GoogleWell after 33 years in my house I decided to go with this agent as they were a family concern. What a, disaster salesman turned up no mask. The house went on with spelling and grammar mistakes of which I had to point out and the photos were so dark it made it impossible to see. 4 viewings but not one call from the agents with feedback without me chasing and no response to my emails. The lack of marketing and communication leaves a lot to be desired. I have now gone to an agent who has, more marketing and customer servicing experience. GoogleAs a property developer, I deal with a fair few agents, and this has got to be one of the worst I’ve dealt with. I would caution anybody who is considering selling their home through McCartney. In this instance I was considering buying one of their listed properties, but their communication was poor, they didn’t get back to me when they promised they would. After telling me I was the highest offer and they wouldn’t be doing any further viewings, they allowed another buyer to progress a sale at a lower price before I had a chance to know what was going on. When they finally processed my offer properly, the vendor didn’t want to run with my offer for fear of losing the sale already running. I would never sell one of my properties through this agent as they can’t even get the best price from a cash buyer biting their hand off. Add to this the uninterested silent agent during the viewing who had no information and no interest in selling the property. Anyone looking to sell a house remember it’s not the agent with the lowest commission that is the cheapest, it’s the one who gets you the highest price. Clearly this is company that is purely looking to secure their commission as quickly as possible rather than develop leads with highest offers.
Update - I am not surprised that McCartney replied to this review with misleading statements rather than unreserved apology. They miss out the part about telling me my offer was accepted and the negotiations which I was waiting on responses for, or the part they assured me no further viewing took place. In that time they introduced a new buyer at a lower price, so they’ve got a cheek claiming that the sale to the new buyers was already advanced. The fact remains they dropped a serious high bidder to run with a lower offer for whatever reason. So my warning to sellers remains valid.

GoogleI had a dreadful experience with McCartney. Over a 2 month period they did not arrange a single viewing. After I received an email suggesting I reduce the price of my property by £15,000 I decided to check the listing. To my shock, it was not listed on Right Move, Zoopla or their own website. When I raised this with them they barely even bothered with an apology. I was not going to write a bad review but I then received a letter in the post from them (after terminating the listing) that, instead of thanking me for my business, was sent to remind me that if anyone gets in touch who was introduced by them, they are entitled to claim their fee. I have no issue with that, its in the contract, but they showed no gratitude and sought only to consider themselves. There are many estate agents in Chelmsford that will work harder for their money, use one of them instead.

GoogleHaving tried to sell my house with McCartney I would strongly suggest you avoid using this agent.
Almost every instruction I gave them was ignored and I felt that the way their agent tried to make me accept offers far below the asking price (which they had valued) bordered on bullying.
I couldn't believe how badly and unprofessionally they managed the sale and how quickly they ran out of ideas. It got so bad that I asked them for my keys back so I could use a proper agent.
Avoid them at all costs, or you'll lose out.

We of course wish to respond and give assurance to our clients that this information is both inaccurate in its content and misleading. Having now been established for the last 27 years, we always aim to achieve the best price for our vendors and on this occasion this was our intention.
You may recall that the suggested marketing price was rejected by you and we were instructed to market at a far higher price than recommended. Unfortunately, interest in the property was limited and we suggested reducing the price to somewhere closer to what the property was originally valued to generate some interest. The offers put forward to you, were inline with similar properties sold nearby. With the property being purchased by you in the last year a significant profit was unrealistic.The offers were rejected and you subsequently felt that you wished to withdraw the property instruction. That aside we wish you the best in selling the property.

GoogleOffered accepted on a property advertised by McCartney. Waited for 5 weeks to receive a memorandum of sale and to allow our mortgage company to send a surveyor in. In the meantime, the vendor lost their purchase and we waited around whilst the vendor found a new property. McCartney seemed to slow everything down, bottom line is we lost our buyer due to the wait and the vendor found a new house and re sold all within a day. Prior to us having our offer accepted the house was on the market for over 3 months. Our first experience in the property for 20 years, didn't leave us with confidence dealing with estate agents in the future.

Dear Nick, In reply to your review, we are sorry you feel this way. However, a memorandum of sale is only sent out once the vendors and purchasers solicitors are appointed. However on this occasion the vendor didn't appoint a solicitor.
An email was sent confirming the sale had been agreed subject to the vendor finding a suitable property.
You also received calls and emails updating you on the situation.
Unfortunately the situation has still not changed and the seller is still trying to find a suitable property to purchase, which is out of our control.
