This is the worst agent, avoid them at all costs. They are a complete shambles, they charge through the nose, and really haven't got a clue.

VERY poor service

I have a buy to let property in Barking bought from and managed by the local Bairstow Eves office. I'm VERY unhappy with the service I receive from them. I pay a monthly service charge and yet get no service.Every month, the rent paid to Countrywide by Housing Benefit on my tenant's behalf goes astray. Every month it takes weeks of emails to trace the money despite my tenant sending a reference number. Housing Benefit have invited Countrwide to sign up to the landlord's portal so they know exactly when the rent is being paid. I have no idea whether Countrywide have signed up because neither they nor the Barking office respond to my emails. The January rent has not yet been paid to me. This is causing problems with mortgage payments, service charges etc. I'm certain my tenant is not the only person in receipt of Housing Benefit that Countrywide deal with and yet they seem to have no system for dealing with what is after all public money.When I tried to submit this on your feedback form, this is what I gotWe're sorry, but something went wrong.If you are the application owner check the logs for more information.

Absolute worst estate agents

Absolute worst estate agents! Took our 6 months rent upfront told us we could move into the property only to be told 5 hours after we were due to get the keys that we weren’t allowed to have the property after all! We had paid for removals and were literally sitting outside the house only to be mucked about for the entire day. Very disappointing and if we could give them zero stars we would!

I was constantly surprised by the tremendous cooperation and support that I received from the staff at Bairstowe Eves from the moment that I made an offer on the house I subsequently bought. I must single out Alex for special praise, always available on the phone, always imaginative and helpful, especially patiently standing by - and offering suggestions- as we spent 45 mins measuring the rooms for our rather large furniture. She is a star! But her colleagues all played their part, Ian, Richard, Ashley, all good. I felt every step of the way that they had their eye on the ball. I would recommend these agents highly.

Avoid at all costs.

Dishonest, incompetent, the last 18 months have been infuriating stressful and costly, systemic failures in their property management team, did not manage the property licensing process, Help2 Rent tenant, let the H2R rent guarantee expire, so no rent cover and tenant in significant arrears, a personal data breach, lost keys, among a litany of failures. Avoid this company at all costs look around do t be fooled by the size of this company, it’s size dwarfs its ability to manage a single property with competence or integrity.

Purchasing a property

While in the process of purchasing a property i had my mortgage adviser and solicitor, but the agent pressured me into using their services by stating multiple times on the phone the seller would rather the buyer use their services. After the third time i was pressured into saying yes because in all the telephone conversations i was not getting anywhere until I said yes.The mistake I made was having all this conversation in a telephone conversation instead of emails. Their complaint department just threw the case under the bus because I had no evidence and their telephone conversations were not recorded.I avoid this company and their services.

I have been renting the property with Countrywide for almost 10 years, and I must express that the level of services I have always received from the team is exceptional. I started renting back in 2008 and my direct contact point was Stephen Christopher who always acknowledged/tried to resolve any issues I reported straight away. Recently I have been in contact with Nadine Watson who has also provided me the excellent services, especially during the time property required some major refurbs, where she managed the communication levels between the landlord and us all updated/ kept us informed and made this transition of construction works less inconvenient. Terrible service from this agent right from the beginning. Informed my property would sell quickly but after 5 weeks and an unimpressive amount of views, calls from the agent stopped after a viewing on a Saturday and coincidentally after I complained to the branch manager about the lack of speed in the sale process. Manager then had one of the sales personnel call me to apologise and then all of a sudden, more viewings appeared out of nowhere. I ditched them that day and appointed a new agent I quickly changed agent as I was incredibly disappointed with the service received from this so called large chain agent. Amateurs in my opinion. If you want to sell, use an agent who is honest with you.

YOUR DETAILS ARE NOT SECURE! My partner and I wanted to move into a beautiful flat that Bairstow Eves had found us. After agreeing all terms including the one that let our cat into the property after being told that it was not possible, I gave my card details over the phone to pay the holding deposit. I waited over night and the money had not left the account on the following morning. I called and asked what the problem was only to be told that the details were in a draw and the flat wasn't available. He was not aware of the difference between free hold and lease hold properties so after all, we were not allowed a cat - leaving us with no place to live after agreeing to move in within 10 days. Instead of calling me straight away, or instead of lying to me and his manager avoiding my calls, they decided to just pop my card details in an unsecured drawer in the office. Not only was I lied to and let down by this agent on numerous occasions, our finances were put at risk by their incapacity to treat every customer with respect and have the right procedures in place. Do not use this agent. You are at risk if you do.
