My experience with Hall and Benson was heavenly. The entire process was seamless and very pleasant all thanks to Hayley Lunn. From the first viewing till the day I came to pick up the keys to the apartment she was nothing but friendly, patient and very professional. I have no doubt that I and my family are in safe hands thanks to her expertise. I’ll recommend Hall and Benson any day to anyone looking to rent or buy a property. Great job guys!!!

Recently rented via Hall and Benson Allestree, and found the whole process very smooth. I have previously been with with other letting agents who have left me unsure of what steps are next, and had dates changed multiple times regarding moving in, but everything at Hall and Benson was a lot more informative. We dealt with Hayley, who would be very helpful whenever we’d be ringing with silly little questions, and explained the whole process throughly. From the viewing to picking up the keys, we felt supported the whole time. She also helped us set up home insurance, the outsider company ‘Tilli’ was very useful to us, especially regarding gas and electric. Would definitely recommend, though hopefully next time it’d be to sales instead of lettings! 😊

I wouldn't have given a star if I could. A property manager in an office in Derby is not empathetic, does not represent the tenant's interests, and does everything the greedy landlord thinks up, not caring how it affects the tenant. Avoid the whole office if you can. By the way, the lady's name is Jodie Santo. There is no humanity, no decency, no desire to help. Humanly, it's a double zero. Never again with this agency. Nodding dog all.

Absolutely appalling experience with Hall and Benson Estate Agents. They allowed me to move into a property that was full of black mould and this was while I was heavily pregnant. No care, no concern for health or safety. It was completely uninhabitable, and they didn’t lift a finger to resolve it properly or even tell me how to retrieve my deposit. I had to chase them constantly even from the hospital just to get basic documentation like my tenancy agreement, which I had to ask for three times before they finally emailed it over. To make matters worse, the landlord agreed to refund my first month’s rent, but Hall and Benson have still not processed it, despite four separate phone calls and promises to sort it. They’ve also been zero help in retrieving my deposit considering I had to call up multiple times from a hospital bed, and their communication throughout has been absolutely disgraceful. Avoid this agency at all costs. Totally unprofessional and dismissive especially shameful considering the serious circumstances. They should not be allowed to manage properties if this is how they treat tenants.

The worst estate agency I’ve ever used

The worst estate agency I’ve ever had the displeasure of living under. They barely cleaned the house before we moved in (which they had promised to do), and had even used pictures to hide black mould. Furthermore, we had lots of maintenance issues early on that we had to learn to live with (for half a year) because, despite repeated reminders, they conveniently continually forgot to send people to fix the issues. Some issues they still haven’t resolved. The final nail in the coffin though is that when paying rent, they initially gave us references which were too long to enter: when we asked for real references, and used what they provided, they accused us all of failing to use the correct reference. In future rent payments, we tried everything possible to make sure we got the right reference, but it was never good enough for them. The last time, they insisted that because our references were “wrong” that we send them an additional rent payment, and threatened to escalate the situation, when they already had ALL of the money. Either they are the epitome of incompetent and disorganised, or they are a bunch of lazy liars.

Our experience from start to finish was exemplary and professional. We met Joe Blaney, one of Hall and Benson’s Lettings Valuers, who arrived on time and had all the information that we needed. He communicated, clearly and precisely and explained “everything” in detail, clarifying points that we raised. We left that meeting knowing that the letting of the property was in safe hands. Following that initial meeting, Joe dealt with all aspects of the letting and kept us informed throughout. He concluded the letting of the property, as it has started, speedily, professionally, with “nothing” being too much trouble for him, or the Lettings’ Team. In summary, Joe was friendly, easy to communicate with and always returned phone calls, texts, or emails, with the relevant answers, or replies, etc. I have no hesitation in recommending Hall and Benson.

If possible I would give minus stars! I rented a property for 4 years and initially I had no problem with them until the landlord wanted a 50% rent increase and I was issued with a section 21. From then on it was continuous calls and emails asking when I was leaving the property. Left me on the verge of a breakdown and had absolutely no compassion. 2 months on after leaving the property , in better condition than when I moved in, I'm still fighting for my deposit as they are claiming for everything under the sun. Daniel featherstone has been completely unprofessional throughout, ignoring emails and with a 'my bad' attitude ( his exact words) when I eventually managed to speak to him on the phone. Avoid this joke of a letting agents at all costs!

I was confronted with a bungalow that had not been worked on for over 30 years. Mark Benson visited and gave us sound ideas on valuation and renovation. After we chose to renovate Tracey visited and gave a sound valuation and we agreed to put the property on the market. I had some concerns about not choosing an agent physically close, but my fears were groundless and irrelevant. The property reached above the asking price within a week. Lisa took us through the visits through the premises, that were all escorted by their staff and then Helen was a great help in the negotiations after a tricky survey. We made an extra £25k profit as a result of Mark's advice and the whole experience gave us huge confidence in Hall and Benson, Allestree. The Allestree office made me and my partners first experience renting our first “non student” homes absolutely fabulous and virtually stress free, Jessica Farrelly was simply amazing and I would recommend her to anyone, she replied to my emails and my numerous calls! So quickly and always replied with the information I needed, she really helped us sort out our guarantor and helped ease their minds about the whole process too, she’s so wonderful and friendly and if we are to let or buy again we will definitely try and go through her. We have just sold our home with the Burton Branch - all I can say is Annie H is fantastic! From the start the communication and efficiency was 100%When the chain nearly fell apart for our purchase not only did Annie call and email everyone involved, but successfully managed to keep a firm communication with the top of the chain. Annie is empathetic and proactive - If you want to sell your home with confidence I’d definitely recommend NH but also suggest from our experience you ask for Annie to manage your sale!
