We recently moved home from England to Scotland and Thorntons handled the purchase of our Scottish property.The service provided by Graham Taylor and his colleagues was first class in every respect. We were kept informed throughout the process and given clear and helpful advice at every stage.Graham and his team were accessible at all times and his calm and professional demeanour was very comforting in what could have been a very stressful experience for us.In the event the whole process went through without a hitch and we are now happily installed in our new home.I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Graham and Thorntons.

We had an excellent experience with Alex and her colleagues from Thornton solicitors. They handled the sale of our Welsh property and the purchase of our Scottish property which meant dealing with two different legal systems. We were kept informed throughout and we really appreciated the prompt replies to our queries. On the few occasions where Alex was on leave, we were well looked after in her absence by her other colleagues. Despite a very long selling process due to the other parties in the chain we were extremely happy with our experience with Thorntons and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

The services initially from Rona and then Katherine has been exceptional, as an Englishman purchasing a property in Scotland for the first time, not fully understanding the laws and differences between the English and Scottish systems, the team at Thorntons guided us through the whole process and advised where needed. A truly professional outfit and would happily recommend Thorntons if anyone needs a solicitor to purchase property in Scotland, we will use Thorntons again without thought.

Chose Thorntons to progress a house purchase. As first time buyers the great reviews online for Thornton's were attractive and the process was seamless from start to completion. Fiona in Dundee kept us up to date at all stages of the process and guided us through legal jargon and back and forth between buyers and sellers in a clear and understandable manner making us at ease throughout what can be a daunting process. I have had a professional relationship with Hazel Macgillvary (Inverness branch) for over 6-7 years and followed her over the years selling 3 properties and buying 3 with her. When she moved to Thorntons I knew from experience she would continue to provide a professional, honest, open advice at affordable prices. It’s so hard to find someone that works in a timely manner whilst upholding an extremely professional manner. If there is a flaw to be found in a transaction she is going to find it!!!! She is upfront and honest about the whole transaction and even offered support when things went wrong. Hazel is very transparent and will keep you informed all the way from start to finish. Hazel is worth every penny in my eyes and would/have recommended her to many. I Have had dealings with other members of Thornton Law too and found them all to be open, professional and informative. 100% recommend them.

I used Thorntons for the sale of my house and had a really easy and great experience. The estate agents were super organised and great communicators throughout the process, giving good advice about market conditions as well. And Ellen, the sales solicitor, was absolutely fabulous - she helped me understand the more nuanced legal terms and agreements, and she even went out of her way to bring me paperwork that needed to be notarized as I was having mobility issues in late-stage pregnancy. She was extremely kind and caring, and I felt in really great hands with Thorntons. It's the second time I've used them, and would continue to highly recommend them.

I purchased a property and Helen Donnelly was my solicitor. She was so thorough, discovering some issues with the property and saving me a lot of heartache by getting it all resolved in a very timely manner.She always had time to answer my questions and explain things to me and took a lot of stress off my shoulders. She was quick to respond and process everything that needed doing. I highly recommend approaching her for assistance with purchasing property. This is the fourth time I’ve used Thorntons for something that has required legal assistance so I think that speaks volumes for the company and how trustworthy and good they are. I’ve always felt like a valued client and feel so reassured that I can turn to them for any assistance I require.

I strongly recommend avoiding this solicitor. The service was absolutely terrible, and in my experience, they did not demonstrate a proper understanding of the matter. Their communication was also extremely poor, and I found their written English unacceptable for someone working as a professional solicitor.
