Overall pleased with the service throughout from Darlington smith & friends when selling my home. Stand out service was from Joy during sales progression, despite other delays she constantly kept me updated, chased all parties, was extremely responsive and approachable. Unfortunately communication wasn’t as great during a period of Joy being off however I couldn’t compliment the service from her more - made a stressful process much easier.

Right from my first visit to my local office (Ingleby Barwick) the staff at Smith and Friends were very welcoming and extremely helpful. My main contacts there are Mark, Chloe and Manj, and they have all exceeded my expectations on the many visits I've made there. This is even more meaningful when the house I was intending to buy (through their Marton office) fell through. Having not moved for the last sixteen years, they have guided me through the process of buying and selling houses (and even renting) with their expert knowledge (despite my barrage of questions!!) Great experience in buying our first home. We were tenants with them and the process was exactly how it is was described it would be. Check out of rented property was good and their mortgage adviser helped us with our purchase, Chris at HNW assisted with our legals and the sales staff were polite and always returned calls or emails even the most trivial things. Highly recommended.

We would highly recommend Smith and Friends. They were extremely proactive in order to achieve our sale and we were kept informed at all times. The marketing was excellent and their marketing on Rightmove really stands out from the crowd. The photographs were of excellent quality and the listing was clear and concise. Nothing was too much trouble. The excellent service also continued with Joy in sales progression who kept us up to date with everything and ensured our sale went through. We also purchased a property from them at the same time and this was handled extremely professionally also. We have used the Darlington office a number of times and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.

Smith and friends were the estate agents, and you had the house builder.
**UPDATE 30 April 2026** Hi Tommy, the gas engineer advises me that the boiler has been fixed and the vendor will be paying the invoice. We apologise for any inconvenience but as mentioned previously we are not gas engineers and there wouldn't be in a position to sign it off as your review states. With very best wishes. The Darlington office were simply superb. I sold a house previously and I trust them to do a great job - which they did. Louis Holmes branch manager was so helpful and supportive and Joy the sales progresser kept me informed every step of the way. The whole team are attentive, caring and efficient. I was really surprised to sell my mother's house so quickly despite the down turn. Thanks tk the team the whole experience wasn't stressful at all. Highly recommend.

The key handover was not really pleasant as I have to go to the office to collect it, the signboard *for sale* was not removed until few weeks after I moved in to the property. I still have to go back to collect other spare keys after 2weeks.I suggest hand over of key to a property should be a memorable experience for any client(s).
