TrustpilotA lot of room for improvement
Quite a lot of things could have been improved in my experience of moving into a DJ Alexander flat.First of all, there was a major leak from the upstairs flat into ours, which the agency knew about and failed to mention, leaving me to find an overflowing bucket in the cupboard catching the leaking water. Secondly, the flat was not clean at all when we move in. Thirdly, the boiler didn't work for the first two weeks I was there. Fourthly, the keys I was given to the downstairs front and backdoors didn't work. Fifth, there's a few other minor/moderate issues with the flat itself (loose shower rail, leaking sink, stiff doors). Sixth, the online portal they insisted on me using to fill in the inventory and log all these issues didn't work, and when I informed them of this I didn't get any replies. I have rented from them before and they were mostly quite responsive and helpful (except for one time I asked them to have our flat's *only* toilet fixed whilst we were away for 7 days and they didn't). But my most recent experience has been certainly more negative than positive, which I think is especially disappointing given we are paying such high rent.

Tenants are treated badly, landlords are pandered to. DJA pressures landlords into raising rent, and plays innocent in the process. 'Customers' is strong word - tenants are not customers, unless you operating under a 'customer is always wrong' premise. I consider myself a zen, calm person yet somehow, dealing with real estate agents as a tenant elicits some kind of deep rage that I am yet to experience with any other sector. Perhaps non-coincidently, many people I know feel the same way. Hope you can find a way to remedy this one day.

TrustpilotCan't imagine renting with anyone else
Somehow, it took me until my 30s to rent directly via an agency. After all the horror stories, I'd been nervous, especially at a time when there's a rental shortage, but DJ put my mind totally at ease. Throughout my tenancy (a PRT two years and counting), they've been professional, easy to contact and very responsive. In addition, they've offered help with small issues in the flat and been very on top of liaising with the landlord for bigger ones. When my former flatmate and I were at loggerheads, they were incredibly objective, fair and professional, going above and beyond to help us resolve the matter without favouring one or the other. It doesn't hurt that they're friendly and easy to talk to, either. They don't make you feel like a number. If ever I leave this flat, I will absolutely look for a new place via DJ. I can't imagine going anywhere else when their people are consistently brilliant. A big thank you to all those who have been involved in my tenancy so far, with a special shout-out to Taylor, Giulia, Maisie, Dan, Martyna (no longer there but an absolute gem) and Mark in maintenance.

Renting process is much smoother with DJ Alexander once you get shortlisted by the landlords its the main reason why it stands out from other agencies in the mkt.

TrustpilotTheir online systems are super scammy
They have a tremendously flawed IT system in place. Since they manage everything via online platforms and not through direct communication, EVERY time (no joke) I have to interact with them I get so many spam emails. That only tells me that they're leaking info and not following through on GDPR safeguards. I would never ever ever sign up with DJA again.

I used DJAlexander for several years without much issue. Unfortunately, they have implemented a poorly designed IT system and given up on having individuals being responsible for different properties. I used to be able to speak directly with one person for anything that was needed to be done. They would then relay it to the relevant team. As far as I was concerned, that service is what I was paying for. More recently things changed and got to the point where I found it impossible to work with them. I was having to speak to a dozen different people over several months to get simple jobs (PAT Testing, EICR, GSI etc) completed. I cannot stress enough how bad things have gotten from a landlords point of view. I wasn't receiving messages from my tenants about issues that needed urgent attention until weeks after the issue arose. One tenant lived with a broken washing machine in her living room for nearly 18 months because DJA messed up the collection of it on several occasions.Basically, they are now pretty hopeless and I advise you steer clear!

I rented my property via DJ Alexander and then subsequently used them as the selling agent when it came time to sell on. The service from DJ Alexander through both processes was excellent and Catherine was fantastic and really helped to guide me through things.

Highly recommend DJ Alexander.I have to update and deduct a star since I was told that I could move in during a certain window and it turned out not to be the case, so I have to stay for two nights at a hotel.

DJ Alexander took over as the property company for my flat a couple of years ago and I was a little nervous as I didn’t know the company however they’ve been brilliant. The system for reporting any issues in the property has been a revelation it’s so easy to use and requests have been dealt with promptly except one occasion and when I called to ask what was happening I spoke with Natalie who was brilliant. She got someone out quickly to look at the issue reported and it was promptly fixed. I had another telephone exchange with her recently by chance about something unrelated and she was just so friendly but also professional and so knowledgeable about the reason for my call. I’d recommend them to anyone.

I did have contacted DJ Alexander 3 times. The first time I made an appointment for viewing another apartment on Sunday with confirmation. However, nobody did notify me in advance that the appointment should be cancelled due to that apartment was sold on that Friday already. I believe that it should be a basic manner to provide notification of cancellation to their client at once.For purchasing my current apartment, I did actually have sent a request for viewing it in December but no reply. I only receive the reply after having sent a second request in January. Also, the agent could not answer me where the bin room or the bike room. The agent could not confirm which parking space was the allocated parking space while viewing the apartment. I would expect the agent would be more professional to know more details of the apartment for informing their client(s).Finally, upon settlement of the purchase of my current apartment, I did have to go to the Agency to collect the keys of my apartment twice. I would expect the Agent should collect and pass all keys of my apartment once only.

Initially there were too many members of the Alexander team involved in recent work on a flat between lets, so much so that one job was unnecessarily duplicated. However, the work was subsequently overseen by Cassandra Hogg and this improved matters greatly. She went out of her way to keep us informed and she organised tasks efficiently
