Another great marketing and sales experience from the team at JW Wood. My mother has used them over the years and they have always been excellent. They seem to have a better pool of buyers and the house was sold in a couple of weeks which was amazing. There is a downside, we used their conveyancing services which were terrible and very stressful to deal with. They were so slow that we ended up being stung for SDLT, communication was none existent too. I had to source seperate independent additional legal advice which cost us as they were getting things wrong with one thing and another. They're not directly part of JW Wood and therefore the above is not a reflection on JW Wood whose aftersales team were as frustrated as we were. A big thank you to Kelly in JW Wood aftersales for helping us sort out the conveyancers, you were superb! Thank you. So a massive thank you to Geoff, Sarah, Julie and team JW Wood. We're in our new property, mother is safer for it and we are very very happy because of all your help. I wouldn't use anybody else because JW Wood have always delivered a fantastic five star service. TrustpilotRigid Viewing Hours and an Unwillingness to Accommodate
When initially attempting to make a viewing with J W Wood we tried to book in for after 5pm to view a property as I work a 9-5 and would be unable to make my way over sooner as we live and work out of the area. The solution offered for this was to come with my partner for a viewing on the weekend. This, unfortunately, wasn’t a possibility for us as my partner works in hospitality and very rarely is able to do anything on a weekend due to work commitments. On the Friday his work commitments changed and he had availability on the Sunday so we called up immediately to see if it was possible to book a viewing on this day as we had previously been told there was weekend availability to be told they also do not offer viewings on a Sunday and the only way for us to view this property would be to book holidays in at work or to come separately for viewings which is beyond ideal! We have recently been burnt by having to go for separate viewings and an offer being accepted on a property in the meantime so this is not how we wish to move forward. There was no attempt to discuss with management if there was a possibility for any flexibility and the communication regarding weekend availability was abysmal and has left us with a sour taste in our mouth. Why make a process already as stressful as buying a property even more so by having to rearrange our working lives? Very unhappy with the low level of customer service provided.

GoogleNot one bad word to say about JW Wood Consett office! Julie & Denise have been absolutely amazing through the viewings to the offer on our dream house! I must admit I called the office multiple times a day which some estate agents have been a little let’s say ‘tired of’ yet not once were the lady’s there rude, tired or annoyed at my voice down the phone! From call backs, arranging viewings, relaying offers and then sending all documents for the acceptance to purchase has all been so easy and smooth sailing!

GoogleWe have recently listed our home for sale and we had Joe from Consett branch come and do the evaluation and then to take the photos of the property, he was very friendly, made everything so easy, and we have now sold our home after one viewing and it being on the market less than a week! Lovely young man!

The house I was purchasing was in an area where other houses was going cheaper but they hiked the price up with structural issues like severe damp throughout the home,water leaks from chimney breast and crumbling walls all hidden behind wall paper but despite this the asking price was higher than other selling homes similar and had the nerve to agree to me going half on repairs accepted my offer but even then the offer I made was still higher than what the other homes in the area was asking for with lots of work need doing I felt this was wrong in the end the seller refused to lower the price I withdrew due to this issue plus her solicitor didn't answer all the questions from enquiries plus the seller appeared rude when ask a question regarding the property which didn't have insurance and it wasn't registered I felt it was not worth the money even my offer it was overpriced I felt I couldn't trust this estate agent to be honest again in the future I was glad I withdrew my offer as this wouldn't have been a good investment they remarked it for some other gullible person to buy at the same hiked up price if you want to sell a home pricey at least repair it and refurbish it that to me will justify the price hike but to hike up the price more than other homes in the area and leave it in such a state of disrepair is completely taking the biscuit also it's good to note the other homes going as much as £10,000 cheaper was in much better repair I couldn't make this up if I tried it's unbelievable.

Disappointing experience. Took time off work to attend a viewing, only to have the agent discuss a live offer with the seller in front of me during the appointment. It made for a really awkward and unprofessional situation. While they later acknowledged it could have been handled differently, they ultimately stood by their actions. Needless to say, I wouldn’t feel confident trusting them to handle a sale or purchase. Basic discretion during viewings shouldn’t be too much to expect.
