After dealing with various Estate agents for the last 2 weeks today I got to deal with the best. A wonderful lady called Karen took my call and talked to me like she cared, she miraculously arranged a same day viewing and was so lovely to meet. The last 2 weeks have been so stressful and Karen literally took the stress away instantly. A business does not make a company what it is, it’s the staff that work for them and as far as I am concerned Karen is an absolute credit to the company.

I have been looking for a house for quite some time now and although this didn't have the outcome I had hoped, Karen was the first estate agent that had the courtesy to ring and provide the update over the phone. In addition, she is the only estate agent that has taken the time to call and provide an 'in progress' update once the application had been submitted and we were awaiting the landlord's decision. It has been impeccable service that has been very much appreciated in this tough climate of finding somewhere to live. The gentleman who showed me around the house was also very pleasant, chatty knowledgeable and helpful.

I completed on the purchase of a property in February 2023. Julie Constable-Jones of Matthews demonstrated huge professionalism to keep the transaction alive after a tortuous seven months of conveyancing with an institutional vendor and the turmoil of lenders changing offers unilaterally to derail the sale. Of all the professionals involved Julie stood head and shoulders above the rest in being responsive, following through on actions agreed and keeping the transaction moving and doing so with good humour. Unfortunately this isn't a glowing review, first time we used Mathews was for a rental and unfortunately they just weren't interested in helping us what so ever. Second time around we were looking to buy our first home, this time we were able to actually look around properties. The person who did the viewing was polite but unfortunately couldn't answer even the simplest of questions and just advised us any questions we'd need to ring the office. Some of which should have stayed photos, when damp was found in certain properties it was just glossed over and we were made to feel stupid. We eventually found one that we liked and spoke with Julie who initially was very helpful and friendly but after asking to many questions about the largest purchase we'd ever make this soon subsided and her attitude became very short, uninterested and very unhelpful. One thing id recommend any buy asking that we didn't initially know to ask is probate (this was withheld from us and was eventually brought to light this hadn't been been started yet). Fortunately we ended up finding our dream home (not through Matthews) the experience from viewing to offer accepted couldn't have been more different.
