GoogleI had very bad bad experience with Matthew estate . They accepted the offer for house in the mean time I sent all bank statements and my mortgage offer on that house later after 3 weeks they said can h offer more money . The value of house was only £126,000 by still I had offer extra £10,000 they accept the offer next minute they ask for bank statements and then they will ask would you like to offer more money . I explained in email that house valuation price . I lost 400 pounds by paying mortgage broker because they asked me to close in 3 weeks . So I need to rush and pay 400 pounds to mortgage broker to get offer after getting offer they say vendor wants more money from 8 months the house was in market and reduced no one bought for long time . I also think they was racism to me . I was and my wife so upset they have played game with us wasted our time my money as well . I strongly believed my self they donot want to sell us . If any one want the proof as well I got the emails and voice recording as well .

GoogleAs a management company they do not fix issues when raised (broken dishwasher 5 months to fix, and fixed if n day if leaving, and shower never fixed after 3 months of issue raised) or release your deposit when the landlord is happy for it to be fully refunded. Very poor communication from the “relationship” managers.

GoogleWhilst sorting my flat I spoke with Karen Callegari who was fantastic. She was really helpful and very proactive in helping me to sort a place to rent. I felt she really cared about helping me to find what I was looking for. She took the time to show me around the flat and was very honest which I really appreciated. We put an application to rent a Property which we considered to be our Dream rental at the earliest possible opportunity and we were told that they would be in touch when the landlord had reviewed our application. That's fine, that we weren't accepted but to not even notify us and leave us hanging on in hope that we may be accepted is nothing short of bad practice. Over the last 12 months we have faced some challenging issues with the building, which without their assistance would have been very difficult to deal with. We deal with Kevin O'Reilly and Kerry Teasdale and I can't speak highly enough of both of them. They are professional, knowledgeable and empathetic in everything thing they do. Addressing many complex issues Matthews has been there with us offering professional advice along with key practical solutions to the problems of the day. Nothing is too much trouble, even after hours. They are reliable, supportive and very creative. Myself and our management team are hugely impressed with them. GoogleBelow average. I've rented, viewed property to buy and owned an apartment that they managed so have experience all the different channels of property management that Matthew's offer. When I was Renting: As a tenant renting (a good few years ago) I ended up cutting them out the loop and communicated directly with my old landlord as they were useless. Only interested in collecting my rent and my landlords fees. For example, It was easier for me to arrange my own plumber and electrician and invoice my landlord when the heating started to play up than it was to get Matthews to arrange anything. When I was a Potential house buyer: They were difficult to negotiate with when buying a property. Very quick to get the offer accepted but after the survey flagged structural issues renegotiating was laborious and subsequently the purchase fell through as we found an alternative property. Property 2 was listed for sale with both Matthews and another Chester based agent. We went with the other agent and it was a far more fluid negotiation and we were in touch with the agency at least once a week to keep things in track. Matthews of Chester had to be asked roughly 6 times to remove the listing once our offer was accepted from the other agency... When I owned a property that they managed: this is the only positive experience I've had with Matthews. Their blocks management team gave clear communications to us as property owners, management fees were quite high but I didnt feel the money was miss spent. Staff were nice when I needed to meet/speak with them regarding the block/apartments and they were flexible with payments of management fees each quarter helping me spread the costs each year.

GoogleSince Matthews of Chester took over from PDA for the management of my block, the service charge has increased from £82.69pm to £118.05pm. This represents a 42% increase! The previous company were always pleasant and professional to deal with, and I never experienced any issues with them at all. It's a massive shame they don't still manage it now. I would personally avoid this company at all costs
