Thorntons recently acted for us during the sale of a house in Dundee. From estate agency to completion of the conveyancing, we were very impressed with the professionalism, local knowledge, and kindness of all staff. We had dealings with two lawyers, due to one leaving the firm. The first lawyer, I’m under the impression pursued a different name to who they should’ve been chasing up, as there were two names on the insurance policy. So that caused an initial delay, even still she was very helpful at the time. When the second lawyer took over she has been very efficient, great at communicating with us, seems to be really clued up on our case which is especially excellent due to her taking over from first lawyer. No complaints, other than the initial slow start but now the ball is rolling and we are very satisfied.

I broke my finger going into pay for my diesel at the petrol station the floor was wet and had no signage up.I wrote to the company but got no reply. I wrote again and handed it in myself,I was not happy with the letter they wrote me. I was on my computer checking my emails when i saw a email from Thorntons Solicitors about personal injury claims. I filled up the form and they phoned me for the information. they were very quick and efficient at dealing with my claim.They kept me up to date with everything they did and I was happy with the result. I would certainly recommend them.

Quick, effective , polite and professional. As a first time buyer I was left in unfamiliar territory but the solicitor who dealt with me was there to guide me with any information I requested or required from proposal to signing the deed. Very pleased that Thorntons was able to get us in before xmas in such short notice during covid-19 Restrictions so that we could be settled for the holidays. I will be using Thorntons in the future and will recommend to friends and family.

I was involved in a R T A back in April 2019. I contacted Thornton's regarding my accident and was dealt with by Shaista Ali ( Paralegal ).I had to see various specialists and this was all arranged by Shaista with no problems, and times that agreed with my work schedule. I also had to undergo dental treatment and I kept Shaista informed of all dental work carried out by my own dentist. Then we had the corona crisis which set my case back several months, but the case is now concluded I am more the happy with out come.Well done all at Thornton's.Graeme Thompson

Zoe at Thorntons Dundee handled the conveyancing for our first house, and did a really good job. I didn't really know what I was doing (still don't), but she was extremely helpful all the way through the process, going out of her way to explain what was happening and ensuring the process went smoothly. Initial contact with Thorntons to completion yesterday took a little under 7 weeks, and was almost completely pain-free. Strong recommend from me!

Was immediately put at ease during my initial contact; whereas other firms I’d approached felt a little pushy and seemed more focused on securing my custom, Thorntons were more about explaining their how their service met my needs without the hard sell. Prompt, personable and efficient service throughout and every step explained in layman’s terms so that I better understood what was in front of me. Rona provided clear and concise inforaiton in the process of selling a house (first time in Scotland) and was informative and responsive to any queries that I posed. Nothing seemed too much bother and I was kept well informed of the process, time line, activities of the other party and my own timeline.I would not hesitate to recommend Thorntons Solicitors, they may not be the cheapest, but the service provided was worth every penny I paid.Special thanks for Rona for answering all of my questions, some of which may have been basic! The whole process of fulfilling the legal and statutory regulations relating to the sale of my house was efficient and very well managed. I always felt that I was in very safe and competent hands and the regular communication via email and phone calls was much appreciated. I have used Thorntons for both the buying and selling of a house and the high standard of service and support has been consistent both times.On a constructive note, for those of us who are more used to conveyancing in England, I feel it would have been very helpful to have received a general overview of the Scottish process of buying/selling a house. This could have included a list of the Scottish legal terms and phrases with reference to the equivalent in the English legal system for conveyancing. An A4 sheet with a very general summary would have been very helpful. For example - 'Notes of interest', 'formal acceptance of an offer', 'missive' and 'concluding missive'.....Having said that, I was more than satisfied with the experience of having Thorntons represent me throughout the sale process.
