent home purchase. Her support and expertise are second to none - none of my concerns or questions were ever a problem.

We recently used McDougall McQueen for the sale of our property and the service provided was excellent. Susan was great throughout, providing regular updates and always available via email with prompt responses. We also used Sylvia for the estate agency side of things which was so efficient with a personal approach taken. Thanks very much.

I've been trying to arrange a house viewing with epoint for two weeks and nothing is happening, I have no response today. I tried to call to make a pointment for 5:00 p.m. today and, no one came, no one answered. This company is a terrible joke, stay away from it.

My wife and I are genuinely grateful for the wonderful service by the team in Bruntsfield and in the back office for the support, attention and responsiveness of our recent sale and purchase. Having worked with a good local agent before, we decided to choose Mary and her team due to the personal nature of service and follow up marketing that they give. Having been a property developer in the past, it was good to have someone with a third party point of view. The VistaBee video and photography obviously helped (!) but the advice on the sale and follow up meant we got a great offer and found our dream home. I would highly recommend the McDougall McQueen team, and especially the legal and property sales side, not forgetting the back end finance guys. 100% delighted with the service and the value was exceptional, simply it paid to use them!

We used this firm for our house purchase. The seller had some complicated circumstances relating to planning sign-off, and the solicitors dealt with it fantastically. We got regular updates and they spent a lot of time chasing the seller on our behalf and giving us a detailed breakdown of the state of play. Very efficient, professional, and easy to work with.

We would like to thank Susan Oates at McDougall McQueen for the fantastic conveyancing service she provided to us during our recent house sale. Her professionalism and communication skills were outstanding and she kept us informed fully at all times with developments. Highly recommended. Thanks Alan and Alison Owenson
