TrustpilotThis organisation is a shambles .
This organisation is a shambles . I regularly use Saleroom to place bids ( over 50 successful bids ) , however after registering and placing bids on 3 lots that were with Adam Partridge I received an error message saying the auctioneer wants to manually vet the bids and suggesting I contact them directly if I want a quicker response .There was no answer on the phone and I left a message - no response . I rang again the next day - no answer (14/8 ) . I then received a request for photo ID which I provided .as at the end of the 17 th August I still have not received a response . The auction is over .I would suggest people take their business elsewhere !

TrustpilotI received a fantastic service…
I have received a fantastic service from Adam Partridge auctioneers from beginning to end. Emmeline attended my property to value the items I wanted to sell and was very honest, informative, friendly & professional. I then dealt with the salesroom staff when dropping off my items who were all very helpful, friendly, informative & professional. I would highly recommend using Adam Partridge Auctioneers. I was very pleasantly surprised with the outcome of my items sold at auction. I watched the auction online and it was really exciting & enjoyable. I was chuffed to bits that Adam popped in and Sold my last lot, but Emmeline was amazing and very entertaining to watch. Thank you to everyone at Adam Partridge Auctioneers, it was a pleasure dealing with you.

TrustpilotHuge Star wars Auction!!
We as a family are extremely happy with how we have been helped by Adam Partridge Auctioneers. Emmeline was so lovely and advised really well on our whole Star Wars room. We obviously could have sold the many items ourselves and without doubt would have raised more funds. But after losing My Husband we were really greatful for Emmelines assistance, who advised how the auction process worked and explained about how most of the items would only fetch a basic auction price . I can wholeheartedly recommend the auction process and commend every member of staff we have dealt with, who has been so kind and informative. Many thanks to you all, for your help in our darkest hour!

TrustpilotAn auctioneer you can trust
I have been downsizing for some time, and taking my antiques, collectables and jewellery to Steven Parkinson at the Preston Office was a very wise decision on my part. He is always a pleasure to deal with. I value him for his knowledge and experience, and also for his clear guidance as to what will and will not sell in an auction environment. This means that the things I have taken to him did sell, for prices which were more than acceptable to me, and some did very well. I have watched the auctions live and they do their best to sell every item, and sadly that cannot be said of all auctioneers. The paperwork is clear and straightforward. I will continue to trust Steven and Adam Partridge as I continue with my downsizing.

GoogleAdam Partridge seems like a nice bloke and never had a problem with any other of his salerooms. However the woman in charge of Macclesfield is an absolute nightmare, not a nice person and zero people skills. I imagine most problems occurring at that saleroom are made far worse by her. Will never use any of thier salerooms again because of her.
Reply to your reply - Obviously as you dont know what happened am surprised you replied in this manner. Possibly make yourselves look better and make me out to be in the wrong ?. I won items totalling roughly £1000-£1200. got condition reports on Everything and when checking my lots over was happy apart from one lot. A metal mirror by or in the style of erte which was roughly £150 hammer, so the cheapest lot out of everything. One side looked to me to be bent, i was speaking to a really nice lad who was porter. I said i think its bent and as such he got someone to phone the other saleroom i bought it from who double checked thier condition report and said it wasnt bent when it eft them and was completely fine. The porter said it must have happened in transit. I said thats very strange as my other lots were very delicate porcelain. I Obviously said well it looks bent so can i have a refund please. In other similar situations other auction houses offered a refund of thier fees and apology as a way to sort any problems as these things happen. The porter and person i spoke to couldn't do this and needed to speak to the person in charge. This horrible woman. Came over after about 10 mins didn't introduce herself didnt apologise. Simply came over and said we are not refunding this very very bluntly. Its exactly as described and we wont refund. Went on to say this didn't happen in transit as would take massive amount of pressure to bend. I advised i didn't sah it happened in transit the porter did and as i think it is bent and not the style i want a refund. No your not getting a refund. Hence why i put no people skills. Very abrupt and very rude. I said if wouldn't refund would claim back from my bank on card i oaid. You didn't pay by card as we dont accept payment that way. Well Obviously i did !!!!! Bearing in mind i had no problem with anything else. If she apologised and even offered to partially refunf maybe 20 quid of fees i would have accepted and been fine. However because of her vile attitude, manners and completel lack if empathy and understanding i was absolutely fuming and still am when i think about it. It was an original erte and worth a bit more than i paid and i very much liked it. It was purely her attitude. They then sent someone else over but by then i was absolutely fuming by being talked to and dealt with that way i wouldn't speak to anyone else and wanted to leave asap as hate being embarrassed or so angry in public. Who wants to feel like that ??? So i i took my other lots home and left that and made the claim through bank which takes months. So didn't want to leave a review until i had refund and also as whem am angry my review would have made no sense. I forgot to leave review but saw Adam on tv which instantly made me think of this and instantly made me feel angry at that 1 woman who could have handled so differently. Hence this feedback and do you think i would have wasted my time doing so after this length of time if it didn't leave such a terrible impression. I dont buy at auction that regularly but had bought previously from adam partridge auctions at least 5 times before then from different branches, in fact picking up from the liverpool branch a few months previously. If by support my decision you dont want my business when i was the one who was made to feel so bad then that i suppose sums this saleroom up. As i said I never had problems with anything else and they sent my lots up from another branch for free which i appreciated as this was closer but still a 6 hour return trip !! After a long drive and spending a large chunk of money to me I don't expect to be talked to like that. Everyone prior to her was very nice. Friendly and respectful.

Dear Mr Daines,
Thank you for your feedback, though we were surprised to receive it so many months after your purchase in October 2023.
We are sorry to hear that you felt dissatisfied with your experience at our Macclesfield saleroom. However, we would like to clarify that no member of our team treated you with anything less than respect during your visit. When you raised concerns about the lot you had purchased, our senior valuer made every effort to speak with you and resolve the matter. Unfortunately, you refused to engage with him and became increasingly argumentative, which made it difficult to have a constructive conversation.
The item in question had been accurately described and photographed by our Devon saleroom prior to transfer, and it arrived at Macclesfield in the same condition. It appears that the disagreement may have stemmed from a misunderstanding, as the lot was catalogued as “in the style of Art Nouveau” rather than as an original period piece.
You chose to leave the item with us and indicated that you would be pursuing a refund via your card provider. We have had no further contact from you since then, and so were surprised to receive this review.
As you have stated that you no longer wish to use our services, we respect your decision and are happy to support it.
Kind regards,

TrustpilotExcellent Emmeline
Emmeline Jarrey handled our house contents auction with professionalism and sensitivity making what was expected to be unsettling experience quite bearable. She took time to explain the market conditions, the process and the terms and was thoughtful about the best timing for the sale of our collection. She has a wide knowledge of ceramics, silver, art, toys, clothes and furniture and quickly identified items of value and the saleable, it was fascinating learning from her. On collection day Emmeline directed the team of packers who arrived with a smile and sense of humour and carefully loaded items on to the truck they were a pleasure to have in our home, they left the empty rooms clean and tidy. We have been delighted by Emmeline's curation of lots and the presentation of the items to attract the widest number of buyers and attain the best price. The service post sale also very professional with funds arriving on time, helpful staff and easy instructions. Finally the sale proceeds exceeded our expectations...Well done and Thank you Emmeline and Adam Partridge

TrustpilotAppalling attitude
Appalling attitude. Apparently now requires separate proof of identity when buying - even when buying through the Saleroom.com where they have already confirmed identity and hold debit card details. They won't actually tell you this of course, they just leave you hanging with 'Pending' on your bids. If you eventually query this with them they will send you a very patronising email that basically tells you to get lost if you don't like it. There are hundreds of more professional auction houses out there - so I would just leave this guy to the telly if I were you.

Thank you for your feedback, Mark. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations.
As part of our company policy, we require identification from all bidders before they can participate in our auctions. This policy is applied consistently to every client without exception, including our directors and staff members when bidding.
While you may have provided card details or completed verification with The Saleroom, as a third-party auction house we do not have access to that information. We are therefore required to carry out our own verification checks independently.
Providing ID or proof of address allows us to confirm that bidders are genuine and traceable, helping to prevent impersonation and maintain a clear audit trail. These safeguards are in place to protect both our customers and our business, and are becoming increasingly standard practice across auction houses.
If you would prefer not to provide photo ID, we are happy to accept a utility bill dated within the last three months as an alternative, which fully satisfies our requirements.
We do appreciate that additional checks can feel inconvenient, particularly if you have bid at auction previously. However, these measures are applied consistently and are not intended as a reflection on any individual.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,

Have now sent a threatening letter from their solicitors, as though they are the injured party! This same solicitor who threaten costs if they are not given time to review it after they have already replied that their solicitors do not respect any claim! They continually procrastinate, obfuscate, and stonewall, and now think they can threaten with solicitors and costs to avoid refunding for a fake autograph which similar they later again tried to auction knowing full well it was a fake. I am now forced to take legal action to have this company honour and respect their professional duty, and prevent them taking money from a customer for something that is not what they said

TrustpilotCustomer service is not a priority for…
Customer service is not a priority for this company. Why hold a pre-christmas auction over a week before Christmas, and then close the following day for a 17 day Christmas holiday making it impossible for purchasers to collect lots until the New Year despite customers having bought items as Christmas gifts - surely any reasonable company would keep their offices open until the 23rd of December for collections, or at least have highlighted on their website and auction listings that collection of items wasn't possible until the New Year. Similarly beware of the buyers premium, on the Adam Partridge website additional charges are listed as 30% on the listings, however there is an additional 2.4% charge for bidding through their website which isn't clearly identified. All told they're not a company that I'm impressed with having dealt with, and feel that they do not prioritise customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience and apologise for the frustration caused by the London Saleroom being closed following the auction.
The Christmas closure period and collection dates were outlined within the auction details and important information prior to bidding, however we appreciate that this may not have been as prominent as it could have been. We understand how disappointing this would have been, particularly where items were purchased as Christmas gifts.
With regard to charges, the buyer’s premium and the additional live bidding surcharge are confirmed on our website, and again at the point of registration within the terms and conditions, which bidders are required to agree to before placing bids.
That said, we do take your comments seriously and will use this feedback to review how clearly this information is presented in future, as well as considering auction scheduling to better allow for collections ahead of holiday closures.
Thank you again for your feedback, it is appreciated and helps us to improve the service we provide.

TrustpilotA satisfied customer at an auction house.
Making contact with the Ruislip branch of Adam Partridge for the first time proved to be helpful and rewarding. I found that the Office Manager put me at ease and I was able to negotiate on the purchase of an item that had failed to sell at auction. After purchase, I was kept informed of delivery arrangements and the item was carefully packed. My experience of this auction house was excellent and I now own a really nice piece that I am proud of.

TrustpilotNice item but beware of postage costs
I am really delighted with my celtic ring I purchased as a wedding ring for my husband. It was my fist time buying and the process was simple and when I emailed with a question they were very helpful. However my only stipulation was the postage cost from the London Saleroom. They charged me £15 plus vat so £18 in total for a small ring. It came by RM special delivery and the price on the envelope was £8.75 so I definitely felt overcharged.

Hello Emily,
Thank you so much for your review. We’re delighted to hear that you’re so pleased with the Celtic ring and that our team was able to assist you during the process.
We do understand your comments regarding postage costs. Our standard delivery fee is applied across all branches and covers more than just the Royal Mail charge shown on the parcel. It also includes the cost of packaging materials, staff time spent carefully preparing and dispatching items, and transport to the Post Office or courier drop-off point.
While the Royal Mail label may show £8.75, the remainder helps to cover these necessary overheads and ensures that your items are securely packed and delivered safely.
We also offer a range of alternative options for customers who prefer a different delivery method, including sending in their own pre-paid packaging, arranging their own courier collection, or requesting a free transfer to another of our branches for collection.
We truly appreciate your feedback and understanding, and we’re so pleased your purchase has found such a special purpose.

TrustpilotUnfriendly to buyers
Have bought many times from this auction room before. However, this time I tried to register on saleroom.com and registration was 'pending'. Nothing to mention during the process that ID was now needed to bid. Told on the phone it was the law and yet no other auction room demands this except sometimes for items expected to fetch a high value. I was wanting initially to bid £110 on something that fetched £30, so vendors will obviously lose out. Would I trust this particular company with two forms of my ID such as passport and driving license? Not likely. They have a definite reputation in the trade, although naturally I won't say whether good or bad. Hopefully, they will reverse this policy for previous buyers for their vendor's sake. I travelled all the way from Yorkshire to view the auction. What a waste of my time.

Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear of your disappointment and that this policy caused you inconvenience.
We appreciate your loyalty as a previous buyer and completely understand your frustration at being unable to bid on this occasion. However, due to changes in industry regulations and our responsibility under Anti-Money Laundering legislation, we are required to verify the identity of all bidders. This policy is now standard practice across many auction houses and is in place to protect both buyers and vendors.
We want to reassure you that any documents provided are stored securely and used solely for verification purposes in line with GDPR. We do not share this information with third parties.
Your point about communication is well taken, and we are reviewing how this requirement is highlighted during registration to avoid confusion in the future.

Bureaucracy to gladden the heart of a French civil servant. All I wanted was a quote to pack and post two small items. They could have provided a tick box for this on the invoice. Instead I had to spend 3/4 of an hour trying to find a particular form and then lose patience because about the only thing they didn't require was my shoe size.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
We are sorry to hear that you found the postage request process frustrating. For clarity, the link to our postage request form is clearly signposted within the payment confirmation email which was issued to you on the 15th December, and is intended to be straightforward to access and complete.
When you advised that you found completing the form to be difficult, we manually submitted the postage request on your behalf on 16th December in order to resolve the matter as efficiently as possible. The resulting shipping quotation was sent to you yesterday, without requiring any further action from you.
With regard to resale, unfortunately, items selling below £100 do not meet the threshold for being re-offered, which is why this option was not available on this occasion.
If payment for the postage is made today, we will be able to despatch the items before we close for the holiday period, allowing delivery ahead of Christmas.
We regret that, despite our efforts to assist and accommodate, this was not reflected in your experience.

TrustpilotNot geared up for large sales
Four day sale but only one day to view!!! Therefore had to rely on condition reports. I am guessing there were lots of condition report requests on the back of the lack of viewing. The majority of these reports were not great, again probably brought about by time constraints and I’ll say it again, lack of viewing time. Collection is also problematic with such a large sale with no slots available on the preferred date. Seems to be at their convenience rather than the paying bidder.

Here at Adam Partridge, we are always sad to hear that someone has had a bad experience with us, and we would always hope to do our best in rectifying any issues that may sour someone’s time with us.Although true that we only offered one full viewing day, we also allowed viewing for all our customers before each sale day, effectively meaning we had viewing available Monday, Friday during sale week. To answer your second point, we allow collection for all our customers Monday, Friday, we only ask that you book in advance, so that our porters can prepare lots in advance. If this were not to be the case, you might find yourself arriving for collection at the same time as all our other customers that were part of the February sale here at Adam Partridge. With all that said, we are sorry that you were displeased with how this sale panned out for yourself, and we can only hope that next time you have a more satisfying journey with us. If you do find yourself unable to make a viewing day, please contact us in advance so that we can discuss a private viewing session.Kind regards
