Wrote to these people on the 5th September, now the 14th September and never received a reply......I guess they are too rich or too busy.

Very poor service. I bought two lots in December 2019 at one of their auctions, and was invoiced a few days later, including shipping, as requested. I was then called in July 2020 to request I collect the lots. I dug back through my emails and found that I had paid for shipping, and my last communication with them was that the would arrange collection. Having delivered my items 6 months late, they declined my request to refund my buyer's fees (approx. £10) due to the coronavirus lockdown (?!) and that I should've contacted them to chase them up.

Didn't know about this little gem tucked away in Macclesfield. Small valuation room, but plenty of seats whilst waiting to be seen. Left some items to be auctioned. Will wait for the results.

Very communicative with an excellent stock of inventory. Highly recommend bidding here. Overseas posting was honest and well packed.

Nearly a month for dispatch! & £95 p&p

disgusting service, paid invoice on 17th, waited another 5 days for them to sort out p&p which was £95,m excessive to say the least but went with is as i assumed a quick dispatch via DHL. Chased up numerous time, informed dispatch would be Thursday or Friday, nothing. Far better auctioneers out there to use, i will think twice before using them again, would rate zero if that was an option

A big thumbs down for Adam Partridge

Made an absentee commission bid, confirmed by them. Item sold for under half my maximum. Yet they claim they somehow missed my bid. Seems a friend? got a real deal. Not good for the seller / vendor of that lot, to say the least. Was told Adam Partridge would contact me / advise; never happened, so Adam Partridge is apparently not the amiable person he likes to present himself as on TV. They are in breach of a common law contract and so therefore owe me compensation. I suggested they waive the buyer's premium on my next purchase but the by now insulting (trying to somehow blame me for placing my bid after they like to receive them by) staff were showing their true colours and said "No" (presumably without Adam Partridge's say so).It was their accusatory blame game tone that sparked me off; if they had just said "sorry, we messed up", that would have been it, no review here. But to be told it was somehow partly my fault even though they had issued me a bid confirmation is an insult, bad mannered and shows a distinct lack of professionalism and customer care.

Buyers beware this auction house has a more expensive in house packing service than mail boxes… this is for small unbreakables that can be sent in a Jiffy bag. If bidding be aware p&p is extortionate. Would give 0 if possible.

Hello and thank you for your honest feedback. We do try and keep the postage costs down as low as possible and the costs are fully listed on our website so people can choose if they want to use our own in-house service or if they would like to arrange their own packing and shipping. We usually find that we are much cheaper than Mailboxes however, we appreciate the feedback and your time in reviewing our postage costs.

Failed to honor my winning bit

Failed to honor my winning bit, despite my account on their own website saying I had won following bidding live. Blamed an error and said the auctioneer had written someone elses name down. Very unhelpful when I called, I had to call back to follow up despite being told I would be called. Vey disappointed they acted in this way when their own website told me I had won. Poor systems in place.

Adam Partridge arranged the sale and clearance of both my parents' house, and that of my aunt and uncle. On each occasion, the service was faultless, being professional, swift and sensitive. In particular, regarding my parent's house, he really went the extra mile in minimising the stress for me. The sale of the items was also great. I would recommend the company extremely highly since I am more than satisfied with every aspect .

We purchased over 6 lots, 7x Robin Gibbard paintings Thurs 21 Sept. Invoiced Mon 26th and requested estimate for P&P. Phoned 3 times over the week to try to find out when we would receive the estimate, and Fri 29th received the same invoice as Mon, no estimate. Phoned again only to be told once its in the system have to wait. If this is not received by Mon 2nd Oct with a date of delivery and by who then we will pay invoice and use Mail Boxes who are more diligent in meeting requests for estimates, P&P and ensuring delivery with main Postal service.

Purchased item A Ghanaian yellow metal necklace centred with seven graduated stylised butterflies, length 52.5cm and a matching pair of drop earrings, combined approx 26.6g THIS IS NOT SOLID YELLOW METAL, but, Plated white metal. When queried this is the answer received from Christopher Surfleet senior valuer & Auctioneer. We always put the weight down as we would with a £10,000 diamond ring, as we simply get asked leading up to every auction for the weights NOT TRUE, ONLY GOLD IS WEIGHED. “White metal” can indicate plated wears as can “yellow metal”, I have spent over £30,000 at online auctions this year, all jewellery & have never had such poor service. They are breaking the Sale of Goods act 1979. I have no doubt that there will be an answer here calling me dishonest & a liar. Seems to be the standard answer to anyone unhappy. If you are a serious purchaser, please use another auction room. Absolutely no interest in being truthful & giving good customer service. this is complete rubbish.

This is a really good auction House

This is a really good auction House. Although I live a long distance away and have shipping charges its well worth frequenting on line. Very much better than average (excellent in fact) descriptions that one can rely on and very realistic estimates . Always a wide selection of interesting items. For small lots they offer their own well priced shipping service which saves time and money

Organised a phone bid which Adam Partridge failed to honour.

Organised a phone bid. They didn’t call me so I rang them three lots before and they still didn’t call me. They told me afterwards they couldn’t get through to me despite the fact I was holding my phone in my hand. I phoned my phone from another phone and my phone worked perfectly. I’m sure the person who was selling the lot would not be happy with the fact that the item was being undersold.

Incredibly disappointed. Two items estimated £40-60 each were sold for £20 each; was told the auctioneer's discretion is the same as 18% commission when it is not. This was not transparent on the receipt or explained to me. I would have had my items back rather than be left with £28 for both after charges. The reserves need to be clearly marked on the receipt. If no reserve on items under £100, 'no reserve' should be clearly written on receipt. Auctioneer's discretion should not be 50% of low estimate unless clearly agreed with client. Staff wriggled out of this by stating that all was agreed in terms of small print on receipt, but in fact this is not transparent and other auction houses provide full information. Advise to try somewhere else.

5* Chris Surfleet arranged for my painting to have all the provenance displayed at the side of the image in the catalogue & online too. His advice regarding the reserve price & the estimate was very helpful & entirely correct. The Isherwood oil on board sold for the reserve. My cheque arrived promptly & each member of Adam Partridge staff I had contact with were professional & polite. I would not hesitate to engage the services of this auction house should the need arise. Thank you.

What a company !

What a company, have contacted me after 8 months to say they have an item of mine that still requires payment for postage. I’d forgotten totally about it.What honestly this demonstrates, thank you and I’ll be bidding on future sales safe in the thought that if my memory lets me down AP won’t.Have a great day
