TrustpilotAppalling customer service with zero…
Appalling customer service with zero moral compass. We bought a house that was being advertised by Farrell Heyworth. Firstly they wouldn't let us even view their online video until ours was sold, yet when I called up again another day I was allowed to view the house in person. It seems the rules depend on which person happens to answer the phone. We had our offer accepted on the house; it immediately changed to sold stc on Rightmove. Approx 8 weeks into proceedings, after thousands of pounds in solicitors fees down, we think we're just waiting on a move date and have begun packing. I by coincidence go to look at it on Rightmove and it's back on the market again. I call to find out what's going on and after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing I'm told the vendor decided it was taking too long and told them to resell it. Farrell Heyworth didn't even have the decency to let us know this; we'd have been oblivious if we hadn't seen it ourselves. They claim they called, but we had no missed call and no voicemail. Our solicitor was equally as oblivious. So we were stressed out of our minds, frantically trying to hurry everything along at their insistence (bearing in mind the average sale takes 12 weeks and we were only 8 weeks in, with Christmas in the middle) while they think it's acceptable to still show people round and consider offers elsewhere. They continued to advertise it as available even though our solicitor gave assurances everything was going ahead and still even after we had agreed on an exchanged date. We had even accepted a lower offer on our own house to make it move as fast as possible to meet their ridiculous demand to exchange quickly. Whenever you call them for an update whoever you speak to doesn't know what's going on. Every single promise of a call-back never happens. Fast forward a few weeks and we've all agreed an exchange date. We've booked in a removal company, packed our entire house up.... Only to get a phone call from Farrell Heyworth 12 hours before the exchange to say they've just discovered that the vendor doesn't legally own the property. The property we're due to exchange on and move into the following day. They tried to imply the vendors solicitor was at fault (and I'm sure they were too), but how has Farrell Heyworth got this far into a sale when they *clearly* haven't adequately checked ownership?! It absolutely beggar's belief. So we had to pack all our belongings into the removal vans, and sit in an empty house until 4pm on the exchange day just hoping it would get sorted (which thanks to our solicitors, it did by the skin of the teeth). Over a month after the sale and guess what? Farrell Heyworth are STILL advertising the house. The house that we are the legal owner of. I've called them twice to ask them to remove it and yet it's still on Rightmove listed as available, with excuses that "Rightmove mustn't have caught up yet". A month later? Sure.... I would avoid this company like the plague.

TrustpilotDreadful service
We appointed Farrel Heyworth as lettings agent for our rental property, paying for their full management package. It was a huge mistake and one we wouldn't want anyone else to make. Having convinced us to let one of their employees take the rental, vouching for their character, Farrel Heyworth subsequently conducted no periodic inspections during the tenancy. When the tenant left the property it was in a very poor condition needing over £1500 of works to put it back in to rentable order, a fact confirmed by Farrel Heyworth themselves. We therefore tried to retain the tenants deposit, however owing to the lies of the tenant and Farrel Heyworth's failure to have either a proper inventory or to act diligently in dealing with the case, the tenant retrieved the bulk of the deposit leaving us out of pocket by over £1000. Farrel Heyworth know we are in the right and their employee has acted entirely improperly, but they will do nothing about it. In brief, they don't care and on our experience they are simply not fit to operate as lettings agents.

TrustpilotNot allowed to view a property
Rang up this morning to arrange a viewing of a property only to be told that we can't until we have either a sale agreed on ours or cash in the bank.To put this in context, the house we live in now was our third choice but as we couldn't view the first 2 as they were for sale with this agent, we ended up here.We are in the lucky position that where we live, houses sell within days and due to bereavement, we won't need a mortgage but it seems that this just isn't good enough.I seriously wonder how they are still in business and do the vendors know how many viewings they don't get? It's not like we were messing around, we need to move into a bungalow as I'm disabled and even have the boxes to pack our things!

TrustpilotTotally ignored
Phoned up the Preston branch to book a viewing of a property I’m interested in buying and they didn’t get back to me. TWICE. So I decided to go round to the house to tell the seller that they should probably use a different estate agent. The lady actually told me that she hadn’t been told at all. I’m sure they’ll blame it on being busy, but if any potential sellers are reading this then I would advise you to use a more competent agency.

TrustpilotI would give no stars if possible
I would give no stars if possible. I would not buy or sell through farrell heyworth ever again. I sold a property through the Cleveleys branch and it's been a terrible experience. I know some of it wasn't their fault as such but communication was shockingly bad. Even dealing with the branch manager for me absolutely no where. An empty house that had no chain and an investment buyer took 6 months. Their fees are also way over what other estate agents charge and so I expected much better service. Avoid, avoid , avoid!

TrustpilotDirector replied 4 months after my complaint
Got a reply from a Director, Jeremy Collins, almost 4 months after my Trustpilot review, he obviously could not give a damn and doesn't know how to handle dissatisfied customers. He has not not addressed or replied to my complaint. Still didn't offer a viewing on the half million pound property I enquired about that is STILL up for sale. Just HILARIOUS. Definitely , the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They have a" couldn't care less" very arrogant attitude. 96% of customers are dissatisfied with the way their enquiry was handled. Staff lie, lie and lie again!!!! Just unbelievable.

TrustpilotUtterly useless agent
Utterly useless agent as other reviews attest. Demanding proof of funds even to arrange a viewing - it's like they don't even want to sell their poor client's properties! When they're not doing that, they're ignoring enquiries entirely. Why anyone would use them I have no idea. Avoid like the plague.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you were somewhat disappointed in the experience. Customer service is extremely important to us and we always strive to operate with the safety of our customers at heart. I think it's valuable to outline what our procedures with regard to viewings are, and why we are continuing with these procedures when many agents seem to have returned to pre-Covid operating practices. Our process is as follows:All initial enquiries to view are provided with a virtual video tour which is received within minutes of the request. The virtual viewing is followed up and feedback obtained, this is extremely valuable to the owner of the property. If somebody wishes to then book a physical viewing we will ascertain if they are ready to proceed. A Mortgage agreement or financial qualification is then required to put the buyer in the best possible position to offer, along with acting solicitor details. The viewing can then be arranged. Unfortunately, we still receive many requests to view properties from individuals who have no intention of buying said property. To keep our staff and customers safe we have chosen to continue with a process that will allow us to limit the amount of people that physically view to just genuine buyers. If the person viewing the property wishes to make an offer we would require a proof of funds at this stage in any event.Kind regards,Jeremy Collins, Director

TrustpilotDo not do business with this company, unprofessional and immoral. STAY CLEAR!
Farrell Heyworth did not take my complaint seriously, refused to take responsibility for making me homeless, even though it was directly their fault! This company is dishonest and misleads people, please do not waste your time or risk your futures by dealing with this company in any possible way as a tenant or a landlord. STAY CLEAR!Farrell Heyworth refused to send a tenancy agreement, fobbing me off and advising they were awaiting documentation from the landlord. They emailed me to confirm a move in date and assured me to not worry about the tenancy agreement saying that the move in date was set and the tenancy agreement is usually signed a day before the move in date. In the same email I was advised to end my current tenancy so I could move into their property. Two days before move in date, I was advised the property was unfit for habitation. This is an understatement as I received pictures of the property showing the extensive mold, waste and rubbish, blocked toilets, and general disrepair and unhygienic condition throughout the entire 5 bedroom property. Farrell Heyworth new about the state of the property much longer before they advised me about it, and knowingly advertised the property with misleading pictures on their website. The current tenants had apparently refused to move out in time. Farrell Heyworth new that the tenants were still in the property past their tenancy end date at the time they confirmed to me everything was ok and encouraged me to end my own tenancy. Not once did they inform me of the problems with the property or tenants, leading me to believe at every turn, everything was ok and on course for my move in date.As I had already handed in my current tenancy, and the Farrell Heyworth property was no longer fit to move into. I was made homeless, and have had to put my belongings in storage. And if that whole experience was not bad enough.... my complaint about it was not taken seriously. Not once was my complaint escalated to a manager, or a complaints team. It was dismissed entirely, and they refused to acknowledge or grasp the seriousness of the situation they put me in. I can not stress this enough....DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, ALL OF THEIR ADVERTISMENTS WILL BE FALSE AND MISLEADING, THEY DO NOT TAKE COMPLAINTS SERIOUSLY AND HAVE NO MORALS. THEY WILL LET YOU BECOME HOMLESS AND NOT EVEN APOLOGISE FOR IT. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

GoogleI had a family member use them last year and they had a poor experience, throughout their contact. I ignored their experience, as we are all different and it is a year on. I have now had four separate contacts with them where they have failed to be professional, attend appointments. Their attitude and ability to return calls is truly poor. Every other agent I have been in contact with is polite, organised and professional. I will not be using them for the sale of my propertiesNegativeQuality

GoogleI recently purchased a property from Farrell and Heyworth and my first point of contact was a Dean who was very polite and courteous. Unfortunately for him I ended up been a bit needy and rang countless times as he was far more informative than my legal team. He was always very helpful, never failed to return a call answered all emails and kept me well informed every step of the transaction. He is a credit to his company and with him Nicola that I also had a few conversations with did a fantastic job and I would recommend anyone selling or buying to give them a call. They bent over backwards and I was very impressed, thank you, I’m sure it would have been a lot harder process without you.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

GoogleI’ve dealt with Farrell Heyworth for many years now. The reason I use them is quite simple, they’re very professional and thorough. I’ve built my portfolio of properties with the special professional help of Sales Manager Amy, who I would recommend anyone to speak too if they want a swift and hassle free experience. Not only is she thorough, but with her wealth of experience and expertise of the local market shines through when I’m looking for new properties. She has also contacted me when properties are coming on the market which would fit within my investment folder.
All in all I’m extremely happy with the service I receive from Farrell’s and especially the business relationship I have with Amy..... long may it continue!PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleI have been trying to get a viewing of a property we are interested in for over a week. We received the shoddy video - pretty useless to get a proper impression. We were asked and confirmed we had an offer on our property - Farrell's effectively suggested I was lying and said they would contact our agents for confirmation. The next day another person from the office rang to ask what we thought of the video - said we had seen and requested a viewing ..."we can only do that if yours is sold but I'll get back to you" Heard nothing. The directors response below was "there are lots of people out there with no intention of buying" - we'll just maybe you have to take the rough with the smooth and that way you might sell on behalf of your clients - appalling approach and appalling service.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

GoogleI spoke with Debbie and the manager at this agency who both refused to arrange a viewing on a property I am interested in purchasing. I have a mortgage offer in place and I am awaiting a revised agreement in principle (of which I know the amount) since I received a job promotion.
They refused to arrange a viewing even though I promised I would send a copy upon receipt, which is due imminently. Both members of staff were condescending and relied on company policy to defend that decision rather than use some common sense. I have recently had to withdraw from purchasing another property due to issues on the survey which meant I requested an updated AIP which is confirmed and on its way. Surely they could have come to some sort of compromise, book the viewing and allow me to send a copy once received (which would most likely be before the viewing anyway).
If I were the vendor I would be livid if my agent was turning away genuine buyers and following policy blindly. I would encourage vendors be wary of this 'policy' as the lack of common sense applied has almost put me off viewing this house entirely. The staff were very rude to me and showed a complete lack of empathy. To be honest I'm disgusted.
Really poor Farrell Hayworth and you will lose sales if you treat people like this.
I assess service for a major financial institution and we would not tolerate customers being spoken to in this manner.
I would also like to add that providing a AIP to the estate agent is disclosing your financial position to the vendor. Something which would compromise your position as a buyer when it comes to negotiations. Something I don't feel comfortable about.NegativeProfessionalism

GoogleI found Dean to be one of the most helpful people throughout my whole moving process. He was always responsive on email and happily discussed any concerns I had. I had great communication with Dean throughout, and he kept me updated, even if my solicitors hadn't. He was happy to answer my 'first buyer' questions and queries and I really felt like he had the time for me and that he wanted the house sale to go through as much as I did - he was invested!
