TrustpilotHopeless Automatic Valuation
Yesterday I looked up the Zoopla automatic valuation for my home. The figure was hopelessly low.We live in a big old Victorian semi. The other half of our semi is essentially identical to our house. However, the automatic estimate for the other half is £577k (it sold in 2016 for £430k), whereas ours is only £323k, 44% less. This gives a very unhelpful first impression to a potential buyer, who may assume immediately that a house is over-priced without going to the cost and trouble of a surveyor’s valuation. The Zoopla figure will cause us significant difficulties when we come to sell the house. However, there seems to be no way of appealing against it. This is extremely unfair. After posting this review Zoopla contacted me. They wouldn't review the estimate or the faulty background data that led to it. The most they agreed to do is to remove the estimate figure. This isn't a good response because it doesn't tackle the underlying cause of the problem - faulty data or a faulty algorithm. They must be giving out a lot of other poor-quality information that many house-owners have never noticed.

Hi Tony, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand that a lowered estimate was displayed for your property, so in order to resolve this issue we have removed it from your property, to avoid a price you see as unfit .We can confirm that the removal is a temporary solution until the model deems new data reliable enough to give a higher confidence estimate, however, due to the model's automation, we cannot generate estimates for specific properties.Data might be available for your property that has not been processed yet which means a more accurate estimate will take time. When new data gets fed into the AVM, if that data relates to your property it will be reflected on our website with a price estimate. If there's anything else we can do to help you with, be sure to visit our Help Centre where you may find many useful articles as well as a designated section for property seekers:https://help.zoopla.co.uk/Many thanks,Zoopla Support

TrustpilotInaccurate valuation
I bought a house as a rental in December 2018 for £158k. It has been renovated and extended via a £35k spend. The Zoopla estimate says £140k to £180k - I asked a local estate agent for a valuation which came in at £220k. I have sent this to Zoopla and asked them to revise their estimate, but they have refused to do this, saying their system of estimating is accurate! This has now prevented me remortgaging the property for it’s true value given mortgage values will not visit the property. I have escalated it with Zoopla but they have not responded.

Hi Dom,Many thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're really sorry to hear you feel this way about our valuation model. The accuracy of Zoopla estimates is influenced by a number of factors such as the current market values of homes, the quality of the information available on the given property and the availability of comparable properties in the area. This means that unique properties or those where the housing market is slower, may experience less accurate estimates due to which discrepancies in values are not unusual. Our aim is to provide the most accurate estimates. It’s important to remember that the type, age and size of homes varies widely across the UK and this, coupled with the liquidity of homes in any local market, impacts the ability of any Automated Valuation Model to deliver an accurate valuation. We would like to discuss your property details further with you and we will now message you privately for more information. Many thanks,Zoopla Support

You keep properties on here way after they are taken! Absolute waste of time and effort ringing up and chasing up emails all the time because no one gets back to us to find the properties went upto a month prior. Need to get a grip of the letting agents and stop allowing them to waste peoples time in order to look busy when they aren't. I mean, busy ignoring phone calls and emails of course, but not with houses.

TrustpilotFind a New Home Soonest
Zoopla suits me as a platform to finding the perfect property. I’ve found so many hidden gems just by looking on Zoopla that I would not otherwise have known were for Sale. The housing market has changed a lot in recent years and it’s not important to advertise using a board planted in the garden anymore nor is it necessary to employ an Agent from the high street. Zoopla fulfils a gap that was open by showing a much broader selection of homes and many are unusual so get snapped up quickly. I always go to Zoopla first when I’m looking at properties as theirs is the most comprehensive selection to choose from.

I feel like I am wasting my time to find a property to rent and don't always get any response from the agent or the landlord. I am very serious about moving back home to Manchester to be near my poorly father. I also have mental health problems and have heart disease. I am on Universal Credit and feel that I am being discriminated against it. I am here in Wilmslow on my own no family or friends and the loneliness is unbearable and also been harassed by a neighbour. I am worried about my welfare and state of mind so I am trying so very hard to move. The sooner the better for my own sanity. I have not got any problem with the Zoopla site.

Absolutely awful service. I called up 4 times to try and arrange a viewing for a property but never heard anything back even after promising they would. If I was a landlord using them I would change agencies immediately, they have people desperate to view their properties but they end up staying on the market for ages because they can’t do their job properly. I was desperate for a house as the tenancy where I was currently was ending soon and was almost made homeless because of their incompetence.

Hi,Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We’re sorry to say we cannot manually change the information (property type, tenure & room numbers) we show about any property at the moment. We are in the process updating our House prices section including improving our property attributes data to a more accurate model. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to manually add, edit or remove any property attributes and changes will only happen when we receive additional data from our verified sources such as HM Land Registry and/or Registers of Scotland, RICS Certified surveyors data (subject to the availability), live 'For sale' listings on Zoopla and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).We're exploring the best ways to improve our data accuracy using automated systems. That way, you won't need to tell us if we've got something wrong. Look it up. I’m medically retired now. But I pay rent and on time and would never want , not that it’s my fault but to be stuck without family or friends to turn to and for 15 years I’ve rented and had a pat or two and never been any issues with rent or being on housing benefits so stop judging and start offering please as think of me in this shelter with no one loneliness and no pets to love and be loved and have my family again my animals and me. TrustpilotA good Website. Could it be even better.?
I enjoy using Zoopla usually for a casual look, occasionally for a potentially serious enquiry. What’s missing [ or have I missed it ? ] is some narrow search facility eg. I’m looking for a Bungalow in, say, Newquay. Looking for one with ( for example ) a Sea View. I’d very much like to be able to imput that information into a search engine. It’s availability would save a lot of time & shouldn’t be impossible to achieve in this day & age. When it’s achieved 5* definitely. PRB.

It would be great if there was an option to score estate agents that don't reply 6 haven't so far. Lastly I search with don't show shared even filter -shared and still I have to look through pages of shared properties. If they don't list as shared then remove them or fix your search. Quite efficient site. Most of the time I directly call to inquire because it's either takes too long to get a responce through email inquires or no response at all. And sometimes the email bounces back too. Also, alot of the properties I inquired were gone or not available anymore but that was not updated on the website. Pictures of properties were not updated too. For example you'll see online pictures of the property when it was last renovated and not in the condition that it's now in with current tenants. Which can be deceiving and disappointing.

TrustpilotGreat service and very useful tool for home search.
I think it’s a brilliant site in one space can view various options for different properties. Easy to filter through options for rent, new homes and sale homes. It also sends out an email once an interest has been registered which helps to keep track of the properties viewed and helps in organising dates. Also gives information on the running costs if interested to purchase which is quite handy. The online downside is it doesn’t give an option view the different frames or quick views of the uploaded pictures till it’s opened on full size which is available on Rightmove. Would be easier and saves time having this option.

TrustpilotThe whole concept of property portals…
The whole concept of property portals needs a rethink. If you're looking for a simple requirement, they probably work well enough, but if you have very specific requirements, they don't have enough reliable granularity to be useful.Specifically, we're looking for property with about an acre of land, and we're willing to cover a large geographic area. That's very difficult to filter (on any portal), mainly because there appears to be little control over the detail that agents are required to offer - using a keyword like "acre" works for some entries, but misses others where the agent refers to "land". One potential solution is to add operands to the use of keywords, so setting up filters for " acre or land" would find a wider range of properties. It would also be helpful to have a wider geographic area - up to 70 miles, rather than 40

TrustpilotEverything has been deleted
The last time I logged on, all the details I had previously entered for my property had been removed , including the valuation . I then tried to input it again, however I was prevented from doing so by the website. This is very disappointing, given the hours I have spend uploading all of my info and the details of the work and expenditures I had updated over the years. It would not allow me to claim my property as the owner.

Hi Rob,Thanks for your review and we're really sorry to hear about your bad experience. To maintain the accuracy and integrity of our improved Automated Valuation Model (AVM) it is no longer possible to refine or change house price estimates manually. Thus, the ‘refine this estimate’ feature has been permanently removed from our site. Renovations will take time to be recognised by the Automated Valuation Model.Nevertheless, we would like to look into this further for you and we will now contact you directly regarding this matter. Many thanks,Zoopla Support

TrustpilotThe Zoopla website is excellent for…
The Zoopla website is excellent for checking on house prices in selected areas with the advantage of also seeing sold property estate agent details such as sold date & price, photos etc. Certainly saves trawling through Rightmove searches.Zoopla also provide useful articles and tips on buying, selling, renting. The only criticism is that the estimated house prices do seem to be a bit on the "light" side and are not updated very often. Also trend reports by RICS as well as estate agents would be welcome.

Hi Mike,Thank you so much for leaving us a 4 star review. It is great to hear that you are pleased with our site this much and we hope we will continue to help you with all things property related. Make sure you visit our Discover section for more information, articles and additional guidance:https://www.zoopla.co.uk/discover/We also appreciate your suggestion and feedback on our Automated Valuation Model. The accuracy of Zoopla estimates is influenced by a number of factors such as the current market values of homes, the quality of the information available on the given property and the availability of comparable properties in the area. This means that unique properties or those where the housing market is slower, may experience less accurate estimates. Renovations will take time to be recognised by the model. It is important to remember that our Zoopla estimates are intended to be used as a useful starting point for researching the value of your home and are not the same as an agent valuation. If you have recently refurbished your property by making material changes to its size or configuration, we suggest speaking to one of our estate agents who will inspect your home and take into account its unique features. Please follow the link below to request an appraisal:https://www.zoopla.co.uk/valuation/Should you require any further help from us, be sure you visit our Help Centre:https://help.zoopla.co.uk/Many thanks,Zoopla Support
